.comsaint Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 I will be in the Chapel for the very first time ever (I'm normally in Itchen Block 3). If anyone starts on me - I will smother them with my tartan blanket - wack them over the head with my Thermos flask - and ram my bottle of Centrum multi-vitamin pills down their throat.
benjii Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Here you go at OB putting them in a giant sardine can. Nice one OB. Also, lol at this eating into the net profit on the tickets.

I'm in the Itchen so I won't come near you then .comsaint Mate !
so22saint Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 What a massive over-reaction. FFS, what is the world coming to
dannysfc Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 What a massive over-reaction. FFS, what is the world coming to Yeh I would say that Tbh but then again I don't think anyone wants to get beaten up by a Skate do they unless your looking for trouble then you will more than likely get it Tbh but it should be Mental and Amazing too !
Saint_clark Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 What a massive over-reaction. FFS, what is the world coming to Makes sense to me, more coppers can actually keep an eye out for trouble rather than having to stand around forming a human wall. If these things exist, why not use them rather than keeping them in storage for a "nuclear disaster"?
saintkiptanui Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 It will be mental and amazing and brilliant and ace Danny
SimonRichards Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 I wonder if the barrier runs up to central station.
Pilchards Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 I wonder if the barrier runs up to central station. The stewards was told about it Tuesday in the meeting, it's used to get them directly to the main road which will be closed both ways so they can get on the coaches. Once clear they will release the woolston station lot over the bridge before the own car fans can walk off anywhere they need to go. The joke at the meeting was If they erected it around Portsmouth then crime across britain would decrease! :-)
so22saint Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 I wonder if the barrier runs up to central station. Exactly. Thing is mingling outside the ground, though there'll be flashpoints, means that most of the idiots will go where they've prearranged and the odd (maybe 30/40) arrest aside, it'll be more like a normal game. With that cordon in place there'll be a massive "them and us" with both sets of fans baying for blood outside and then the potential for random punter violence all over the place. I don't remember needing this for any of the previous recent cup or league games, or for Alco Knights testimonial. It's nanny state bull**** again Though I do like the fact that the money to police it should impact the money due to the blue few
Saint_clark Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 The stewards was told about it Tuesday in the meeting, it's used to get them directly to the main road which will be closed both ways so they can get on the coaches. The joke at the meeting was If they erected it around Portsmouth then crime across britain would decrease! :-) So 15 minutes after full time they will be allowed to the coaches, another 10 minutes or so they will be allowed over the bridge. King Alfred is the place to be post-match then...
Griffo Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 So 15 minutes after full time they will be allowed to the coaches, another 10 minutes or so they will be allowed over the bridge. King Alfred is the place to be post-match then... It most certainly is. That cordon looks easy enough to kick over anyway
Saint_clark Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 It most certainly is. That cordon looks easy enough to kick over anyway F*ck that, look to the left, just walk round
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 All the real action won't happen in and around the ground,it will happen away from prying eyes and CCTV. That'll narrow it down to a small bush in Argyll then...
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 I think I read/heard somebody say that the first 'column' of seats of the itchen north, ie seat number 1, is taken by police/stewards. Can anyone confirm this?
eelpie Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 If the club move away fans to the Kingsland/Chapel corner they will probably have to have these erected along the Kingsland stand up to the bridge.
oxfordshire_saint Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 For the Blackburn vs Burnley game they made all Burnley fans report to Turf Moor for travel to and from the game on a coach convoy, no exceptions, even this guy: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1216933/Spare-thought-Burnley-fan-living-Blackburn-journey-Ewood-Park-derby-clash-FOUR-hours.html I know that particular Lancashire derby is a fiery one, but I'd rate us vs Skates as more volatile, surprised the police haven't tried to insist on something like this. Although that said, chances of P*mpey being able to afford a Robin Reliant for the day, let alone a coach convoy?
Graffito Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Here you go That barrier looks like it's made of recycled caravans.
krissyboy31 Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 That barrier looks like it's made of recycled caravans. Just to make them feel at home!
westofshannonsaint Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Exactly. I hope they have to walk through the tents and are disinfected before entering the stadium. when ye had foot and mouth/bird flu or something like that you had to walk/drive over disinfectant mats when entering Ireland. something like that would be very funny. For the Blackburn vs Burnley game they made all Burnley fans report to Turf Moor for travel to and from the game on a coach convoy, no exceptions, even this guy: I remember a Millwall fan living in Leeds telling me that after Leeds V Millwall he was put on a non-stop train to London by the police in the 90's
SFC Forever Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 I suppose with skate becoming so rare we shouldn't be surprised they are on their way out.
Fishy_Friend Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 On POL he reckons the police are getting us all off at Woolston and walking us over the Itchin Bridge, then after the game they are getting us all out first and away from the ground. Not sure, who knows who cares. Im sure if people are hell bent on scrapping they will not get the train down anyhow!!!
docker-p Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 Here you go What a waste of money. This country has gone safety mad. So a few skates might get a slap, big deal. There's no need for that level of security.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 I think I read/heard somebody say that the first 'column' of seats of the itchen north' date=' ie seat number 1, is taken by police/stewards. Can anyone confirm this?[/quote'] I have a seat, Block 1, Seat 7. We got our tickets the day after they first went on sale. All the seats to the right of us, towards the fishy lot, were taken. Could be police/stewards.

Dog Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 Here you go I have just heard from a friends uncles mates brothers bosses wifes nextdoor neighbour, that the big galvanised fence has been set up not only for crowd control, but the skates will be that exstatic over seeing a load of potential scrap metal, that they will be dismantling it throughout the game and hours after, taking their minds of violence. Apparently the middle of the fence is full of coloured balls and slides, so the skates can have a bit of fun whilst waiting for their skip lorrys to arrive. P.S. Can someone confirm the fence is still there after posting a picture of it last night.
hamster Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 I suppose with skate becoming so rare we shouldn't be surprised they are on their way out. all makes sense now, THEY are a protected species.
brianoneils slidingtackle Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 Love it, after the game any stray P*mpey fans that have got tickets for the Itchen, Chapel etc will be easy to pick off........
Patrick Bateman Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 It looks like a portable gas chamber. I really shouldn't, but ...
brianoneils slidingtackle Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 I think it looks like a Fish Processing factory, someone needs to paint a Birds Eye logo on it..
Tractor_Saint Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 Blimey - that looks serious! Would assume that they won't let any Saints fans in Britannia Road if they are putting those barriers up. Then they can herd in the Poopey lot through the barriers? What does the other side look like from the view from the Citroen garage?
Tomobz Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 It looks like a portable gas chamber. hahahaha, anyone fancy connecting the pipes?
Wes Tender Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 I have a seat, Block 1, Seat 7. We got our tickets the day after they first went on sale. All the seats to the right of us, towards the fishy lot, were taken. Could be police/stewards. Not so. I have seats 5 & 6.

Then they can herd in the Poopey lot through the barriers? What does the other side look like from the view from the Citroen garage? Surely there has to be further barriers erected to block off Britannia Road at some point? As it stands, the Skates are all forced to go into Britannia Road and will meet with the Saints fans coming out from the Itchen stand.

As it stands, the Skates are all forced to go into Britannia Road and will meet with the Saints fans coming out from the Itchen stand. Last time the fish were in town the OB blocked off Britannia Road with a police line so home fans could not go that way, the same thing will happen tomorrow. Also I was told last night by a mate who is job that they have been informed that there a number swiming up without tickets looking for a row.

Fencing is a good idea from a police perspective, allows them to focus the available officers elsewhere. Mounted police also being drafted in from Thames Valley according to the Echo. Had also heard from a skate mate that some are coming up ticketless, meeting up and then going into town for a row. Can't see it being significant numbers though given the CCTV we've got in town, stick out like a sore thumb.
Tomobz Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 just been up there to collect tickets and the cordon is only seperating them from the northam. all a bit OTT tho if u ask me
JRM Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 just been up there to collect tickets and the cordon is only seperating them from the northam. all a bit OTT tho if u ask me so they will be free to mix in with saints fans on the corner with the ticket office / itchen corner? could be interesting

The Barrier now extends as far as Bursledon.

Griffo Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 so they will be free to mix in with saints fans on the corner with the ticket office / itchen corner? could be interesting That's stupid. Most lads will be in the Itchen Corner for this one anyway because 1- block 42 have mainly moved to the Itchen North and anyone looking for a bit of bother/banter during the game will be in the Itchen North so they can face the Skates.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 Ah niceone' date=' i ask because me and my mates are seats 2,3 and 4! What row you in?[/quote'] Ah that's cool then, I'm row DD. You? Not so. I have seats 5 & 6. Fair enough Wes, I got my tickets early, and looking on the computer in the TO at Block 1, half was taken, and it was the half towards the Pompey lot... Enjoy the game all.
Charlie Wayman Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 All the real action won't happen in and around the ground,it will happen away from prying eyes and CCTV. Is that fact, wishful thinking or incitement? Be careful about what you say even in jest this site will be monitored.
GenevaSaint Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 Is that fact, wishful thinking or incitement? Be careful about what you say even in jest this site will be monitored. That's common sense. No one in their right mind will kick off near the stadium, too much CCTV around. If they do they'll be getting door knocks at 5am in the morning same as 2005.
chrisobee Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 At St. Marys this afternoon and the police are erecting a large metal fence to divide fans.. Spoke with cops who wer doing it and they were quite friendly. The cordon consists of 2 rows of metal walls about 25 feet apart. In the gap the police can freely pass. In the walls there are 2 or 3 doors/gates fRom which the 'snatch squads' can operate. The walls stretch from gas compund fencing to the walls of St. Marys between gates H and J. I asked who they got it from. They said it was theirs and was for used chem. hazard, nuclear incidents and public order situations. Totally over the top if you ask me. When it comes to Pompey fans it is hard to imagine any safety measure being OTT to be honest.

Takes a huge leap of faith to imagine Pompey fans are in their right minds and as for common sense that is just much to imagine.
holepuncture Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 Here you go What a lovely yet hilarious gesture for the skates, they should feel right at home! Be warned OB, they will dismantle it and take as much tin away with them as they can, to finally get started on getting nottarf krap up to scratch for their world cup bid!
