Avenue Saint Posted 19 February, 2010 Share Posted 19 February, 2010 We have the players to give them a very tough test and maybe get something where most teams have failed. That has to be a very positive sign. Can see another 1-1, but this time it would be a much happier one. Definitely think we'll score anyway, and Norwich will fail to win at some point, so why not tomorrow. They're top, doing very well, but really nothing to fear. exactly. we have a chance. Cabrone Posted 19 February, 2010 Share Posted 19 February, 2010 Looking at them training in the manager interview on Saints Player it may be... Davis Otsemobor Fonte Seaborne Harding Lallana Schneiderlin Hammond Puncheon Lambert Barnard I'd personally swap Seaborne for Jaidi and Otsemobor for Thomas (if fit) but otherwise that looks like a great league 1 team. Certainly one that could and should challenge for top 2 next season if we are still in this division.
Northant Saint Posted 19 February, 2010 Share Posted 19 February, 2010 That team has not played in the last three games at least. Yes but nevertheless it is a very similar line up to what we played against Portsmouth. I think it would be foolish to not include Papa or Antonio in their recent form, and people suggesting Lallana should start on the bench are crazy. Puncheon should get his chance when the form of one of these drops imo.

toofarnorth Posted 19 February, 2010 Share Posted 19 February, 2010 -----------------Davis------------ Thomas --- Fonte ----Jaidi------Harding ---------Hammond - Morgan------ Papa-----------Lallana---------Puncheon ----------------Lambert------------ Subs: Bart, Otsemobor, Seaborne, James, Holmes, Antonio, Barnard, I'd love to see that team line up tomorrow. Shows real intent to go there and get something. If we lose we lose, but lets give it a good go. Possibly Antonio for Papa but great looking team. Tom28 Posted 19 February, 2010 Share Posted 19 February, 2010 Davis Otsemobor Jaidi Fonte Harding Lallana Hammond Schneiderlin Puncheon Lambert Barnard Subs: Bart, Mills, Seaborne, James, Holmes, Antonio, Waigo Thomas misses out on a place on the bench because James can play right back and centre midfield. I think this is a very solid team that will allow us to bring on Antonio and Waigo at the end and steal a win.
saint1977 Posted 19 February, 2010 Share Posted 19 February, 2010 We need to play for a whole 90 minutes tommorrow or we'll get nowt. Playing Semi would be stupid risk as Norwich know his weaknesses and Thomas is on a good run there. For me, it should be: GK: Davis RB: Thomas, LB: Harding, CBs: Seabourne & Fonte RM: Antonio, LM: Puncheon, CMs: Hammond & Morgan FCs: Lambert & Waigo Subs: Lallana, Barnard, Jaidi, Mills, Semi, Bart Lallana was excellent last week BUT we cannot afford someone who only tracks back sporadically when facing Hoolahan, the best player at this level. Puncheon worked hard when he saw him for MK at SMS and we know Antonio helps his full-back. Harding deserves some help.

Saint Fan CaM Posted 19 February, 2010 Share Posted 19 February, 2010 Most of the team picks itself. The big dilemna is the 2 from 3 of Lallana, Antonio and Puncheon. This will be decided by their respective performances in training I would hazard a guess, but I would also be VERY surprised to not see Puncheon play. I reckon AP will have them fired up for this and it could be an open game... Norwich 2 Saints 3. Probably be a 1-1 draw though.

Legod Third Coming Posted 19 February, 2010 Share Posted 19 February, 2010 Because he isn't! You can't seriously believe Perry is better than Jose Fonte can you? Legod Third Coming Posted 19 February, 2010 Share Posted 19 February, 2010 Ok, now I can see you must be on a wind up. No, football watchers agree. What he lacks in pace he makes up for in brains. It wasn't Perry being done for pace against the skates, it was Dan Harding and his ball watching. Something Perry is too good to do.

madruss Posted 19 February, 2010 Share Posted 19 February, 2010 He is. Fonte might be better one day soon, just not yet. If we're comparing 26 year-old Perry vs. 26 year old Fonte, then yes Perry is better. 36 year old Perry vs. 26 year old Fonte is a different matter entirely. I agree that Perry reads the game better and is better at intercepting, blocking and maybe just shades it on tackling. But Fonte wins on aerial ability, strength, pace, stamina, passing, skill on-the-ball and goal threat at corners to list but a few attributes in which he's superior. There's a reason Pardew paid over £1million for Fonte and it certainly wasn't for him to be Perry's back-up!

From where I was sitting he certainly looked done for pace to me, in fairness so did Harding, Thomas and everyone else trying to get back for the skates last two goals. I'd be tempted to play perry with Fonte myself but I'm pretty sure it will be Seabourne and Fonte HTH.
