Well I can tell him about all of them too (and bigdavewatson), and we all know I know more than you about football ;)

PLus, I remember quite a few from last year... (hence my post about the equality of the teams! ;) )

But it'll be a laugh if nothing else.

 I will only go as far as to say "I will actually listen to your opinion on it", which doesn't go for that many others. That is true, but you'll be too busy enjoying yourself.

I'm not entirely sure of the equality of the teams either... get Spades on pitch and it might look a bit more even.

TBF when it comes to working out how to incorporate the likes of Magnet at CB you'll thank me. :D

Scouting reports for

LB: JustMike

CM: prideofthesouth

CM: Noodles (45)

ST: stevegrant

RM: Robsk II (45)

RB: Minty

RM: Andy Porter (45)

ST: B Rabbit

CB: magnet (45)

RM: Danny (45)

ST: Foxy (45)

if you want them (seeing as you've got at MOST one game to go on and I've played alongside all of them at least five times except Mike and maybe Andy P)... ;)

er... "gaffer".

Very much appreciated if you can give me a low down on them. Could you prioritise any old injuries and weaknesses that we could target. Phils team players only of course for the injuries. If you could let me know of my new players abilities (without too much laughing) that would be useful as well.

Yeah, and do it on this thread too... :D

One thing will never change though The9...

Dean Court: SHINNER.

It was a deliberately controlled overhead kick that went exactly where I aimed it, the exact part of the "foot" used is neither here nor there. :D

@Gaffer. Do you have a couple of cardboard folders for my notes ?

As a taster, Robsk has Hobbit toes, and his right foot is designed for digging holes. ;)

Nick, we have to be confident this year. After outplaying them for 75 mins last year, I'm sure our squad will be able to keep that level of performance for 90 minutes this year round. Bring em on I say!

Yes it will be fun getting bummed 5-0 and having to listen to Prideofthesouth gloat about it for the next year.... and pay £240 for it.

I might red card myself in the last 5 due to frustration and break knee caps :)

It would be at least 2 years:D

We will win, our left winger stusdad will give you a torrid time in the second half!

Maybe he will, but he's only one player.

Anyway, if he's so good, what happened to you?! Adopted?! ;)

Can someone give me a summary of last year's game please?

In an unbiased fashion :

> Hamster tried to kill me 30 seconds in and failed

> Griffo ripped the home team's dodgy defence to bits with a through ball to me for the first within 2 minutes

> We got a dodgy handball pen to go 2-0 up from Baj's pen

> They got a scuffed reply that went straight through the keeper

> They accidentally passed to me in midfield and I got our 3rd.

> Both me and Baj were injured by now but he cunningly limped off quickest

> Dave Ford came on and looked like bloody Socrates out there

I forget what happened after that, and haven't watched the second half on DVD, but it went something like

> Nothing happened for 20 minutes

> They cheated loads on subs

> Jammy winner involving 86 rebounds and a big hoof.

A perfect summary. Read last years stuff and you can see how deep the wounds are.

Granty got really close to being humiliated and has made damned sure it wont happen again.

I still have faith that the togetherness we get on the noight ewill give them a fright.

We still have some good players and some heart. It would beinteresting to see the ages of them and us. We have quite a few long in the tooth and Granty has filled his side with youth as well.The9 should have played that would even it up a bit. No doubt Fos will all of a sudden be parachuted in for a last 20 minute cameo, bending the rles to suit.

I think the teams should have been picked like they did in the school playground, line them all up and pick them 1 at a time until Hamster was left at the end to be given to who had chosen last.

And that team goes on to win. Niot really sure what your point is here nicky baby? Are you saying that your boys lost because of how rubbish we were?

Centreback for the second half? That'll do me - hopefully Steve will be knackered by then and I can have a quiet time of it :)

Really looking forwards to this - time to start some proper training!

Steve, update the first post with the teams (or start a new one)... i keep losing the post with them in. Ta.

(BTW, thinking back to last year, I can't help but feel that the away side is a bit stronger...has Mr Grant tailored things to his liking there?! ;) )

For sure he has, I bet he's hoping that I'll do my normal and dive in so he gets a pen :-)

Well this is the stuff of dreams.

Page 4 of Sports Psychology for Dummies and D_P states. It is important that you strike early to gain a crucial mental advantage. Any methodology that can be used to inflict the beginnings of Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt amongst the opposition should be ruthlessly exploitd.

So, nice try to deflect the facts nickh by attempting to introduce this new "oh it's not fair" line. But it won't work, the Boysh now know full well that this is all a lame attempt to deflect from the debilitating impact of the George Michaelesque Mars Bars in the shower story.

If I could find a negative angle to this right now, it would be that this tactical victroy for us does have one limitation alongside the team selection, as I may have to rethink our tactics for the second half. I'm not so sure that we can get the instructions out to BigDaveWatson to play in the hole quite so enthusiastically now.

It isn't fair - feck me - what's next, blaming the Premier League for not rolling the pitch? The Echo for not covering the game in full? (Oh ok well, not that one perhaps)

You behave and get back on focus or I'll have to email Big Dave Merrington to come down and sit in the stand behind your dug out to make comments through a mega-phone all through the match......

Hmmmm now THERE's an idea....

Dear Phil, how can we gain revenge when players seeking to do so have now been moved to the opposition.

Of course your overconfidence will be the undoing of your team.

Granty has dealt the cards and reading the posts he has been through the pack beforehand and tried to keep all the aces.

Thankfully spirit and desire will beat all the fancy Dan stuff your boys will put up.

My team talk will be targetted, I do hope granty has got shinpads that stretch to his waist, and he'll need those when he in the tunnel before the game.

Posted
Sorry, tried doing a highlight on the fancy dan statement Nick, but it was beyond me. Anyway, rest assured I will not be serving up any fancy dan stuff

You are right there, add to the fact that Phil cant throw you on when the ref is not looking,Lol.

I will be happy to watch you lumbering around at centre back, the last 20 will be interesting when I bring on my ringer....a fast and mobile centre forward...Foxy will of course be on for 45 minutes but I will give him 9 x 5 minute spells throughout the game. it seems normal rules re subs are forgotten in this football fest.

It is an absolutely amazing experience- to anyone that's doing it for the first time. I was wary at first due to the cost of it the first time round but the excitement in the months building up to the game is unreal. Steve and the club do their best to make sure it's all organised properly too. Hope everyone enjoys it this time round, it's certainly something you never forget.

Jesus after reading all that, I am abit worried about playing against Nickh "team".

Sounds as if losing this "much win game" means you never hear the end of it lol

Only when you experienced the evening will you understand. Some great lads and fun for all.

Phil goes to any length to win though.Lol

Well, at least there was ONE home team manager at SMS last season who knew what needed to be done to win. :D

Yep, luckily the one in charge this season is doing a better job.

Who have you booked as the ref for our game? Your brother again or Granty's close family

Not sure on the ref, but Baresi & Maldini have confirmed they have the photos from last year and are getting their disguises ready for the evening. We struggled a bit there when Fos1 didn't sign up.

Van Basten is a slight doubt as he doesn't like Flybe for some reason but may be able to get him in via Heathrow and give him a lift down in my rental, having not watched much CL in the last 10 years not sure whether I should ask Simeone or Di Canio if we can't agree terms with Marco.

Had a real heartbreaker though this evening, had to tell George Clooney there would be no place as a ringer in the team for him. It's a real shame, he'd been watching the video of Hamster and was all set ready to make it.

Seems it has become a real problem now as he was planning to turn last years match and build up into a movie following the success of Matt Damon & Morgan Freeman in that movie of that other globally famous sporting clash.

Think I may have found a way around that but have to speak to Quentin first

Don't worry, I'm sure the guys will buy you a nice Pizza after the game and I'll keep you informed how the AC Milan job interview goes.

I have been told that Juventus have come in and offered 10k for BigDave Watson and Frey Bentos has offered £10 for the rest of your team

Don't be silly.

That is nowhere NEAR enough money

To cover The Flying Finn & D_P's bar tab after the game

I think it is a well good offer, that tough old meat is not good to man nor beast. I think the Fray Bentos offer is done as aloss leader to get at the prime stuff in our side.

You see, that's the whole difference in approach right there.

to me, my team are highly tuned athletes, motivated to a peak of mental and physical toughness.

Whereas to you, your guys are viewed as a lump of meat.

Anyway, enough of this frivolty, I'm off to mail that Tiger Woods letter to some more mates after I have another lol on the takeover thread.

I'm feeling quite chirpy, I've managed to upset PES AND Corpie in the space of a few days. Sweet

tee hee. Must admit there is something about the pitch that seems to sap all the energy from your legs, heck it took me days to recover any feeling in my legs after the kick-about before the game (or was that the beer). Don't worry Doc Zeuss, just head down a beach each evening and sprint up and down a dozen sand dunes pulling a bag of cement behind you. You'll be right as rain on the big day.

But seriously, for the newbies on both sides, anything you can do to improve your all round stamina will help, even the uberfootballing types started to struggle with cramp and muscle pulls last year, even the mighty Drogbaj & Hamster, a mixture of the excitement, adrenalin and the pitch.

Pain during the game is to be expected, and not just from Influenced.Com's badly timed tackles or abuse from the packed stands for missing another sitter...

But should we be working on our stamina for during the game or for the post match drinks? ;)

When does the game take place? (Roughly speaking; what month even?)

Part time working has led me to become lazy and unfit, eating and sleeping the days away.

My fitness regime begins now! (Tomorrow. Or perhaps the day after. Maybe next week.)
