I think anyone who has signed this year will still be here next, they all signed up to the vision and knew full well that it might take 2 years to get promoted. The ones more likely to leave are Spiderman and Lallana (and possibly James) who are not newcomers.

How's the Pompey finance report going Vectis?

In answer to the original question, I think he will be here. He came here knowing that we were on -10 and that promotion would be an outside possibility.

If an offer does come in I fully expect us to reject the offer. Although every player does have his price!! I would like to think the board and in particular Cortese - as he is showing what brilliant business acumen (Spelling?) he has, would only accept if the offer was too good to turn down as we simply don't need the money. I also believe that it would have to be a very "Big" club to come in.

I would have also thought that his contract has certain clauses re promotion, goals etc so would automatically gain higher wages.

All in my opinion of course

If we do not go up next year, it may become an issue. As Tommy Mooney said on sky football league show the other night - Does he want to move out of his comfort zone?

Also he is only settling into his recently acquired house, near a mate, so I am not

sure he would want another moving upheaval just now.

Was discussing the matter earlier with Agent Orange (Ken Dullieu), we think between us we can shaft Pompey completely. Here's hoping anyway.:)

personally...I reckon leeds may come in with a bid in the summer..and maybe Forest/WBA if they dont go up

Where did you pluck those names from? there is no substance to this. Lambery came here knowing we were on -10 points, he would have known that promotion was a long shot. He'll be here next season, i'm sure of it.

Reckon you are worrying unecessarily about this one TDD.

Lallana and Schneiderlin will be gone though, imo, but there may be a silver lining to that particular cloud.

Meaning what exactly ??

Those two are two of our brightest young gems alps and could defo do a job in premiership and i would go as far as saying that schniederlin could do a job in the prem in a few years if employed in the right way.

Rickie IMO will never do a job in the prem for us, as much as he is fantastic at this level and probably CCC as well.

He's nowhere near good enough for the premiership and no one will take that sort of gamble, period.

With the current set up we will see off any CCC club that comes knocking.

He's here for a bit.

Sorry - but Saturday suggested otherwise. That said only the lower premiership teams would be likely to come in for him. We can name our own price and presumably replace him with the money we raise. Don't get me wrong - I want him to stay and I believe that he will stay because Pardew is getting the best out of him. I am actually much more concerned about losing Lallana who certainly looked comfortable against Premiership opposition.

He was up against a make shift back four tbf and prayed on Wilson and Mullins' weaknesses.

It has been proved that he can be nullified by decent defenders such as Michalik and Kisnorbo at Elland road.

He is a great player and vital to us but i can't see him being premiership quality.

Hopefully Cortese will try to nail them both down to long term contracts. They should both be on similar money to Lambert and Fonte.

assuming for a mo that promotion is not going to happen..will we be able to keep hold of him..?

dont feed me the lines about not needing to sell etc as if a player wants out then that is what will happen..

I am really worried someone from the CCC or even the prem will go for him...

I'm almost sorry I started the train of thought about this, on another thread. Yes, there will be a chance that Lambert will want to move on at a crucial time in his career. But he won't certainly go for peanuts, and he'll be nobody's bargain, if he goes. For the same reason, Lallana could be a target, as could any Saints star player [Lambert, Lallana, Puncheon, Ballard, Schneiderlin, Hammond, etc...] who does particularly well, if Saints don't quite make the cut this season. Then there are loanees, Waigo and Antonio. I'd like them both for next season, whatever division we're in, but they could be tempted to go elsewhere.

Frankly, I think they'd all be mad to go to other clubs. And I say that without a trace of bias. ;)

I think that he is a handful for defenders at any level and his all round game has improved this year. But, as so often is said, football is a game of opinions.

Meaning that I see difficulties in the structure and nature of our midfield with both of them playing, which would in a peverse way be resolved if they wanted to leave.

Yes, I can see your point. I'm not sure that they are the ideal midfielders for our current level and I would certainly like to see someone more dominating.

i suspect he will be here. But if any top CCC club or lower Premiership club came in for him, I think he would be stupid not to go. The bloke is 27, so if he wants to play at the highest level he will have to make the move very soon. I also think that any of the above clubs will be able match his wages, either through sky tv money or parachute money. Would you prefer to be playing against Man Utd or Arsenal for Burnley or Bolton, or playing Stockport or Walsall for us?? As for wages, I suspect there are players in the CCC earning 5 or six times his money, and a number of clubs could quite easily pay more than we are doing here.

As for being under contract, I think in todays world it means very little. If a player wants to leave they will do. I think every manager we have had including Pardew has echoed these comments over the last decade.

If a player wants to leave there is only so much you can do. If they are adamant about leaving you have very little hope. With the players we have, I cannot see any problems if we were in the CCC, but in league 1 that is totally another story.

If a club like Newcastle or WBA came in for any of those players, they would be mad not to jump at the chance.
