stevegrant Posted 14 February, 2010 Author Posted 14 February, 2010 StuRomseySaint shall play 45 minutes. Why are they only giving you a 10% discount on a kit which will be discontinued and effectively is useless! Indeed. It was on the basis that they would guarantee we'd get the right sizes etc now, but in reality there will be plenty left in a couple of months when they start the Easter -> end-of-season sale.

Enough of the orgainsing stuff Granty - how's the training plan looking? switched to an all Yoghurt diet yet? Working on improving that electric pace? Made sure we have the same ref? And MORE important - any chance of opening one of the suites as the bar instead of the concourse one?
saint_stevo Posted 14 February, 2010 Posted 14 February, 2010 Unfortunately I snapped my anterior cruciate ligament in October so wont be joining in again, may well come to watch though. Anyone just thinking about it, just do it, highly recommended, good banter, well organised and of course a chance to play on the hallowed turf. Had the op yet? Had mine done in August last year, still screwed though
Smirking_Saint Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Had the op yet? Had mine done in August last year, still screwed though Did u get yours checked over after your comedy linesman routine ?? Have Hospital tommorow then i should require an arthroscopy, the NHS sure like taking their sweet time
stevegrant Posted 15 February, 2010 Author Posted 15 February, 2010 Right, latest update: Everyone who is a Full Member who has emailed so far is in. I'll list each of the people who have registered, but I'm not going to put any provisional lineups up just yet as they could (and probably will) change quite a lot until we've got both squads filled. In alphabetical order: Andy Porter, Arizona, B Rabbit, bigdavewatson, bpsaint, Delmary, forever a red and white, Foxy, GenevaSaint, Griffo, INFLUENCED.COM, JustMike, Minty, Neilza, Noodles, ooohTerryHurlock, prideofthesouth, RedAndWhite91, REDARMY79, SaintDonkey, saintsforlife7, sotonjoe, Spades, St Hando, stevegrant, The Flying Finn, Um Bongo Phil and Nick will again be managing the two teams. I am mostly looking for defenders now - centre backs, particularly
Foxy Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Looking forward to it already. But as Phil posted a while back let's get some planning done in advance on the post-match bit.
B Rabbit Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 I am mostly looking for defenders now - centre backs' date=' particularly[/quote'] Oh oh oh, The9 can play centre back quite well....
Foxy Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Oh oh oh, The9 can play centre back quite well.... Certainly could before he became a founding member of the All South Wales Long John Silver Impersonators a while back. Not so sure now.
dubai_phil Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Looking forward to it already. But as Phil posted a while back let's get some planning done in advance on the post-match bit. Too right. You realise I ended up carting a Duty Free Bottle of Jaegermeister all the way back to Dubai after that "no booze rule"
SaintNick89 Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Is anyone alowed to come along and watch? The Ed Hand (St Hando) Supporters Group will be wanting to make best use of the bar facilities.

I am mostly looking for defenders now - centre backs, particularly Fantastic news and seeing that the Flying Finn is able to play again is great. He had a real serious injury before the last game and I was a bit concerned he might call it a day.Well done, i echo Andys sentiments that we should if possible keep to the main teams from last time and that the away team should be the home team this time. What about DrogBaj???? where is he?
Spades Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Im really looking forward to this... As a 'new signing' thisyear i hope i can bed well into the team im placed in (if the teams are kept similar). For those of ou that dont know me i think im a relatively handy impact player... in the mould of ali dia.
Smirking_Saint Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 fat crippled moaning CB's? Yeah nothing would get past us too without a good nagging

You will get a good pre match team talk, much like mine last season when it went something like' Im not talking to you lot as you wouldnt give me a bit of your Mars bar'

forever a red and white Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 excellent Steve, don;t forget CM ;-) and yes keeping same teams would be great. can;t bloody wait now, need to start some fitness me thinks
OldNick Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 I din't realise you had George Michael in your team last year allegedly We are above those types of jibes. My team have the utmost morals, and would only be interested in ramming in 4 fingers....of kit Kat in one go. I have spoken to a friend at the club already and he has said i can have a room to myself so i can write out the team sheet and find a way to counter you next underhanded trick. I assume you will be courting the ref again, one swallow makes a summer and it seems that is all it needed on the night to make him sway his decisions your way
Scudamore Posted 15 February, 2010 Posted 15 February, 2010 Ah f::ck it...i'm in! Worried that i may ruin the occasion of last years...but tempering that with the fact that it really was too much fun to miss out on this time! Things to tick off the list include actually appearing in the team photo this year and being able to last my alotted time without cramping up after five minutes...

REDARMY79 Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 Yes, I'm in! Better reserve the XL GK jersey.....think Big Neville Southall in his latter years
OldNick Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 I won't be helping you this time either, you can suffer with cramp. Can we make sure we have a lino who understands the offside rule as well please? Yes Um bongo next time just kick him as you run back to defend. we were far too soft on them.

You will do the programme again I hope. It was quality last year.
dubai_phil Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 You will do the programme again I hope. It was quality last year. Funny how a year can change things.... This year would probably be "I have never met, nor do I have any association business or social with Tiger Woods. The manager wishes to point out that he in no way condones, supports or otherwise believes that said Woods's actions are held in high distaste by said manager of Home Team. There are absolutely no truth in the rumours whatsoever that the said Home Team manager in anyway taught, incentivized, explained or in other ways indidicated to said Mr Woods how much more satisfaction he could receive in his private life by hanging around in the correct ****tail bars.".....

Colinjb Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 I would like to declare my interest in a 45 minute slot! Oooo err.
dubai_phil Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 You're not another one who's sh@gged him, are you Phil? No, not him...... But there is a funny story about moi & his better half which can keep until the after party in May shame I didn't keep hold of the mob number now she's gonna be stinking rich and available again :smt033
Foxy Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 I would like to declare my interest in a 45 minute slot! Oooo err. Well, as you like a bit of innuendo I'm sure Granty will give you one

I thought Id edit it a little as of course it is our turn to be the HOME team.

Saints Mad Si Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 Had the op yet? Had mine done in August last year, still screwed though On the waiting list still! Had the pre assesment a couple of weeks ago but they warned that the snow we had in January has put waiting lists up again because of cancellations, emergency ops etc. They have actually decided not to repair the ligament as they said I should retire and it didnt need repairing unless I was going to play serious sport again so they are just cleaning it up. Did they repair yours?

I tend to get the impression the NHS tries it's hardest not to pay for any sport related injury.
saintsforlife7 Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 Can I score the winner late on again
SaintDonkey Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 4 months to get fit enough to run around for 45 minutes (and maybe occasionally kick a ball). It's going to be a tough challenge but what needs must!
OldNick Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 4 months to get fit enough to run around for 45 minutes (and maybe occasionally kick a ball). It's going to be a tough challenge but what needs must! 4 months....you aint Pompeys accountant by any chance.
stevegrant Posted 17 February, 2010 Author Posted 17 February, 2010 Just two 45-minute defensive slots available now. As the 90-minute slots have been over-subscribed, there are likely to be 5 people who requested 90-minute slots who I can only fit into a 45-minute slot.
Scudamore Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 You will do the programme again I hope. It was quality last year. Yeah i guess so...was unnecessary stress last year what with people not getting me information til the last minute and printers being a pain in the ass and then having to get into the stands and sell the fudging things. Still i'll just use the template from last years and let them sell themselves this year i think! Allowing me to get my game face on...a cross between Woodgate and Almunia apparently...

Did they repair yours? Yeah they repaired mine mate, no questions. Managed to get on the private ladder via NHS, New Hall in Salisbury, quality. The surgeon who did mine is a consultant with the German national football team! I am still on the road to recovery though, falling over and not doing enough exercises has not helped
stevegrant Posted 17 February, 2010 Author Posted 17 February, 2010 So everybody who has applied so far is in, in some form or another? Yep

The surgeon who did mine is a consultant with the German national football team! I am still on the road to recovery though, falling over and not doing enough exercises has not helped Since the operation do you find yourself sprouting a moustache, ****gy mullet and having an unaccountable tendency to fall over whenever an opposition player breathes on you*? *perhaps not so unaccountable if the oppo comes from East Hampshire, perhaps
Griffo Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 Yep Would it be possible to change my registration to not being willing to play 45, only 90 because my money situation has now sufficiently improved.
Smirking_Saint Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 Hospital visit done, looks like i am out of any even slightly competetive football for another year. Looks as though they need to re-do my ACL operation from 4 years ago. Which involves taking the metal work out, doing a bone graft, letting that heal and then doing the operation all over again. Yay me.
Saints Mad Si Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 How old are you ?? They tried talking me into the retirement option at 18, i told them to F*ck off basically. Seems to me your right, they said that cleaning it up I would be in and out in a day, where as if I had the acl repaired would be two nights in etc costing more money! Seems to me they dont like operating unless its absolutely necessary.

I hope you can turn up and be a spectator, or even our kit man I think they made a cracking decision!! How about assistant manager Nick, someone to bounce your ideas off in the technical area?? Wealth of knowledge and I know first hand of the under hand tactics of the home side last year so will be well placed to keep an eye on DP and any paper bags being handed around before the game!

Wealth of knowledge and I know first hand of the under hand tactics of the home side last year so will be well placed to keep an eye on DP and any paper bags being handed around before the game! Following recent revelations regarding the finance of football teams, it will be a requirement for the nickh team to produce a formal budget of their expenses for the evening showing a complete breakdown of how they intend to pay the wages of kitmen, assistant managers and assorted hangers on. Said budget should be lodged with Mr Ivor Blindi c/o the FAPL
