dubai_phil Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Who should we or the club invite? Terry Paine should ask DST in SA for the chance to be on the spot reporter, but I wondered if this should be the week that we got together in some way to help TT bring big Ron back over? What do we think? Is there a home game close to the Wembley date we could link it to? How can we help?
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Give the invitation to Ron.. Good idea
Secret Site Agent Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 I think we should invite the Echo. And when they turn up, deny them entry to Wembly
SFC Forever Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Big Ron and any members of 76 team still with us.
Under Weststand Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Definitely get Big Ron over for it, Good Idea DP.
hypochondriac Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Any chance of setting this in motion? Would be cool if we could get him down.
Saint_clark Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 I would happily chip in to get Ron over for it.
Arizona Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 MLT surely. Marian, although that's just a personal favourite. Rupert Lowe perhaps. Afterall, he was the one 100% responsible for getting us to our last cup final.
ulstersaint Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Got to be big Ron (Davies not Atkinson)!
Griffo Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 MLT surely. Marian, although that's just a personal favourite. Rupert Lowe perhaps. Afterall, he was the one 100% responsible for getting us to our last cup final. Seein Marian back would be absolutely amazing.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Give it to Ron. Coincidentally, if we did want to get Marian, I know someone who has his phone number and address.
Saint_Jonny Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 marian, MLT and WGS. Doddsy will be there with the coaching staff anyway. Claus should be there too. All Saints legends in my eyes, TBH BT would be there if he was retired too, best player to put on the shirt since ive been obsessed with saints (2003 on, since being old enough to care).
krissyboy31 Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Ron and if he is fit enough, Kevin Moore (link to our last Wembley visit).
vince Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 Ron and if he is fit enough, Kevin Moore (link to our last Wembley visit). If the club invited Ron, I'd contribute to a fund to get him over in the same way that the "give it to Ron" fund was run. TBH, there's no real reason to me why him, above others, who have contirbuted towards the club in the last 125 years (to qualify that statement, I never saw him play, I was a bit later) but his story as told on here has struck a chord with me, as an honest player who gave his all for the club and has genuine affection still with the club and people of the city - something that the modern day players don't quite seem to have, probably due to the money available to them for transfers. So I'll pledge £20 into "the pot for Ron" - lets get the ball rolling.
Micky Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 Perhaps Tim needs to sound Ron out on this one - then we could put some serious cogs in motion so to speak.
dubai_phil Posted 12 February, 2010 Author Posted 12 February, 2010 Did Tim get sorted with a ticket and travel back? If so maybe he can give Solent a call and schmooze while he's at SMS?
Nutwood2 Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 I would have thought Mr Liebherr would be interested in supporting a trip over for Ron. He must surely be interested in the club's tradition and history and as Ron is the greatest goalscorer we've ever had perhaps he can find a way to fund it.
dubai_phil Posted 12 February, 2010 Author Posted 12 February, 2010 Just looked on-line, there are flight connections with only one stop to Heathrow from New Mexico way which cost around US$1000 in economy class That would be a lot of 20 quids guys and is Ron up to sitting 16 hours in economy? But it IS do-able
trousers Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 The nolans. I've just laughed out loud on a crowded train!
