Griffo Posted 16 February, 2010 Share Posted 16 February, 2010 The scenes on Saturday and some of the posts on here are embarassing. I can't imagine anyone is proud of the video on Youtube - our fans looked stupid. Saying their fans look like downs sufferers etc. is also pretty sad and pretty blinkered. Personally I've always thought SMS is full of weird looking people but it doesnt bother me. I would have more respect for people like SRS if they just arranged to meet a few of the Pompey boys and have a proper fight. I have no problem with that - consenting adults enjoying themselves without harming innocent people or their property. Web insults and a few insults behind police lines/railings is pretty weak though. Soft. Go on Stu - I'm sure you could find a few willing Pompey fans on-line, you could have a proper fight within an hour I reckon. BTW I am all for banter, insult and intimidation within the ground where it can actually impact on the football to our advantage. How do you know that's not what he does? Also, in answer to the OP, I despise them. I have never celebrated a goal like I did on Saturday in my whole life, it lasted about 5 minutes the goal celebration. I have never been to the city apart from for the 2 games at Fratton since I have been alive, and I never plan to go there again apart from for football. Junction 9 Posted 16 February, 2010 Share Posted 16 February, 2010 Please don't think Stu that when you are posturing behind a baracade with a scarf over your face that you're doing it in the name of Southampton, or out of some sort of duty to the club. The vast majority of people from this city are deeply embarrased by what happens on derby day and the same goes from those from Portsmouth. It's a city like many others in England, nothing more nothing less. Rivalry within sport is one thing but all this pure hated stuff is comical, only a moron would say such things. Saintandy666 Posted 16 February, 2010 Share Posted 16 February, 2010 I'm surprised because believe you me its a step up from Basingstoke and it's glorious 60's London overspill estates. Pompey has North End but not Popley, Bucksin, Oakridge, Brighton Hill and Winklebury. Still Basingstoke could show Southampton how to build a shopping and leisure complex combined. Basingstoke gets a bad press, it really is quite good these days.

Not wishing to big up Basingstoke but if you think That Basingstoke has more rough areas than portsmouth you are a moron. Southampton and Portsmuth both have far higher crime than Basingstoke, the big headline each week in the Gazette is normally about a missing cat against the weekly murders further South. Obviously Southampton and Portsmouth have a lot more going for them when it comes to history, nightlife, culture etc...

Nineteen Canteen Posted 16 February, 2010 Share Posted 16 February, 2010 Basingstoke gets a bad press, it really is quite good these days. I don't disagree it's like Portsmouth which has been regenerated with real thought and like I said Basingstoke can teach Southampton how to build a shop and leisure complex but worse than both of them is the Oracle in Reading. Basingstoke's Milestones is worth a visit on a rainy day at half term but I think Portsmouth has more to offer actually in the city. The surrounding countryside of Basingstoke is a big if expensive pull. Unfortunately, Basingstoke's major eyesores are well hidden from the public gaze and it doesn't have the sea or the Spinnaker tower and all that history. Southampton though is a spreadeagled mess and you couldn't spend a varied day on foot like you can down at the historic dockyards in Pompey with so much to see and do. You can park your car up for the day and not have to return to it until you have finished to drive home - unless you park it in Paulsgrove allegedly. Obviously Southampton and Portsmouth have a lot more going for them when it comes to history, nightlife, culture etc... Are your crime statistics per capita? The Gazette use to carry that headline for a sleepy North Hampshire town but these days the stories are anything but quaint and generally reads like a social workers nightmare not to mention a fair smattering of murder, rape, drugs, drugs and more drugs, school failures, needless deaths and so on. The trouble with Southampton it has been redeveloped in isolated pockets without much thought on how a tourist could see the sights in a day. Lets put it this way if i was coming from Europe by boat for a day out or more in our ports I would pick Portsmouth regardless of my support for Southampton. Nineteen Canteen Posted 16 February, 2010 Share Posted 16 February, 2010 Portsmouth a step up from Basingstoke? Portsmouth is a scab on the Hampshire map. A dirty, sordid, poxy place, full of dirty, sordid, poxy people. Southsea's not too bad, apart from the cheap fish and chips, kiss me quick atmosphere that pervades the place, but the best view of Portsmouth is the one in your rear view mirror. Wes is that you? I think your password has been compromised and we have some Nigerians scamming the forum. Your use of poxy as an adjective twice in the same sentence gave it away as the verbose Wes would never make such a crass linguistic error. Scab was most un Wes like and dirty was also used twice in the same sentence. Until I have confirmation from the mods I am treating all Wes's posts as dangerous subversive spam. Deano6 Posted 17 February, 2010 Share Posted 17 February, 2010 You are one sick man and I feel sorry for you. A lot of people dislike Portsmouth, some even hate them, but to start beating your own mum up is the work of a deranged lunatic. You really do need some serious help and I would urge you to seek it as soon as you can. I don't think your issues are about Portsmouth or football or anything other than mental health issues. You have disgusted me and I am happy to admit a tear is trickling down my cheek as I type this. That's not a tear.
