saintsforlife7 Posted 26 May, 2010 Posted 26 May, 2010 Just back from my 5-a-side with a whack to my ankle for good measure, 50-50 but i'm sure i'll be fine for tomorrow, or I'll tell my body that I am anyways. Not long to go, only 1 more sleep! Only joking, when you scored the winner last year you feel that this year might not live up to expectations ;)

Not long to go, only 1 more sleep! Only joking, when you scored the winner last year you feel that this year might not live up to expectations ;) I played on astroturf last night, seemed fate was out to stop me playing tomorrow. Went over funny on my ankle, but managed to stretch it off after five mins. Then I tripped over my own feet trying to turn a defender (yes, I am THAT good) and took a not inconsiderable amount of skin off my left knee and elbow. Chickened out of playing badminton tonight after that.
OldNick Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Only joking, when you scored the winner last year you feel that this year might not live up to expectations ;) that was a scuff not a shot
OldNick Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 To all players if you read Steves email, you must have shinpads. For the better built you may need to bring some shorts or socks just in case. We dont want you going out looking like you have lycra shorts on lol
B Rabbit Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 today's the day! :-) come on the away team!!!! ***** the away team, ***** them in their stupid buttholes. That's what I say...... I'm getting my focus on now. I'm going to start punching myself in the face, looking in the mirror, making my war cry. Death to the opponent.

Um Bongo Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Weather forecast for this evening is sunshine....would rather it stays like this! Perfect football weather.
stevegrant Posted 27 May, 2010 Author Posted 27 May, 2010 Weather forecast for this evening is sunshine....would rather it stays like this! Perfect football weather. Yeah, I'm quite happy with the light drizzle, to be honest! That said, could get a bit murky late in the game again - will have to check if we can have the floodlights on!
maddog Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Get those floodlights on!!! So pleased its not really hot to
Edmonton Saint Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Good Luck everyone, hope you have a fantastic time like I did last year. Just a shame that a knee operation has put paid to my chances of playing for Big Phil again.
Spades Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Steve, can we park at the ground? I assume so. I would assume so, i dont imagine the car parks will be too busy.... Question is, do we get to use the players parking spaces outside the megastore... or do we have to settle for the spaces outside the Northam!!!!???
JustMike Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 last year i parked in the players car park. It'll be empty so park where you want
Um Bongo Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 last year i parked in the players car park. It'll be empty so park where you want I'm parking in front of our goal.
stevegrant Posted 27 May, 2010 Author Posted 27 May, 2010 Steve, can we park at the ground? I assume so. Yep, both car parks will be pretty much empty, so take your pick.
REDARMY79 Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Starting to get nervous now, better have another drink
saintrich Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 How many people are going down to watch and is the concourse open for food/beer?
stevegrant Posted 27 May, 2010 Author Posted 27 May, 2010 Concourse will be open for food and drink, not 100% sure how much beer they'll have in though.
JustMike Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 so, we definitely get the full kit? Im going to bring my own shorts jsut incase the only supply us with XXL :-)
saintrich Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Concourse will be open for food and drink, not 100% sure how much beer they'll have in though. Cool I'll be down to watch redandwhite91 score a spectacular (own)goal.
GenevaSaint Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Concourse will be open for food and drink, not 100% sure how much beer they'll have in though. They'd best have some for our half time refreshments..... :-)
RedAndWhite91 Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Cool I'll be down to watch redandwhite91 score a spectacular (own)goal. Always nice to see your mates having faith in your ability.
Al de Man Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 will have to check if we can have the floodlights on! That will definitely help me.
hamster Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Im going to bring my own shorts jsut incase the only supply us with XXL :-) You could always swap them with Tourrettes man
OldNick Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Good Luck everyone, hope you have a fantastic time like I did last year. Just a shame that a knee operation has put paid to my chances of playing for Big Phil again. Sorry you are not there again, even though you played for the 'cheesy one' I mean the 'Chosen one'
hamster Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Good luck one and all. Just remember to take a minute to look around you during the warm-up and try to take it all in. It is an awesome feeling seeing your shirt hung on those very same pegs that have held the shirts of so many fotballing greats. May the best team win....and we all know who the best team is don't we. See you there nick and phil and if you are strugggling for ideas please don't be shy in asking my advice, it's free. hamster

OldNick Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Things have been a tad quiet, im wondering what tricks Phil and his team have been up to, Im waiting for a player to be parachuted in at the last minute. Just you watch, it will happen I can feel it in my water. The weather is warming up a bit, so i dont think Im going to wear my Avram Grant long coat (although i'll have his long grim face) I wonder if the Mancini scarf around the neck will look good though, it is tough trying to make a fashion statement, that's the stress of management.
doubleonothing Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Is there a stream for tonights game? Or will someone who is attending be updating us with goal flashes in the match thread?
RonManager Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Somebody ought to start a match build-up thread. I would but I'm too busy solving international crime. Anyway 3-1 to NickH
warsash saint Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Is there a stream for tonights game? Or will someone who is attending be updating us with goal flashes in the match thread? I'm watching it around Justin's
bugenhagen Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Good luck all! Enjoy the night! Had a great time last year. A real shame I am unable to come over from Norway this time around (but going to South Africa in a couple of weeks will help ease the pain ). Away team!!! (just remember that the game is 90 mins, not 85 like last year)
Redondo Saint Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Don't forget to send us pics of this much awaited contest!!!!

bpsaint Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Fantastic game, nice to be on the winning side this year! Heartbreaking that I came off injured so early in the second half, don't think I'll be wearing blades again! Spades or influenced for man of the match I think.

Agree with that Spades and Influced both put in brilliant performance as did the whole team a fantastic effort from everyone involved on both sides but those two really stood out IMO. Cracking performance up front from Russell (don't know the forum name) as well didn't stop running and scored a peach. Great day, so glad I played again. Thanks to Steve for making it happen again, hopefully we can do another game next summer.
