Greenridge Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 I notice there aren't many on here eat humble pie. Plenty of people were slating him earlier in the season and some even very recently. Class act. I can't see him staying so I'm enjoying every game his plays for us. Ah the resident football experts who talk in cliche ridden prose you mean Chez. Anyone who knows even the slightest thing about football will know what Lallana has about him. sadoldgit Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 I agree but I wish he would score more goals he gets in good positions all the time but does not score as many as I think he is capable of You are quite right. He has a good footballing brain and reminds me of the way that he ghosts into great positions of Martin Peters, but his finishing is weak and he needs to get more on the ball when he makes contact. Junior Mullet Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 Listened to his interview after the match and he sounded devastated. On the down side though noticed he swapped shirts with a skate at the final whistle. Unacceptable behaviour Adam!! Yup, pretty much said he wanted to Poopey to go down which didnt impress the Poopey sumariser.
krissyboy31 Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 Yup, pretty much said he wanted to Poopey to go down which didnt impress the Poopey sumariser. Forgot that! ALWAYS_SFC Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 He has without doubt got much, much better due to gaining more experience, good coaching and in no small part being in a team with a mix of experience and youth. He will improve but needs to keep his feet on the ground and not move on to a bigger stage to early as he still has a lot to learn... Glad we have him... dubai_phil Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 I think the new "economic reality" may work in our favour with Adam. He needs at least one more year of development playing every week before he'd be anything other than a bit part player or a full time embarrassment at PL level. He WILL eventually make it of that there is no doubt, but with WHU & the Skates now paying players 1000 a week or less the chances of him getting big bucks to sit in the reserves every week is declining. He needs to add that pace of thought to his skills, and when he "ghosts into position" as someone else wisely said his brain needs to be screaming BURY THE FECKER. WHEN that starts to happen he will be ready but he isn't yet

eelpie Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 The last six weeks have been one of his poorest periods of form. Even with today's MOTM performance, too early to say that he's returned to form. You should have gone to SpecSavers.
hughieslastminutegoal Posted 15 February, 2010 Share Posted 15 February, 2010 lallana was for us what O'Hara was for them Do me a favour. O'Hara scored and created goals for others, and was the only midfielder on either side who looked as though he could call the shots. Lala couldn't strike a ball properly all game. If he could kick a ball properly he'd be taking corners and the odd free kick, instead of us having Lambert out of the danger area so often. He's got some skill, and tries hard, but he is a poor striker of the ball, and his heading is weak (reminds me of Ormerod's heading). The coaches really need to work on that. St Matty Posted 15 February, 2010 Share Posted 15 February, 2010 Forgot that! He said something like 'hope they get relegated and we get promoted so we can play them again in the Championship!' Had to laugh at that - especially when radio Solent tried to minimalise it by saying it was said in the heat of the moment!! no way - he meant it. Well said Adam and well played. Sadly some idiots near me were moaning at him the whole game - who do they want? Ronaldo? St Matty

astrasri Posted 15 February, 2010 Share Posted 15 February, 2010 I fear we will lose him at the end of this season. Agree he was fantastic today. Makes our team tick, IMO. Thinking about this today, it's not just the fans that have so much optimism (well most of us have) it is in the team as well. There is so much chance to go far with this club that I think the players will stay for next season at least. AL is young enough to bide his time for a season or two to enjoy the fruits of a club in resurgance.
SuperMikey Posted 15 February, 2010 Share Posted 15 February, 2010 Felt sorry for him at the end. Looked devastated. He was pretty much the only player on the pitch that looked truly upset that we'd lost. The rest were milling about swapping shirts.

SuperMikey Posted 15 February, 2010 Share Posted 15 February, 2010 So was he. He swapped with O'Hara but they go back a bit and are good friends. True, but he was the player who it seemed to really hit hard. He is a Southampton lad and a Southampton fan though, so it's understandable. Didn't stop running for the entire game though, some lovely touches and passes and often a few perfectly timed tackles thrown in to an all action performance. If he continues to improve his game where he can play at that standard on a weekly basis (obviously he was giving that extra 10% because of it being the derby) then he will go very far in football. The9 Posted 18 February, 2010 Share Posted 18 February, 2010 Lallana also had a left-foot volley in the second half that plopped into James's arms. He has great skill and can hold the ball well but he can't kick through it with real power. When he learns that, he will be awesome, but at his age he should have done so by now. To be fair he can kick with power when he catches the ball right, he just miskicks and scuffs shots too often. And he was excellent on Saturday apart from this.
