Draino76 Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Scoring rather highly over at Metacritic; 89 so far. Is this a revolutionary game in terms of storytelling and gameplay or 'essentially a nine-hour film that you nudge along by following on-screen button prompts'? The demo is now out on PSN so will report back later. I really want to like this but I'm not so sure.
Saint_clark Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Basically Fahrenheit but much better isn't it? I'll be buying it, looks very good tbh. EDIT: I never even consider demos. Will get downloading right away so it's ready when I get back from town.
Saint_clark Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Finished the demo, will probably buy it based on that.
Deanovski Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 oh buying it but i didnt think the demo was that great...
Saint_clark Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 Well I loved Fahrenheit and it just completely reminded me of it. At £40 may be a bit steep so might wait a while, but definitely getting it.
Matthew Le God Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 Well I loved Fahrenheit and it just completely reminded me of it. Heavy Rain is made by the same developer.
Saint_clark Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 Doesn't surprise me. A few things are a bit dodgy - like the use of sixaxis, it doesn't always register properly - but it's still very good.
Matthew Le God Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 I never thought I'd see the day where I have to shake a sixaxis controller to use a virtual asthma inhaler!
James_O_Mac Posted 28 February, 2010 Posted 28 February, 2010 Cracking tits on the bird What a story!
NorthamSteve Posted 28 February, 2010 Posted 28 February, 2010 I too, liked fahrenheit and enjoyed the demo. Once all my mates stop getting married and costing me a fortune, I'll buy this too!
Draino76 Posted 28 February, 2010 Author Posted 28 February, 2010 My copy has landed but I am the proud recipient of the YLOD!!! I took my machine apart; then put it back together again and had 3 screws left over lol. Will hand my mess of a console over to the professionals tomorrow.
Bentley Posted 28 February, 2010 Posted 28 February, 2010 Utterly griping game! I think the moment with the burglars in the womans apartment early on in the game was one of the most pulse-pounding moments in gaming I've ever had. I needed a break after it, even though I wanted to keep playing!
St Marco Posted 1 March, 2010 Posted 1 March, 2010 I been trying to play it today but have the error 8001050F which is ****ing me off as says i need an update to play. Won't login to PSN at all. Thankfully seems im not alone in it though.

I'm at work at the moment and haven't been on my PS3 in a while, so don't know if mine has been affected yet.

RedAndWhite91 Posted 1 March, 2010 Posted 1 March, 2010 I'll probably buy this game when it goes down in price a bit. Or pick it up second hand. All of my attention is focused on April 30th - Red Dead Redemption. Back to Heavy Rain though; it does look very very good.
Bentley Posted 2 March, 2010 Posted 2 March, 2010 Completed it today, amazing game. Going to go for some different endings straight away.
Saint_clark Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 (edited) Right, it's STILL not in the shops down here in Weymouth. WTF is going on? Edited 8 March, 2010 by Saint_clark
Saint_clark Posted 9 March, 2010 Posted 9 March, 2010 (edited) Really short when you get into it, completed it in about 5 and a half hours. However, seeing as the killer (and therefore the motives) and change, i'll definitely be playing through again. Edited 9 March, 2010 by Saint_clark
Draino76 Posted 9 March, 2010 Author Posted 9 March, 2010 Grrr I lost a finger, my son and a tasty sequence of polygons.
Saint_clark Posted 9 March, 2010 Posted 9 March, 2010 The only shame for me is that there is no "perfect" ending, where the four main characters all turn out to be on the right side. Also, there are certain events which I think happen on every play through no matter what - Ethan blacking out, having the origami figures in his hand, and his shrink finding one in his office - which are completely unexplained and make no sense whatsoever when someone else is revealed as the killer. Nevermind, it's a fantastic game nonetheless.
Saint_clark Posted 9 March, 2010 Posted 9 March, 2010 Grrr I lost a finger, my son and a tasty sequence of polygons. I hope you cauterized the wound before you left Makes the escape scene much easier...
