OldNick Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 To demonstrate the retardedness of the officials last night, you got a free-kick for that I think it is bad sportsmanship to blame the officials
OldNick Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 We were disallowed a clear goal, after my finest moment of the game. and that was???
Robsk II Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 A beautiful dink over the defense to free (I think it was Dr Zeuss) to score.. clearly onside.
stevegrant Posted 28 May, 2010 Author Posted 28 May, 2010 I think it is bad sportsmanship to blame the officials We were beaten by the better team, no argument there. However, some of the decisions were disgraceful, really. The one time we got a 50/50 decision in our favour, we had a 3-on-2 break but the ref a) refused to play advantage, and b) then stopped us taking it quickly. Strangely, he let you take as many quick free kicks as you liked all evening.
Minty Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Not so sure about that Rob, it was very close... I couldn't say for certain but he certainly wasn't 'clearly' onside...
LA77 Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 I like this one....wasn't going to win the header...so i'll just gently smash my way into you whilst you are in the air.... =) When did Prutton come back?
Robsk II Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Not so sure about that Rob, it was very close... I couldn't say for certain but he certainly wasn't 'clearly' onside... Great ball, though...
B Rabbit Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 To demonstrate the retardedness of the officials last night, you got a free-kick for that I don't remember it...but both his arms are on my shoulders = push in the back and climbing = foul
Minty Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 I have a couple of shots in sequence before that one that clearly show his hands on Rabbit's shoulders, TBF... I'll add them to the group over the weekend.

Strangely, he let you take as many quick free kicks as you liked all evening. If you are talking about the 2nd half , i agree a quick free kick should be allowed, but not 5 yards forward from the offence, and you were rightly told to move the ball back to the right place. I think there were decisions that could have gone both ways, a couple of hand balls were not called, but for me Foxy's offside decision seemed very harsh. All in all , i thought the ref did well, although he may well have called a foul when Influenced tapped your ankle
OldNick Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 A beautiful dink over the defense to free (I think it was Dr Zeuss) to score.. clearly onside. i thought it was shot , but your foot got stuck in the turf and that sent the ball in a slow arc
OldNick Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Shut up. It was an exquisitely weighted dink. not a attempt to lob the keeper then
Robsk II Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Certainly not. Though it would have been funny to do that to Lee.
The9 Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 So, as I was unable to attend, can I start the clamouring for a DVD ? Was it filmed ?
OldNick Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 So, as I was unable to attend, can I start the clamouring for a DVD ? Was it filmed ? Yes and the managers were interviewed again. There were only two copies of that last year and Baj had them and never found the time or inclination to forward them on. This year Granty has said he will make sure they do make their way to us afterall the players got their DVD Some quite good passing football at times was played, and also a few decent goals and saves. Like all games a lot of dross but entertaining im sure
Lets B Avenue Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Whilst one manager was sent off, the other was severely repremanded by a steward, for drinking in the dug-out area. And there were children present.
OldNick Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Whilst one manager was sent off, the other was severely repremanded by a steward, for drinking in the dug-out area. And there were children present. Disgraceful behavior, but those sandeaters just don't know how to behave. The stewards should have ejected the barrackers sitting by the bench. What a grim picture i had to turn to, Hamster and Lets be Avenue with their jeers and hand gesturing. Peace was restored when the 4th hit the back of the net though. i haven't seen such long faces since Camilla went a did a horse head judging competition
OldNick Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Was Markus there? NC Im told was having it beamed live to Switzerland, so they could assess the of motivation i could instill in a side. Im waiting for the call, I keep checking the phone to check i have put it back on the cradle correctly, knowing NC i suspect he is playing the waiting game and will give me the call later
Smirking_Saint Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Scudamore managed to facebook stalk me and spot me, make me buy a programme, then point me out the Phil and Nick........not sure why, probably so they could put a face to my online hilarity. Shame i didnt meet Hamster and get that pint mind........ Rabbit trying to run off cramp....lol The 'fight'......lol Stevegrant getting crunched after about 30secs......nearly vengeance for the knee. I echo smirking_moron in that next year i fully expect to be pulling the strings in the midfield one my genetically modified knee arrives. How is the leg now then oh crippled one ?
Spades Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Is Al going to be putting his pictures on here aswell? Also, any idea how long t will be for the dvd to be produced? We talking weeks or months?
stevegrant Posted 28 May, 2010 Author Posted 28 May, 2010 Is Al going to be putting his pictures on here aswell? Also, any idea how long t will be for the dvd to be produced? We talking weeks or months? If I remember rightly, it took 6-8 weeks last year. Hopefully won't be quite as long this time around.
Spades Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 If I remember rightly, it took 6-8 weeks last year. Hopefully won't be quite as long this time around. Not too bad... how is it dispatched? Sent to a requested addres or do we have to come and pick it up from somewhere?
OldNick Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Fantastic game - shame the only thing of note I did in my 45 minutes was set up the away team's first goal. That's not quite the case, and when you watch it on your DVD you will see that.
Minty Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Is Al going to be putting his pictures on here aswell? The pictures on the link are both mine and Al's, I am processing them all. I have over 1000 to go through, hence the rather quick and rough first draft just to get some of the more obvious shots online like the goals. I put a note on the flickr album explaining which shots are Al's and which are mine, if anyone is interested.

Is there any way i can get a copy of them all on a cd or something? (il send you a fee of course)
OldNick Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Nice to see another shot of Granty looking like a gimp has found its way into Minty's photoset... The best bit is Influenced wandering away without a care in the world after his tackle on Granty
stevegrant Posted 28 May, 2010 Author Posted 28 May, 2010 Not too bad... how is it dispatched? Sent to a requested addres or do we have to come and pick it up from somewhere? Can do either. Last year I emailed everyone just before I got all the copies back from Baj/hamster to get postal addresses - obviously anyone who wants to collect theirs in person can do so, although it's possible that I may have moved to London by that stage this year...
stevegrant Posted 28 May, 2010 Author Posted 28 May, 2010 The best bit is Influenced wandering away without a care in the world after his tackle on Granty And thanks to that tackle, I am struggling to walk. Possible ligament damage, need to get it looked at.
Spades Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 And thanks to that tackle, I am struggling to walk. Possible ligament damage, need to get it looked at. i dont remember a bad tackle in the game lol! maybe i was waving to my mum in the crowd at that point!
OldNick Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 i dont remember a bad tackle in the game lol! maybe i was waving to my mum in the crowd at that point!it wasnt a bad tackle but strong.I'm sorry that Granty is suffering though. That's the trouble as you get old, tackles you could ride when you are in your thirties are not so easy in your forties
OldNick Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 And thanks to that tackle, I am struggling to walk. Possible ligament damage, need to get it looked at. If you think it is that bad I think you should quickly Granty as you may need to have a cast put on it
Minty Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Is there any way i can get a copy of them all on a cd or something? (il send you a fee of course) Yeah, no worries, I'll arrange something to make them all available to anyone interested in due course.
stevegrant Posted 28 May, 2010 Author Posted 28 May, 2010 Will probably pop to the hospital this evening... expect it's probably just heavy bruising but worth getting it checked out anyway.
Spades Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 If you think it is that bad I think you should quickly Granty as you may need to have a cast put on it Oh by the way nick, just wana thank you for your input yesterday! Top notch gaffering from the side-lines... in the first half anyway, i couldnt hear you second half beng so far away
OldNick Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Will probably pop to the hospital this evening... expect it's probably just heavy bruising but worth getting it checked out anyway. Difficult to know what is best, it may settle down quickly. I was right by it and didn't hear any bones cracking or anything like that. I would have thought as you managed to play another half hour or so it is bruising where you twisted your ankle.

Top notch gaffering from the side-lines... in the first half anyway, i couldnt hear you second half beng so far away second half i didn't need to shout so much as we were in the main coasting, only time i did throw my hands up in despair was when Influenced passed the ball across the box to you and you got caught in possession and they could easily have scored.
Spades Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 second half i didn't need to shout so much as we were in the main coasting, only time i did throw my hands up in despair was when Influenced passed the ball across the box to you and you got caught in possession and they could easily have scored. haha yeh that was a heart in mouth moment! I could see him closing me down out of the corner of my eye so i ust tried to flick it away from him... didnt anticipate there was a second man backing him up!

I would have thought as you managed to play another half hour or so it is bruising where you twisted your ankle. It happened after about 5 minutes of the game, I think! 80-odd minutes of hobbling around trying to get through it on adrenalin alone probably hasn't helped my cause, tbf, but there was no way I was coming off! ](*,)

You should have been sent to the stands for holding my shirt when trying to take a throw
OldNick Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 You should have been sent to the stands for holding my shirt when trying to take a throw the referee should have booked you for timewasting, by impersonating a footballer
JustMike Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 the referee should have booked you for timewasting, by impersonating a footballer hahaha :smt089

Arizona Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 I don't remember it...but both his arms are on my shoulders = push in the back and climbing = foul Yes, it's quite a neat trick shoving someone in the back so that they quite obviously fall TOWARDS your chest. That's the only header I won. Ever. And it was 'disallowed'. I will have to settle for destroying your individuality on here instead.
