Norwich build up

We only need to keep drawing our games and those below us to win a few and we're there. Theres such a fine line between us all in the bottom half points wise so you cant surely deny that is a bit close for comfort?

Not wanting to be negative or owt ;)

FWIW I think it will be a draw on Saturday anyway.

For Saints to be in danger of relegation it would take a HUGE downturn in form. Yes, atm form isn't great but would have to get a lot worse and would include losing a lot of games home and away.

You really shouldn't be concerned at all about relegation.

I predict at worst Saints will come 8th this season and at best 5th if they have a great 18 games.

To be fair I think we do have some great options and I def don't know our best 11. It may be worth looking at Norwich to see who may play well against them?

I do think we have some really good players and good up and coming talent.

Agree with you that AP has to use the rmeainder of the season to get his ideal side. IMO we should now be preparing for next season, without totoally taking our eye off the ball this season.

sorry to be pessimistic but we will lose this and it will be curtains on our season except for wembley of course, hope i'm proved wrong

I understand why you are pessimistic, and I think there is a chance that we might lose, but there's no reason for it to be the end of our season. We'll have to win pretty much every game apart from Leeds and Charlton at home and pick up another 40 or so points from the remaining 18 games. It's a stretch but it's still possible even after a defeat on Saturday.

------------Davis----------------

Thomas--Jaidi--Fonte-----Harding

Bonio--Morgan--Deano--Puncheon

------Lambert--Waigo-----------

Subs: Bart, Perry, Seabourne, Lallana, Wotton, Holmes, Barnard

Probably unfair to drop Lallana to the bench as he was our best player against P*mpey, but with Puncheon in the team now i'm not sure how he'd fit into a 4-4-2. If we were playing a 4-5-1 i'd play him in the hole behind Lambert with Antonio and Puncheon on the left, but I think we've got our wings sorted out now so Lallana is reduced to the bench unfortunately.

I will more than likely be there on Saturday and on Tuesday at Wycombe and here are a few questions that I would like answered please:

1). Can you pay on the day?

2). What is the quickest way by train as am I right in thinking that there are Engineering Works going on on Saturday or am I wrong?!

Thanks!

Will be my 2nd time to Norwich and I think that we will give them a Good Go but I think we will come up short and lose 3-1 but we will see ;)!

it is in no way realistic..seeing as we have won about 11 league games all season..why would that drastically change now..

average at best

I think some people don't realise, midtable is actually quite hard to get out of. To drop into a relegation fight would take a prolonged period of particularly bad form. We have been fairly average for a month or so, but are unbeaten in the league this decade. We are in 15th. To get near the relegation zone would need 6 or 7 teams below us all to win this weekend. That's just not going to happen.

oh....did not realise you were an expert on league 1 matters..

I have seen first hand an utterly crap team with no money win this league...so excuse me whilst I dont agree with you

There's quite a lot of quality there. I didn't want to drop Morgan, but 5 just doesn't go into 4 and I don't much fancy 4-5-1. I've looked at that line-up again, and out of the front 6 I can't think of any of them I'd drop for Morgan.

Waigo - Need his pace.

Hammond - Need his leadership.

Lallana - In great form at the moment

Puncheon - Yet to see him play, but I've heard people claim he is the best wide midfielder in League 1.

Lambert - Well obviously

Barnard - Haven't seen the best from him yet, but he has a great scoring record this season.

I think you have hit the nail on the head there. Barnard I would only think about as a replacement for Lambert, to easy to handle for the opposition otherwise. Not that I think Barnard is a poor player, just I don't see them being a partnership, more an either or option.

The only partner for Lambert that makes the attack look dangerous is Waigo, until Connolly returns. We are then really struggling to fit all our talent into a couple of slots. Although I believe Schneiderlin and Lallana are two very good players, I would definitely sacrifice one for the team, maybe both if things are not going well.

I now this sounds daft after Lallana played so well against Pompey, but that is not always the case. For the moment he definitely deserves his start, but it would not surprise if it never worked out and a substitution is required. Our biggest problem is not having gifted individuals, more the selection problem of too many. Our problem is the best team, which does not look like being our best individuals.

If these players cannot generate pressure you have to have a midfield that can gain control. Otherwise all those talented individuals are rendered useless without possession, including the defence.

I'd like to see us line up like this

----------Davis------------

Semi - Jaidi - Fonte - Harding

----Hammond - Morgan------

Papa------Lallana-----Puncheon

---------Lambert------------

Gives us the option of switching to 442 very quickly, and bringing on Antonio to scare them ****less in the last 15 mins.

Dunno what all the negativity is about - i fully expect us to get a result.

I'd put Thomas in instead of Semi - don't rate him based on what I saw at Millwall.

Otherwise spot on, including Antonio as fresh legs.

Sorry but our league season effectively ended when we did not win at Exeter and other results went against us. We have no realistic chance of making the play-offs. I was optimistic before Exeter but now it would need a miracle of Biblical proportions (or a few clubs going into Admin). We will do very well to finish 8th now.

Agreed though would rather Thomas instead of Semi and Antonio instead of papa and use papa at the end, seems to do well as a sub

Looking at them training in the manager interview on Saints Player it may be...

                     Davis

Otsemobor Fonte Seaborne Harding

Lallana Schneiderlin Hammond Puncheon

            Lambert Barnard

Yes saw this too, but i though it was Jaidi in one of the coloured bibs instead of Seabourne. Lambert and Barnard both practising their finishing too so hopefully Barnard can score his first goals for us on Saturday.

Lack of pace really from the front 6, excluding Puncheon, so i would expect a lot of pressure on Norwich players like we did against Pompey.

Bring on Antonio and Papa after 70 mins for their pace to score a late goal.

I think it will be yet another 2-2 draw!

Could anyone tell me how the Norwich pitch is looking? I think with all the skill that we possess in our starting line up we become undone on muddy, hopeless grounds.

the norwich pitch always wins ''best in the league''...or it has in the last few years anyway.

can't imagine there being any problems.

Norwich are the best footballing team I've seen this season by a mile. Playing on a cattlefield is going to disadvantage them easily as much as it would us.

But I agree that it will be very similar possibly Waigio instead of Barnard

you never..I did..plymouth won this league with freebies and wotton as their captain

You seem to have answered a completely seperate debate with your usual "we are the Man City of League 1" routine. The point I was making is that roughly half the teams in the League end up in a midtable possition. It is hard to get further up the table because the teams above you tend to win. It is also unlikely the teams below you will overtake because they tend to lose a lot.

Some people can't seem to grasp this. If we win one game, promotion is back on the menu. If we lose we're in a relegation fight. We've scored 14 points more than the teams in the drop zone so far. They aren't likely to overtake us. We've scored 8 points less than the teams in the playoff spots and we're 18 behind. We aren't likely to get anywhere near them.

Don't know why, but I've just got a good feeling about this one.

Have a feeling Saints might sneak a 2-1 or 3-2 win but we'll see.

Expect to see the following line-up:

--------------------- Davis ------------------

Otsemobor ----- Jaidi ----- Fonte ----- Harding

Antonio --- Hammond --- Schneiderlin --- Lallana

------------------ Puncheon ------------------

------------------- Lambert -------------------

Subs: Bialkowski, Thomas, Seaborne, Wotton, Holmes, Waigo, Barnard

you said (and I can quote) that people seem to not understand that it is hard to get past or out of mid table..then I said that is poppy**** as utterly dreadfull teams have and will win this league not reach the dizzy heights of 8th place..but become league 1 (or the equivalent) champions

I have seen a team win this league and the style they played at times..and it was pure turd with a team that cost as much to assemble as barnard himself..

then again..what do I know about how good league 1 is..

Sorry... what.

We're 15th, 4 points clear of the drop zone with a 5 team buffer between us and 2 games in hand. Even if we lose a couple of games now, it is unlikely we will end up in the drop zone.

At the same time we are 18 points off the playoff spots with 18 games left. That is a massive gap to overhaul in a short space of time. Very unlikely.

What has any of that got to do with money?

I like the look of this lineup.

Will this be as tough as Leeds away? It seems like its going to be difficult to get anything. I would take a point now, but it will be interesting to see how the new look side is getting on against one of the best sides in the league.

I am going to predict 1-1, and wont be unhappy with that.
