B Rabbit Posted 20 April, 2010 Posted 20 April, 2010 (edited) My mistake..he is home team 45...blimey..that might just even it up slightly... Game on... Edited 20 April, 2010 by B Rabbit
OldNick Posted 21 April, 2010 Posted 21 April, 2010 Granty will play even teams, it will be no fun for anyone if it is 10 -0 .....although it might stop Phil talking about his golfing and football managerial skills Lol if we won by that amount. I spoke to Fordy last night and the old boy is struggling with a back injury. Looking at him I thought perhpas I should get my boots out after all.He said he might be ready to step in if a place comes available if it does not flare up after a marathon. We are now building up to the event and all of you virgins to this had better get ready for one hell of a good experience. Granty is a star for getting this done again, come on the home team ' lets be avvin yer.'
OldNick Posted 21 April, 2010 Posted 21 April, 2010 Im the new Paul Wotton so beware! Did i mishear the new Dot Cotton? Welcome Maddog
maddog Posted 21 April, 2010 Posted 21 April, 2010 I did say to Granty i will be up for 90 mins if a slot came free. Home team all the way!
The9 Posted 21 April, 2010 Posted 21 April, 2010 Just about to buy some new boots for the occasion. Would the pitch be classed as Soft or Firm Ground? Normally at this point in the season i would be on Firm Ground boots but that is playing on the local dust bowls (sorry parks)? Either will be fine, surface is great, bit of give and comfortably takes a stud or blades. New boots in a match is not a good idea as a general concept of course, get an apprentice to break them in for you.
maddog Posted 21 April, 2010 Posted 21 April, 2010 Cheers, no i will probably break them in before the game, made that mistake a long time ago. Got a few questions as a newbie 1. Do we get to keep the shirts? 2. What kit do i need to bring? 3. What time do people start getting there?
Um Bongo Posted 21 April, 2010 Posted 21 April, 2010 Cheers, no i will probably break them in before the game, made that mistake a long time ago. Got a few questions as a newbie 1. Do we get to keep the shirts? 2. What kit do i need to bring? 3. What time do people start getting there? Last time: 1. Yes you keep the kit lol. 2. Shinpads, boots, shower stuff (nickh insisted on that last time, i don't know why) 3. Think it says in an email, about 5.30? I'm playing in my first match of the year tonight, so hopefully I survive. Haven't played since september!
OldNick Posted 21 April, 2010 Posted 21 April, 2010 Last time: shower stuff (nickh insisted on that last time, i don't know why) Well i was trying to be diplomatic as you stunk to high heaven....sorry I didnt want to tell you but you asked. I think the away team has got to get there to be in the changing rooms by 5pm .The reason being Phil has got 15 albums of photographs of him in different photograpic poses on the golf course to talk you through. The home team have to be there at 5.30 but i will give my team a few minutes grace to finish up there double cheese burgers and large pizza's swilled down with 5 pints of lager of course
dubai_phil Posted 21 April, 2010 Posted 21 April, 2010 I did say to Granty i will be up for 90 mins if a slot came free. Home team all the way! Welcome aboard So, you can keep it up for 90 minutes. You'll fit in well with The Home Team and their showers. Nick. Did I tell you the story of the day I played cricket on a proper Test Match venue? Took 2 for 6 - Turning the ball square I was. Or how about when I opened the batting in a 20 over game and scored 42 of 16 overs against Shoaib Akhdar? Still good idea, I'll bring some of those pics along as well just for you for the after party

OldNick Posted 21 April, 2010 Posted 21 April, 2010 Good news that the flights are moving again. Phil is there an excess charge on baggage? if so perhaps leave the pics behind
dubai_phil Posted 21 April, 2010 Posted 21 April, 2010 Good news that the flights are moving again. Phil is there an excess charge on baggage? if so perhaps leave the pics behind Oh no problemo, As we won a year's worth of free Business Class flights I can bring all 40Kgs of photos with me. Did I ever tell you my Nigel Mansell story?
OldNick Posted 21 April, 2010 Posted 21 April, 2010 Oh no problemo, As we won a year's worth of free Business Class flights I can bring all 40Kgs of photos with me. Did I ever tell you my Nigel Mansell story? Im sure you will, I'm still having therapy about your liason with that singer.
INFLUENCED.COM Posted 22 April, 2010 Posted 22 April, 2010 I'm still having therapy about your liason with that singer. Did he get 'stitched up' by the Singer ?
OldNick Posted 22 April, 2010 Posted 22 April, 2010 Did he get 'stitched up' by the Singer ? Wrong thread, but he'll cotton on to it

OldNick Posted 22 April, 2010 Posted 22 April, 2010 Knowing Fordy i would have thought his bad back wouldn't make a difference on his performance well the cracking of his joints as he warmed up last time sounded like somebody was thrrowing firecrackers, a year on and the back creaking will be drowned out by thise other joints. Ladysaint had to hold him up after his decent from the upper tier of the Northam.
JustMike Posted 23 April, 2010 Posted 23 April, 2010 All members of the away team are losers...... winners last time round ;-)
OldNick Posted 23 April, 2010 Posted 23 April, 2010 (edited) winners last time round ;-) you lot should be wearing Pompey shirts, they cheat their way to winning. May I add you also have 2 of my squad from last season, Im not happy about that. I didn't even get a bung Edited 23 April, 2010 by OldNick
B Rabbit Posted 23 April, 2010 Posted 23 April, 2010 winners last time round ;-) I meant in social circles and life in general, not necessarily in football terms

OldNick Posted 26 April, 2010 Posted 26 April, 2010 How rude !!!! How did the marathon go and how did your back hold up?
Scudamore Posted 26 April, 2010 Posted 26 April, 2010 How did the marathon go and how did your back hold up? I saw him by Temple tube station strangely enough. I was just shouting out words of encouragement...generally to the more attractive women. Then over the horizon he came striding. It was like poetry in motion. Rather him than me. Annoyingly i didn't actually see any of the people i went to see because i was in the pub.

Scudamore Posted 26 April, 2010 Posted 26 April, 2010 Did you hear him before he came into view? Well there was some bloke just randomly shouting out peoples names off their shirts and clapping like a loon. So being a bit p:ssed up we started doing it as well. Then i spotted one that i thought said Forby and was thinking that's a new one on me...then i thought "i know him..." then it all clicked into place. "Come on Fordy! Come on Scooby Doo! etc." He looked like most people...in a fair amount of pain...

dubai_phil Posted 26 April, 2010 Posted 26 April, 2010 What a rip off. Eight Hundred and Five effing Dirhams. That's about 130 quid. Just for a game of football. These airfares are just totally out of control these days, how on earth can BA charge 130 quid for a return flight in Business Class with a Flat Bed and Champagne all the way. AND the buggers get me to the UK in time to see the Courgettes gig in Salisbury on 22nd, damn I'd been trying SO hard to find an excuse not to go. Oh well, time to find some business meetings to attend that week so I have an excuse to pack my suit, gonna be a tough trip all that time in the Executive Lounge. Still us Global Sporting Legends do get looked after I suppose, and of course it is an Honour for BA to have me flly with them. Volcano permitting

For you sand eaters the Balsalmic champagne must taste good wheras we just sprinkle it on our salads.

Yes Nick, all well and good, but you see that THIS is the World that WINNERS inhabit. This is where that extra eye for the opportunity, that extra competitive edge, those extra miles pounding the streets or in the gym, THIS is where winners get to live. This is why the Away team are killing themselves in their winter training camps around the world, fighting down those extra jugs of Sangria and Chianti, stretching that extra muscle late in the evenings to be at their peak performance. Still, look on the bright side, I may be able to filch your guys a few of the freebie Mars Bars from the Lounge for the showers.
OldNick Posted 26 April, 2010 Posted 26 April, 2010 (edited) This is where that extra eye for the opportunity, I know you were brought up in the Deliverence swamps of Coombe Bissett , the third eye is common there but us normals born and bred in the Mecca of Southampton only have the usual 2. Edited 26 April, 2010 by OldNick

B Rabbit Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 The away team will perish.... and suffer.....and lose.....and bum each other in the showers probably
fos1 Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 How did the marathon go and how did your back hold up? Fit and ready if required mate !!!! Marathon completed and £2,000 so far raised for the charity "The Foundation study of infant death" FSID for short !!
dubai_phil Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 Fit and ready if required mate !!!! Marathon completed and £2,000 so far raised for the charity "The Foundation study of infant death" FSID for short !! Well done - you see what the Winning Can Do mentality does for you! Mind you the standing up after lots of beer training still needs some effort Judging from Ladysaints Facebook thread:smt043
OldNick Posted 28 April, 2010 Posted 28 April, 2010 Fit and ready if required mate !!!! Marathon completed and £2,000 so far raised for the charity "The Foundation study of infant death" FSID for short !! Well done Fos, fantastic charity as well. I know both managers would be more than happy to have you in their squad. The players already signed up will be fine by me but it is good to know that we have someone waiting to play if someone else drops out.
superstevesaints Posted 28 April, 2010 Posted 28 April, 2010 Is there a spare 45min position available for the HOME team??
superstevesaints Posted 28 April, 2010 Posted 28 April, 2010 Nevermind just realised theres only 4 (45)'s. Ah well!
JustMike Posted 28 April, 2010 Posted 28 April, 2010 back on the training after a period of "couldnt be arsedness" 1.7 miles yesterday. No beer for a month from now on.

dubai_phil Posted 29 April, 2010 Posted 29 April, 2010 Good to see one of my understudies doing well last night. Did you hear the story about why he had to be called The Special One? It was all down to how the then Manager of Coombe Bissett FC had already copywritten "The Only One" label. Anyway, hope the training is going well gang. Should be stepping up the work rate by now. Again, a reminder for the Newbies this season, the pitch at SMS looks like a Billiard Table but for you guys pounding the streets it will actually feel like running on a sponge. Really gets to the Calf Muscles, so I would recommend that you add a good 30 minutes a day in the build up practising by bouncing up and down on a good soft bed. (It will help you on on the day if you do it standing up but we understand local health and safety rules and the availability of willing assistants to help keep you upright). Meanwhile my preparations are going from strength to strength so that I am fully prepared. In fact just this morning I felt that I was getting close to being a real Premier League level Manager. Chaslu had a grand opening of their new Wellbeing and Spa Centre, and of course, being "The Only One" I was on the Celebrity invite list and was able to take full advantage of a complimentary Thai Body Massage. I really must recommend it to the Away team Forwards as it certainly will help you Up Front. Anyway, to retain the moral high ground over "The Moaning One" I did of course decline the Happy Ending, as I know full well that it would of course be wrong to peak too soon in the Big Build Up. So keep the miles up, keep the peckers up and plenty of bouncing up and down to get those Calf Muscles rock hard for the big day
