SaintDonkey Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Fantastic game - shame the only thing of note I did in my 45 minutes was set up the away team's first goal. Spades man of the match for sure. Wish I was in the pub with the rest of NickH's Red Army rather than on a train. P.S. Realised from looking at the programme that I was the old man of the home team ( can't compete with StusDad though!)
GenevaSaint Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Losing side and was overrun in the 1st half but really enjoyable. Thanks lads. I might have to start training now for next years game ! Nice to meet a few people, wish I could have had a more few beers. DP, Nick_H, Scudamore, Granty thanks guys.
B Rabbit Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 We played bloody brilliant in the first half...really good strong performance...Second half we held our own, I think people were feeling the effects of the pitch! Good game chaps Spades MotM for me easily...
Um Bongo Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Well, it was a good game. We were poor first half, but got it together second half and played the better of the football. 5-2 is a bit harsh but that's football for you. Highlight of the night was seeing nickh told to 'shut it' and go to the stands by the ref, who, like all of us, had heard enough of his voice. Some good goals scored as well, the Home teams first was pretty special, along with the away teams first. I am still at the ground looking for my left knee.
Minty Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 (edited) The first batch of pics, including most of the goals and nickh's 'sending off', all here: The first goal: The second: Third: Fourth: A sequence of the fifth: And the away sides first goal: I missed their other goal as I was trying to help stretch Steve's f*cked muscle!!! B Rabbit Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 That's even more impressive mate, you weren't even looking!
B Rabbit Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Rabbit, thanks for sorting my calf out. God that hurt! Pussssssyyyyyy!
Redondo Saint Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Excellent Minty!!! Really enjoyed that - looks a better evening in Soton than over here. Really curious as to why not many 'older' players in the teams? I'm 47 and have a game tonight !
Smirking_Saint Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Shame, would have come up to watch it and put a few names to faces etc but was too busy drinking my sorrows Still, hopefully the knee will be sorted for next year, and hopefully i'll get a place, well done tonight guys.
Robsk II Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Enjoyed that! Was really concerned about my metatarsal and total lack of fitness after 4 months out of any exercise, but in the end I played a bit better than I feared. Next year will be better! Oh and we drew 2-2 while I was on

Scudamore managed to facebook stalk me and spot me, make me buy a programme, then point me out the Phil and Nick........not sure why, probably so they could put a face to my online hilarity. Shame i didnt meet Hamster and get that pint mind........ Rabbit trying to run off cramp....lol The 'fight'......lol Stevegrant getting crunched after about 30secs......nearly vengeance for the knee. I echo smirking_moron in that next year i fully expect to be pulling the strings in the midfield one my genetically modified knee arrives.

Oh and we drew 2-2 while I was on IMO you looked about 4stone lighter than last time i saw you.......which was probably at the 5-a-side thing at Fleming park about 2 years ago, if not more. Lungs said you had AIDS? Hence the weight loss?
Robsk II Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Lungs can suck my balls. Although I did lose 2 stone compared to 2 years ago, so you have a point.
B Rabbit Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 What a volley for the first it was all in the lay back set up
saint_stevo Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 from facebook- Steve Grant is in pain. ****ing ankle. Looking forward to seeing just how over-the-top-of-the-ball the two-footed lunge that caused it was...
OldNick Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Highlight of the night was seeing nickh told to 'shut it' and go to the stands by the ref, who, like all of us, had heard enough of his voice. . Hey you were sick of hearing me celebrate as each goal went it.

Looking forward to seeing just how over-the-top-of-the-ball the two-footed lunge that caused it was... Good to put a face to the name....or perhaps not. i said to Scudamore , 'Which one is saint stevo' his reply 'He's the one in the hoodie' lol Sorry you couldnt get off yer a### to come and say hello.......oh you did but couldnt get up for your knee.

A very stylish hoodie tho! I was actually trying to figure out how Scu knew who i was, then remembered that somehow we are FBk friends I thought a wave was proficient for our first meeting. Oh and next year i would like to be in Phil's XI.............
jawillwill Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 I missed their other goal as I was trying to help stretch Steve's f*cked muscle!!! Who's the girl?
SaintDonkey Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Who's the girl? That would be me - where would you like to be kicked and how hard
LA77 Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 What was the atmosphere like? And did the yoof behave? Why wasn't block 3 open ffs
Arizona Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Enjoyed that, even if I didn't have much luck against Neilza. Same time next year? Nice to pun a few more faces to their forum alter egos and was funny when Nick got told to shut up. Shame about the result.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Agree with that Spades and Influced both put in brilliant performance as did the whole team a fantastic effort from everyone involved on both sides but those two really stood out IMO. Cracking performance up front from Russell (don't know the forum name) as well didn't stop running and scored a peach. Great day, so glad I played again. Thanks to Steve for making it happen again, hopefully we can do another game next summer. Cheers mate
Spades Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Absolutely loved tonight! Thank you too all that helped in the organisation of it! And thanks to those that voted me Motm, really appreciate it! We put in a great effort as a team though. To score in front of the northam is something il never forget Well done boys!, cya next year
jawillwill Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 That would be me - where would you like to be kicked and how hard Well, you look beautiful. Feisty too - I like that in a girl.
hamster Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Shame i didnt meet Hamster and get that pint mind........ next year i fully expect to be pulling the strings in the midfield one my genetically modified knee arrives. I was there during (guarding phil's Magners) and after, even had next week's pocket money in hand to buy that beer. The hoodie by the way, made you look a bit chavvy if I'm honest, not sure the bar staff would have served you. Next year eh? I must admit to being jealous of those on the pitch, but I trained last year and struggled, never say never though.
Spades Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 i fear iv broken a metatarsal in my right foot. Woke up this morning in absolute agony... i cant walk im half regretting staying on and playing through the pain for the last 25minutes now!!!

Woke up this morning in absolute agony... i cant walk im half regretting staying on and playing through the pain for the last 25minutes now!!! 2 months ago I kicked someone's studs and woke up the next morning in agony and couldn't walk. Went to the hospital and they couldn't tell whether it was fractured. I done that nearly 2 months ago and could still feel pain in my foot last night. I'd get it checked out if I were you mate.
OldNick Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 the highlight of last night for me was saintDonkey at the end going down and kissing the pitch. That said it all for all who played, it wasn't being the best but just playing at Mecca. Well done Donkey
OldNick Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Dubai Phil, Dubai Phil, are you listening, Saddam Hussain, King Faisel,Lawrence of Arabia, Sheik Yerhand, your boys took hell of a beating
OldNick Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Oh and next year i would like to be in Phil's XI............. You did look like a loser, you'll fit right in
Robsk II Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 We drew the second half. That was the important half.

Remember that next time you switch that laptop on
maddog Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Quality evening, really enjoyed it. Like Nick H said it wasnt about winning just getting the chance to step out on that pitch and experience it all.
The9 Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Nice to see another shot of Granty looking like a gimp has found its way into Minty's photoset...
B Rabbit Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 I like this one....wasn't going to win the header...so i'll just gently smash my way into you whilst you are in the air.... =)
OldNick Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 (edited) My match report. First thing to say, i hope that Bigdave Watson recovers quickly form his injury, and was a great miss to the away side. his place taken up by Lawrie Macs son, who ably filled his space. The first 10 minutes were quite scrappy with little action. All of a sudden the team took my request to pass and not hoof wherever you played and we played some really good triangular passing moves, one touch stuff Bally would have been drooling about. We instantly upped our game and DP's team were chasing shadows, which in the heat was tough. We had one move that came from right back right through midfield and sadly not able to finish with a goal but their keeper made a decent save to put it for a corner. It was obvious that a goal must come and duly did with a cracking finish by Saintsforlife7.That made us settle more and the floodgates now seemed certain to open up. With our captain Influenced.com in midfield pulling the strings Spades fired the second home. DP's side were tiring and if was not for some superb last ditch defending by Geneva and especially the Flying Finn (in my team last year) and keeping by Redarmy79 we would have made it 6or7 before half time. JustMike was given a torrid time by Spades (who IMO should get off his backside and make himself known and get into a high standard of football) Another flowing move saw the third goal, after another defence splitting move Spades was through on goal and unselfishly slid the ball across goal for Rabbit to slide home.Instantly we were back on the attack and a now tired away side saw Magnet through but his attempt went agonizingly wide from a difficult angle. Our midfield was working hard and the away side had Noodles trying to hold it together and was ably supported by his other teammates but the endeavor and passing of my teams was just too good. LeeSaint our keeper was getting cold in the heat as he had nothing to do apart from collecting a few stray balls and one he pushed past the post,i put that down as one for the camera though.A terrific defensive partnership of Bpsaint and OOhTerryHurlock had snuffed out Um Bongo''s and an ever more frustrated Granty's attacking threat. They had nothing to feed on, Neilza was in control on the left and Spades was up and down the pitch comfortably controlling that side. Scudamore was left trying to help justMike deal with Spades and that was an impossible task. No doubt Scudamore was also regretting alluding to in the pre match banter Influenced being a short fat bast###, as after a challenge my captain offered to remove his head from his shoulders, all in the best possible taste of course Lol. Im sure Influenced will apologise for his enthusiasm. To the relief of the away side half time came. My job was easy, just wander in and to keep their heads, and get the new players ready for the 2nd half. It was never going to be the same, we were comfortably in control. The second half started with scrappy football. The away side had a new injection players into midfield and slowly were turning the game possession wise. A brilliant first time hook forward by Foxy sent Dan Kerrins through and looked certain to score but a brilliant save from redarmy79, kept them in the game. One or two if the away fans thought that was game changing, and were happy to tell me so, but Red and White 91 soon made it 4-0 with a smart finish. The away fans who had been getting above themselves quietened a bit then. A scrappy goal mouth scramble left them to get a goal back (not sure who was the goalscorer Dr Zuess or St Nando, but a useful finisher) This came at a time when Bpsaint our rock in defence had limped off and could not risk playing on. That meant a reshuffle bringing onSaintsforlife7 and Spades going into the centre of defence alongside the enthusiastic and imposing SaintDonkey with Influenced moving back into a shielding role. This gave the impetus to the away side, although we still looked like we could score again if need be. A five minute period where we were still trying to get our shape again did cause some concern, they hit the bar and LeeSaint made a superb save that stopped their charge, that then petered out. Rabbit who was surprising not Orange, had run himself into the ground and came off with a calf injury, and so again the tireless Magnet came on to fill his role until Rabbit decided to come back on again and then came off again allowing Andy Porter another unsung hero to finish the game. Twice Maddog was unlucky with headed attempts, and the game was ebbing and flowing. Whilst 4-1 up the game could easily turn on another goal by the away side but from a corner , the ball fell at the feet of Red and White91 and before he had shot i knew he would score. his composed finish belied his young years.5-1 game over. The away side got a late consolation goal (again Dr Zeuss or St Hando) For the last 10 minutes knowing the job was done i could happily sit in the dugout, the referee thought he had ordered me to but it was my decision to do so and sit chatting to my squad. The final whistle came and Saint Donkey dropped to his knees and kissed the pitch, a classic moment that summed up what this game/club means to us. I hope the photographers got a picture of that and not waiting for any of my approach to the ref at the final whistle. Thanks to Granty for organising this again, to all who played and even Al De Man and Minty for taking the time for turning up to take pictures. Of course the friends and family who also sat through this and cheered when it was suggested that i go and sit down by the ref. Last season Influenced was the Motm, this season he was just edged out by Spades Edited 28 May, 2010 by OldNick
Minty Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 Nice to see another shot of Granty looking like a gimp has found its way into Minty's photoset... I have a duty to Forum members, and I shaln't be found wanting...

Robsk II Posted 28 May, 2010 Posted 28 May, 2010 We were disallowed a clear goal, after my finest moment of the game.
