OldNick Posted 1 April, 2010 Posted 1 April, 2010 Sometimes there are things in life more important than money such as stardom and loyalty, but let him pay you double the going rate, we'll make sure we drink it down the pub afters We dont use relatives or payments to win games, it is blood sweat and tears. If Fos wanted to play for us then that is fine but Granty has come up with a new scheme. To be fair whoever plays will have a great night and if they have the honour of taking the field with my team of stars their night will only be superb. Got rid of your cold yet, I had hoped you were still waiting for a taxi
OldNick Posted 1 April, 2010 Posted 1 April, 2010 Better get down the gym then...Only now thinking about it!! lol. never mind the spectators will have a laugh and they are very demanding on the night. Missiles were being thrown at Phil due to his blatant cheating

saint_stevo Posted 2 April, 2010 Posted 2 April, 2010 OK, I've had a look at the home team's lineup and taken into account various messages I've received from other players on that team and there are now three options to fill the last slot: Option 1 The original option of someone coming in to left midfield for the 90 minutes Option 2 I can switch B Rabbit to left midfield, which then leaves a striker position for 90 minutes available Option 3 bpsaint switches to 90 minutes at centre-back, B Rabbit moves to left midfield, magnet's 45 minutes is now as a striker, leaving a striker position for 45 minutes. Any takers from forum members only? At this stage, I'm not going to throw it open to friends who aren't registered on here. I have a physio appt next week to talk thru my chances of 45mins at the end of may..........
dubai_phil Posted 5 April, 2010 Posted 5 April, 2010 How goes the training gang? Any members of the Away Team who are NOT registered with any Local League Teams? Been doing some work on the after party and with the recession thought that we could do with raising some funds for the kitty. I've been approached by an agent looking for unregistered players to make up the numbers in some meaningless end of season kick-abouts, apparently you'll just be getting the pre-match warm-up and filling the 4 unused spaces in the bench. In return they have apparently rustled up a half dozen cases of Kronenburg. They will arrange free transport and you get your meals paid for. No idea who the team is but Pin Zhavi sounded like a nice bloke on the phone
OldNick Posted 5 April, 2010 Posted 5 April, 2010 It's alright gaffer I'll be fit as a butcher's dog come the end of May. Trouble is i've been told it is Pat Butchers dog
RedAndWhite91 Posted 5 April, 2010 Posted 5 April, 2010 Trouble is i've been told it is Pat Butchers dog Now now, Pat Butcher doesn't have a dog.. I bought some running/gym trainers the other day, gonna start running and hit the gym after the hospital have confirmed my foot isn't fractured (long story). I'll be all good for the match. No dramas.

OldNick Posted 5 April, 2010 Posted 5 April, 2010 I have been training with Ali Dia.You will make the same impression as he did
Um Bongo Posted 9 April, 2010 Posted 9 April, 2010 You will make the same impression as he did If I come close to hitting the crossbar i'll be happy!!!!
OldNick Posted 10 April, 2010 Posted 10 April, 2010 If I come close to hitting the crossbar i'll be happy!!!! After last years game i suspect you will be happy if you cross the halfway line
dubai_phil Posted 10 April, 2010 Posted 10 April, 2010 In continued and increasingly desperate efforts to raise funds for the After Party, moves are afoot to see if it would be possible to have more spectator involvement in the Big Day. So, the good news is that we are able to announce the "Uberfan Cross Bar challenge" for half-time. Fans will be selected at random from the sell out crowd and will be given a quiz by our half time entertainer Saint Stevo before having a pop at goal. The Winner will win a no expenses paid 10 day vacation to Kish Island courtesy of our sponsors Kish Airways (Motto - we sometimes get you home as well) Kish is the Tourist Hotspot of Iran offering lots to do in lots of places in the dormitory at the airport. Of course, during the game, players who manage to shoot OVER the cross bar from inside the box will also win big. They will win a 3 month camping vacation in Kish Island during July, August & September (tent supplied). As part of the deal, players will need to bring their passports to the match and their limo transport will take them directly to their aclimatisation base in Khandahar. Unless you have a better idea?
dubai_phil Posted 11 April, 2010 Posted 11 April, 2010 Now here's a scary thought after the results yesterday.... We play on 27th L1 Playoff final is on 29th..... Hmmmmmmmm Looks like that screws the chance of the Kish Island trip idea then nobody will want to be over there during that weekend IF Oh well back to the drawing board
INFLUENCED.COM Posted 12 April, 2010 Posted 12 April, 2010 Due to bans and no shows had to play for the team I manage on Saturday, 90mins on the hottest day of the year against the top of the table side with sprightly 20 year olds, although we went down 2-0 was a decent performance, that said, will need from now to the game to recover !!

INFLUENCED.COM Posted 13 April, 2010 Posted 13 April, 2010 I will be a bit disapppointed if those sprightly 20 year olds were still sprightly after you had finished with them For a change, we had a quality referee who made allowance for me being slightly off the pace and therefore felt there was nothing to be gained by speaking with me after I had, um, mistimed ? a tackle or two.

Sounds like a poor referee who doesn't apply the laws of the game equally to me. 0 out of 10.

It seems my team are being nobbled by sinister deeds, unlike your team that are likely to be knobbed in the changing rooms

OldNick Posted 20 April, 2010 Posted 20 April, 2010 Any updates to a replacement for SotonJoe Steve. I think I am already 1 player short on the subs bench. It is a tiring noight for the players and so having a full compliment would be best for all involved

Thedelldays Posted 20 April, 2010 Posted 20 April, 2010 when is it..? would I get a kicking for my SWF personality..?
OldNick Posted 20 April, 2010 Posted 20 April, 2010 when is it..? would I get a kicking for my SWF personality..? no you would nt get a kicking DD, although from your manager you might lol Its a great experience and worth every penny IMO and would play instead of manage if I was 10 years younger

Fos was talking about turning out for us, did he not come forward? He would have been a good recruit to make the night interesting. Can you give an update of the sides then Steve please and their times on the pitch. As it is a fun night and all will enjoy themselves I hope that my depleted squad (as in numbers ) will be able to last.
OldNick Posted 20 April, 2010 Posted 20 April, 2010 lol TDD is only an internet persona really..to be honest, I dont even believe half the crap I write..and go to more games than people think.. well contact Granty and get a place. Last season i was a 'Lowe luvvie' Lol and n0o problems at all. In fact our much respected Fos1 came over gave me some friendly stick ,and the banter went on all night and still does. You would no doubt get some banter but who cares, if you give it you have to be prepared to take it. Granty has done well to get this on again this year and I suggest it is a lifetime memory and madness to miss out.

I spoke to Fordy on Saturday, but I'd already had an email on Friday from someone looking to replace "forever a red and white" for his 45 minutes. He's next in line if anyone else pulls out. Having sorted out the issue with replacing sotonjoe by allowing two players who had originally wanted to play 90 minutes to do so, I wasn't going to go back on that as I didn't think that was fair on those people. If they didn't believe they could last the 90 minutes, I'm sure they wouldn't have asked to play for that amount of time in the first place.
Thedelldays Posted 20 April, 2010 Posted 20 April, 2010 hmmm if the place is still available on payday..may well take it
dubai_phil Posted 20 April, 2010 Posted 20 April, 2010 They still won't let me book my flights. I blame Nickh for the Volcano, he was so sure he was gonna get whipped again that he went and started it just to keep me away

Lol. I can see it in the tea leaves. As for people wanting to play 90 inutes I agree they should be made aware how tiring it is on that pitch. I do hope they are youngsters not oldies as my bench is already depleted. Anyway it is a fun night and lets hope both teams compete fairly like last season and we get a close game
maddog Posted 20 April, 2010 Posted 20 April, 2010 Just about to buy some new boots for the occasion. Would the pitch be classed as Soft or Firm Ground? Normally at this point in the season i would be on Firm Ground boots but that is playing on the local dust bowls (sorry parks)?

Normally at this point in the season i would be on Firm Ground boots but that is playing on the local dust bowls (sorry parks)? it is difficult to recommend. The pitch should be watered . If you are playing for the home side steel toecaps would be most recommended as my tactics have been reformulated.
maddog Posted 20 April, 2010 Posted 20 April, 2010 ha ha i am playing for the home team, should i get some steel shin pads to?
OldNick Posted 20 April, 2010 Posted 20 April, 2010 ha ha i am playing for the home team, should i get some steel shin pads to? No my team are as hard as nails, you should see a couple of them. They sleep on a bed of nails, lying on their fronts not namby pamby on their backs. Phils team is full of brylcreme boys who fight over the mirror and spend all the night worrying if their boots match their socks.
