Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 The police will make a few arrests using the video footage of maybe 10-20 people who were throwing things/damaging cars, they'll get banning orders and then we'll all move on with our lives - simples! Kingsland Nick Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 According to the Telegraph there was a pitch invasion during the game: The bitter Southampton support, who had watched their team dominate a scoreless first half, invoked the spectre of the taxman to try and puncture the celebrations just as when, during the match, one of their number had leapt onto the pitch in full fake Sheikh regalia to taunt the away fans with a fistful of grubby fivers. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/facup/7215266/Southampton-1-Portsmouth-4-match-report.html I must have been too busy concentrating on the match to have missed this. Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 According to the police, more arrests may follow due to the Brittania Road incident: http://www.hampshire.police.uk/Internet/news/releases/Update+on+Southampton+v+Portsmouth+FA+Cup+Policing+Operation.htm From what I could see, they had a camera man on the upper-floors of the neighbouring flats to the garage filming everything and I'm sure they had a camera in the middle of it all. Editor: Too dangerous.. how about you sit outside the ground during the game and listen to hear if you can report any banter between the crowds? Reporter: Um, er, OK Reporter (by mobile): Gov, it's flippen cold out here - we need a story Editor: Tell you what, we're getting desperate now. Make up a story of violence after the match and take a few pics of police on horses and sh*t like that. Surely that'll sell a few papers? Reporter: OK Gov, shall I throw a few coins as well? Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 15 February, 2010 Share Posted 15 February, 2010 Before the game I was at my mates in Craven Street, and there was a group of about 10 or 15 Pompey yoofs running around causing havoc, and just generally being pr***s. OB came down the road, we pointed to them and a chase ensued, like something out of Benny Hill. When we got home from the game the house opposite was on fire (completely unrelated, chip pan fire). COMEONYOUREDS Posted 15 February, 2010 Share Posted 15 February, 2010 I came out of the ground, saw everyone running over to the garage so went to have a look. All that was going on was a bunch of mongs on either side throwing crap at each other. I would love to know, if all the police weren't there what really would've happened. Probably all shat themselves and gone crying home to mummy, a bit like storrie. The whole thing was an embarrassment. I've always thought the 1 thing that proved we were better than the blue few was that we weren't a bunch of neanderthals, clearly I was wrong. Anybody who thinks this sort of behaviour is cool is a pathetic loser IMO. As hardly anyone outside Hampshire is barely aware such a fierce rivalry exists, I doubt if he did either until recently. SRS, you really are a knob. I haven't condoned anything, just simply stated that you are completely over-reacting if you honestly think there is even the slightest chance that Liebherr will pull his funding based on a few stoned being chucked. I live up in the Midlands and have mates who are fans of clubs up North and in London and none of them think that Saints/Pompey is anything special at all. Not even on their radars.
