Window Cleaner Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 +1 with bells on! Evidence of Burley's ludicrous player buying - one of 600 midfielders he purchased... Idiakiez is like a Morris Minor, you need to get it first hand or else it's clapped out and won't start more often than not. Good player, awful attitude, he'd made his stash and just wanted to idle through another couple of seasons at megabucks per week, same as many of Burley's signings, perhaps even Burley himself. Difficult to argue with that. Darren Powell and Rudi Skacel are others that spring to mind.

alpine_saint Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 I just got FIFA 10 for the Wii from my missus for Valentine's Day. Our dead ball situations are taken by Schneiderlin on that, and hes our best player...
Red&White Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 Given the choice of Ricky providing decent delivery or Ricky fruitlessly waiting for a ball which fails to clear the first defender, I know which I'd prefer. agreed :smt052
Bakovnetski Posted 15 February, 2010 Share Posted 15 February, 2010 its a sad state of afairs when a profesional footballer hasnt got the ability to take a corner? even more so when you have 9 outfield players in one team whocant do it. correct rickys deliverys were good. however he would have put most them chances away. i totaly disagree we had no other players who can take corners or free kicks today. if that is the case the manager should be held responsible for not bringing someone in who can do it. plus the free kick ricky took from our left back possition didnt beat the first man and they had a counter and ricky was last man and they almost scored. so his kicks are not all perfect. he will be taking throws and goal kicks next. Can comppletely agree. It matters not one iota that RL can deliver a good ball into the box if there is no-one who is effective at converting it on the other end of said good ball. RL's job is to get in there and use his best talent at scoring the goals or setting someone else up at close range. 9 others on the pitch cant be that bad. What about Harding or Lallana, Schneidelin even? I hope AP has learned a valuable lesson from this match. Dont expect RL to do everything so we become a one-man team that others can easily stifle. northam soul Posted 15 February, 2010 Share Posted 15 February, 2010 agreed :smt052[/quote The one time lambert was in the box - correct me if i am wrong but he scored so on that basis it is pointless him taking corners and free kicks unless the free kicks are of a potential to hit the back of the net. Perhaps having Rickie take nearly all the set pieces and then winding up unmarked to score from the one exception was the result of a bit of Machiavellian cunning from our coaching staff? He really is quite good at it, or was a couple of years ago when I had the opportunity to see him practising at Clairefontaine. It's something that AP has decided, no midfielders taking set pieces, you'd have to ask him why that is.

Well, she bought it here. But the game is the same in each country, only with different languages
SNSUN Posted 15 February, 2010 Share Posted 15 February, 2010 I thought it was strange that Lambert was taking the set pieces, but he is very good at them. James and Harding are the other set piece takers, but with James out of the side currently there is very little option.
Brussels Saint Posted 15 February, 2010 Share Posted 15 February, 2010 Does anyone know if Puncheon took free kicks/corners at MK? I agree there is no way Lambert should be doing this. I actually think AP also knows it, but no one else apart from James has measured up to the task. I'm a huge Morgan fan, but not sure why he has not stepped up to mark on this issue. redkeith Posted 15 February, 2010 Share Posted 15 February, 2010 Listening to the Exeter game, both Mills and James were hitting the first defender with all the set piece's, and we know from earlier in the season that Llanana could barely reach the first defender with his. I think that we need to get the whole squad to practice taking corners, maybe with Tiss popping in for some specialised coaching . With any of our current midfield taking them, you could have Dave Watson, Richard Hall, Ken Monkou and Ron Davis in the box and still not score, as the ball would never reach them. The Tango Man Posted 15 February, 2010 Share Posted 15 February, 2010 Our centre forward needs to be exactly where his position implies..CENTRE AND FORWARD..surely other players should taking free kicks and corners and aiming for him..Just look at Ron Davies..did he ever take corners and free kicks !!!!! Ricky although he scored ..could if we was in and aroung the box , have had a couple more form sure.
dune Posted 16 February, 2010 Share Posted 16 February, 2010 If Pardew deploys Lambert like this ever again he needs sacking.

Smirking_Saint Posted 16 February, 2010 Share Posted 16 February, 2010 He delivers our best delivery currently ???? I get the point about him needed to header them in but for christ sake he needs someone to deliver a decent cross on his head. Or do you want him to kick it and run really fast and header it in aswell ??
Saint Fan CaM Posted 16 February, 2010 Share Posted 16 February, 2010 To be honest I didn't think Lamberts delivery was any better than I've seen Lallana or Harding provide. So yes, he should not be taking these kicks.

When Rickie got it right , he was terrific, but there were two or three occasions on Saturday where Lambert's dead ball kicks reached no further than the first defender. His last was the one before Harding took over. Obviously, AP, Hammond or Rickie himself decided enough was enough.

Matthew Le Tissier Posted 16 February, 2010 Author Share Posted 16 February, 2010 think its clear most people agree, and the rest think our other 9 outfield players are not capable of putting a corner in. i bet some of them who play them selves wouldnt class them selves as incapable of taking a corner? if you play football for a living im ****ing dam sure you should be able to take a corner.if not get another job

He is as good as Messi, Christano Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic. Even my friend who knows nothing about Lambert agrees that to a certain extent. Also, the suprise package really must be Thompson. He is extremely pacey and is not too far away compare with Christano Ronaldo. Do you always bench those two?
