S-Clarke Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 If we play with the same intent, passion and power that we did in the First half against the skates, we will beat them.
jam Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 If we play with the same intent, passion and power that we did in the First half against the skates, we will beat them. That's a big if, but I agree. Even though we lost, the team raised the bar on Saturday. If they can maintain that then Norwich will have to play a lot better than they have at SMS this season to get anything out of it.
Fan The Flames Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Lowly Brighton nearly beat them on Saturday, my mate reckons they had them in the bag until the manager brought on two subs, unbalanced the side and changed the game. Saying that Brighton thrashed us, so we are fooked.
John B Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 saints being saints, I think we will win. I dont think we will lose
JonnyLove Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 We will also have a proper full back on the right and also Fonte back in the centre on and a proper winger as well.
CWD Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 The pressure is on - Cortese saw to that. I think we'll win, although narrowly. These player we have now seem to thrive on the big occasions if last wek is anything to go by
Saint Samuel Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Seemed to be fairly evenly matched from the two games I've seen between them at SMS this season, though Carrow Road isn't the nicest of places to go. At least we've had a week to recover from the Pompey game and Fonte will be back to boost the defence. I'll take a draw now.
daveygwyatt Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 im confident we wont lose on sat, norwich are due to slip up and we will be the team to do it.. Dont forget we have 3 or 4 players to come in who were cup tied. att best 3-1 saints at worst 2-2
SNSUN Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Norwich are quality. Lambert took over a team low on morale and kicked their arses so hard that they all stepped up. We have a fresh team, a team with the cup tied players, and a team that on their day can beat anyone in this league. ANYONE. There's no point whatsoever in going into this game with a defeat mentality. Forget the POmpey score, push it to the back of our minds, or at least use the hurt to spur us on. We CAN beat Norwich, it won't be easy, but it's possible. That all said, I'd still take a draw in this game.
Sour Mash Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Will be a very tough game this, would happily take a point. Saints fans need to pull their collective fingers out as well, poor ticket sales so far.
Thedelldays Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 we will lose on saturday...normally, that would not be a real issue...but the poor form away to poor/average league 1 teams has put alot of pressure on this game in league terms. shame really...I still think we should have given the FA cup a wide berth this season
Saint_clark Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Even though we lost on saturday I think our season will pick up now. The atmospheres will improve simply due to the experience of it, the players will have seen just how passionate we can be and will want to do everything they can for us. Just look at the reaction of every single player have Lamberts goal, they were going as nuts as us.
70's Mike Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 thing that might go against us is that due to cup tied players, the back 4 is only slowly getting to know each others games. knowing saints we will win 3-1

Sour Mash Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Not too many saints travelling by the look of it http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1966416,00.html

bpsaint Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Have a feeling this is going to be one of those games where we'd be happy with a draw, but afterwards will be cursing our luck that we've not won.
SNSUN Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Come on - you sure that's not to keep social harmony in the SNSUN household Partly, yes! Since we're been together (four years!) Saints have the upper hand on Norwich if memory serves. A draw would most definitely give me the most peace! (Although when Saints win I get the silent treatment for a day or so, which is actually sweet bliss!)

Just look at the reaction of every single player have Lamberts goal, they were going as nuts as us. Loved the pic on the OS of Lamberts goal. Hammond and Lallana seemed to be goading the skates Lovely touch
Sour Mash Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Two sell outs including one that required you to buy another league game ticket, not surprised. Very true, there is a stupid amount of football over the next few months. Still, its not the area finals and fa cup derby matches where good support is shown, its the run of the mill, week in, week out, unglamorous league games which make the difference between a team that's got decent support and a team that has very good support.
Under Weststand Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 If the team show the passion & character they did on Saturday then we will be Ok I see us getting a draw.
Liquidshokk Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 In the draw against Norwich where Connolly Scored one of the best goals Ive seen it certainly didnt seem obvious that Norwich would win and we matched them all game. It will be tough Saturday but a defeat isnt a certainty. We've brought in some pretty swish players since then. Will Connolly be available to recreate that goal? :-) Anyway, What has happened to him??
Saint_clark Posted 20 February, 2010 Posted 20 February, 2010 I had a feeling after the Pompey game that losing like that but putting in the performance we did would send us on a great run of form.
tisspahars Posted 20 February, 2010 Author Posted 20 February, 2010 1) I stand by everything I said in that original post. 2) Which in my book makes that the best Saints peformance and result in years (I really don't think that's an exaggeration, at least in the league). Fantastically well done boys!
saint-luco Posted 20 February, 2010 Posted 20 February, 2010 .....for one of very few times in my Saints supporting life, I can't see anything other than a defeat (and possibly a heavy one) on Saturday. Away to the best team in the division, who are on a fantastic run and us with the hangover of the skates, losing belief as the play-off dream slips away and with one eye on Wembley....It IS a funny old game, and I would love to be proved wrong, but I really do only see one result on Saturday. Here's hoping i'm HER'S HOPING IM WRONG[ and you are thank od

red&white56 Posted 20 February, 2010 Posted 20 February, 2010 A surprise win is the best type. Was today ok for you ???

hypochondriac Posted 20 February, 2010 Posted 20 February, 2010 Would you like to justify this opinion? Even with hindsight we'd already matched them twice... They were the much better team in the JPT IMO. Great to win today though.

Fan The Flames Posted 21 February, 2010 Posted 21 February, 2010 Was today ok for you ??? Yes thanks, had a lay in, finished of a bit of nagging DIY, the Saints got a great win, a tea of spicy chicken wings and chips and then a few beers. All in all an OK day.
The9 Posted 22 February, 2010 Posted 22 February, 2010 They were the much better team in the JPT IMO. Great to win today though. Well yeah, but nevertheless we drew that one in 90 mins, so to say "I can't see anything other than a defeat" was a bit silly. Especially as we had about 5 new players available compared to that game.
Window Cleaner Posted 22 February, 2010 Posted 22 February, 2010 They were the much better team in the JPT IMO. Great to win today though. Perhaps we allowed them to look a much better team in the JPT match. Our team has changed since then and perception of the opponents may alter as well. As far as I can grasp from the commentary and the 'highlights' we totally dominated them and gave them no space to express their football.
