Has anyone who was at the Pompey game...

... had the balls to rewatch the game on TV yet?

I recorded it but haven't bothered to watch it!

I'd be interested to know if watching it back on tele changed people's opinions about key events in the game and it would be interesting to know how the crowds came across on tele.

Apparently they used some super dooper microphone which quietened the crowd. From the highlights i've heard it sounds like the only one they had near the pitch was right in front of the Pompey fans.

You're probably right ... I'm sure they have sound trickery which is used to filter out the majority of the crowd noise.

Watched it back in full, yesterday morning. Played the last 5 mins through at FF. As I said at the time, the singing of "Pay up, Pompey" sounded like it came from them. Surely it should be "Wind up, Pompey".

and were you?

Yep, when Utaka got subbed off it zooms in on the itchen north and you can see me for a few seconds or so.

Watching the goals back didn't really change my opinion of the game... thought it was crap defending at the time and saw nothing to change that view.

Yes, watched it last night. FF'd some of it. Reminded me not only of the clear goal chances we created, (e.g one I had forgotten in the first half when Waigo tried to kick it at chest height when a header was the obvious choice), but also the number of overall attacks etc where we should have done better with the final ball, or the cross should have cleared the first defender.

The equaliser was fantastic and the disallowed goal v v frustrating obviously. The overall defending - from the whole team - for the last 3 goals was poor even though the causes were at least partly understandable. The commentators saw it coming - they kept referring to the amount of energy we had spent bossing the midfield and chasing every ball, and how could Saints keep it up until the end..

Overall, still very very proud

I watched it back on sky plus 'cos I was told I was on telly.

Ditto - a total of three times on tele :) However, was impressed with our performance in the first 70 minutes. Fast forwarded the last 20 mins tho :D Didn't realise how close we came to scoring on a couple of occasions

Most clubs definitely do. Some guy made a post about it on a Serie A blog. Have no link to it though :(

I have re watched it..

Awesome save by james to stop waigo's header....and then again from jaidi

lallana should have scored form a header and should have done better with a volley..

Barnard was too keen and should have let lallana tap the ball in

all if's and buts...we were the better team for over an hour and it shows on telly...

the commentators could not stop praising lambert all the time.

4-1 was a massively flattering score line..and I walked away proud of the effort we showed..you cant ask for more than that..on another day..we would have been 2-0 up at HT

Very true need to put away most of our chances - then we will start winning regularly

Thought most of the media were raving about James's save from Lallana?

Haven't watched it on TV, but at the time thought Waigo just messed up...several times ..and Jaidi header over from 6 yards, mostly in surprise at the ball coming to him I suspect to be fair!

But do you think Jaidi should have reacted quick enough to head that ball into the empty net? I wish he can but obviously that was the best chance in the game for us.

Possibly Lambert may have done better but still very tough.

But our best chance that was not scored (apart from the disallowed) was 2nd half when Lallana ran on to a flick on from Lambert and connected with a volley but mis-kicked it slightly and did not get full power on it

I just saw the goals on South Today.

It reminded how frustrating their second was; it looks like a defender should have been able to make it back.

The finish looked jammy on the 3rd; beating Davis at the near post?!?!?!

The 4th shows us to be really stretched. A few defenders back but nobody following OHara in = nightmare!

I was in the chapel and for the third goal, to be fair, he shaped to stick it in the far post, Davis fell for it completely and moved to his left, leaving a massive yawning gap at his near post.

I thought the first two goals were the jammiest. The first was deflected to one of their players who then laid it off to the goalscorer (Quincey something or other). The second just squirmed under Perry's foot on the way to Dindane (I think) and even then Davis got a good hand to it, just enough to loop it in to the far corner beyond Harding running back. Goals 3 and 4 we were just undone for pace having thrown players forward.

Just after the final whistle, when the camera pans to a saints fan giving the 'wonga' sign (rubbing fingers and thumb together), that is my mate Mark, he works for the council.

Nothing else to see imo.

I watched the clip of the highlights on the ITV website as I wanted to see our goal again. I also wanted to see if James' saves were impressive as they looked on the day, and they were - skate bastard.

I watched the first half and put the whole thing on disc for posterity. What you gain is replays of the near goal incidents. Thomas & Waigo (2) should be stretched and flogged for missing easy sitters through it has to be said naivity. They didn't have enough skill to see the chance and convert it all i the blink of an eye which is what better class footballers would do instinctively. Not something you can teach....

If we'd had a Michael Owen we'd have been 3-0 up at least.

watched the highlights, watched Rickies header about 20 times. the commentator i usually despise gives it a right good shout, each time i watch it i remember just how frickin mental i went when it went it. all their goals taken well but i was in line with all of them on the day so didnt need the TV to confirm that. and jameo played a blinder as did o hara i thought.

reminded me of the 2003 final, the usual doughnut defender luzhny played the match of his life to stop beattie and ormerod, this time o hara and some arsenal reject play out of their skins

I have watched the first half on Sky+. Not sure if I'll ever get round to the second.

I think you watched the better half;)

So I would not bother with the second

'twas a great moment...COYR!

Just wish we could have had a couple more in the first half too :(, although don't know how much my shins could've taken after being smashed and bruised against the seat in front of me after one!

I'm watching it at the moment, I'll watch the build-up/half time/our goal/reaction at the end...it's such a horrible feeling knowing what the result will be!

ML looks dumb-founded at the level of noise/support just before KO on the ITV coverage, he is such a legend!
