SaintsWeb Forum Match 2010 at St Mary's - 6.45pm kickoff TONIGHT - free entry!

Morning all

I've now got most of the details for this year's forum match at St Mary's, which will take place on Thursday 27th May, kick-off 18:45.

The details are very similar to last year. There will be two squads of 16, with six 90-minute slots on each team, the remainder being 45-minute slots.

The cost for a 90-minute slot will be £240

The cost for a 45-minute slot will be £120

The cost for a manager will be £50

The reason the cost has gone up slightly this year (£10 and £5 respectively) is because, as yet, we have not reached agreement with the club over the cost of the kits, which are included in the price. At the moment, they are only offering us a 10% bulk discount on current RRP - considering they will probably be reduced to a tenner in a month or two, that's not an offer that is acceptable to me. As a result, we have had to budget for a bit more than last year just in case, but any excess can either be refunded pro-rata once we do know how much it'll be, or it can be donated to charity instead.

Initially, this event is open to Full Members Only - Full Members have until Noon on Friday 19th February to register their interest. If there are still spaces available when this deadline passes, it will be opened to ordinary Registered Users.

Those who are successful in their applications will need to pay their money by Noon on Friday 5th March - this is a longer time period than I really want, but it does allow for those who get paid right at the start or end of the month to get the money together.

Full Members are invited to register their interest via email to playatsms@saintsweb.co.uk - applications should contain ALL of the following information:

  • Forum Username
  • Real Name
  • Contact E-Mail Address
  • Contact Phone Number
  • Age (don't worry, I won't tell anyone ;))
  • Three Preferred Positions, in order. Positions are GK, RB, LB, CB, RM, LM, CM, ST, or a general DF or MF is fine (and more flexible :))
  • Preference of 90 or 45 minutes
  • Willing to accept different duration if preferred slot is unavailable
  • Playing standard - this is so I can try to balance the teams as much as possible

Any questions?

UPDATE 19th Feb

As the deadline for Full Member registrations has passed, I am now throwing this open to all members of the forum. Please note that at the time of writing, there are only TWO slots left, both of which are 45-minute defensive positions.

UPDATE 25th Feb

All places are now filled, with provisional lineups below. Those without a squad number next to them show either that they have not responded to my payment details email or that they responded but did not choose a number. If the latter, not too much of an issue, if the former, I need to know that everyone has received the email and will make the payment on time.

UPDATE 29th Mar

A place has become available, left-midfield for the home team (90 minutes). Anyone wishing to take this place, please get in contact asap.

Probably going to go for it again. I will register my interest straight away but am unsure about being able to pay for it or not, but the registering is not a commitment to pay, right?

ooo good stuff, have registered :-)

will start training NOW so dont pull up with gammy calf again :-(

I am going to run rings around you again ;)

I won't be playing this season, might consider managing or just cone along and watch. Not risking ruining my "once in a lifetime" event double goalscoring half, and it would be nice for others to get a go too!

Right, that's done. Now all I need is to have a word with the Linesman and ref.

Nick already has their ear, not to try and influence unfairly, that is not 'our' style but simply to warn them of what to look out for from the bench !!

Hmm wonder what the rules on yellow cards are? Did Hants FA's fine get through last time? Wouldn't want them turning up on the night collecting emergency bail out funds for the other team in Hampshire

Would there be an eligibility issue?

:D

But fellas - just ONE really SERIOUS thing - can we PLEASE find somewhere better for a late beer than that hideous "80's bar/club thing?

Was looking through my old facebook pictures actually laughed out loud when I saw a picture of you in those shorts, I'm still not sure how you managed to run at all!

Should I or Shouldn't I play again? Big decision, Last year was awesome and am a tad worried that playing again may diminish last year somewhat, Will think it through over the weekend and decide whether to get my boots back out of the attic and go through it all again :)

OoohTH, what are you playing at man! join me in the concourse, sample the beer and retire gracefully.

I still have something to offer!!!.... a little less than last year granted, and I know that was n't much, but still a very little something! We have a score to settle!

Can't see that being an issue by then

Oi!

Enough of this retirement rubbish. You were heroic for 75 minutes last year so get your ass in gear and start jogging down the pub, you'll be fine for 45.

You are a long time retired my friend

Unfortunately I snapped my anterior cruciate ligament in October so wont be joining in again, may well come to watch though.

Anyone just thinking about it, just do it, highly recommended, good banter, well organised and of course a chance to play on the hallowed turf.

i have emailed to be manager again and hope to be chosen.Perhaps the9 and me could make a managerial team, although Iam disappointed that he is not playing.! of the few finishers on the night, as in goalscoring wheras Hamster finishes peoples footballing careers with his tackling.

I hope in the main the sides can be the same and revenge gained, I assume Phil will be choosing the ref and linesman again and the ability to make subs without the officials knowing. Influenced, the 9 ,Griffo , Andy (Mr Utility) Porter and Ooh Terry Foxy and all the rset of my stars have got to play together again , and DrogBaj should again be up front fighting through his many injuries.Revenge has to be allowed to prevail...........Do i hear Fordies old knees starting to loosen for the night as well?

Bit worried already, haven't heard much from BigDaveWatson since he came on, dropped in the hole and turned the game around.

Still with Distintegration87 having moved to Frankfurt and unable to read enough German to complete the forms to get on-line at the moment think we will lose our classy footballing CB but you will lose the chance to mug him for a dodgy ball to hand penalty.

Is it true that the rules have changed since last year and that all football team managers in Hampshire have to attend some specialist training camp in Horton Heath?

I had a team of stars who were royally mugged by the arab contingent..i now know what those Pompey fans feel like!!!

As for the Horton Heath idea, I dont think Mrs h would be as understanding as MrsGrant!!!

Maybe me and smirker could be on opposing sides to level it out....
