paulwantsapint Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 I know that it will probably be KD as club captain Hammond as team captain Fonte as Hammonds understudy BUT I WANT MARKUS TO DO THE HONOURS IN A SAINTS SHIRT WITH HIS NAME & NUMBER ON THE BACK
scott_saints Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 ...It will be Hammond. No. It will be Kelvin.
Joensuu Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 Who is captain at Carlisle nowadays? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Thirlwell
Saint_clark Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 No. It will be Kelvin. Why? He is not the actual captain. I would like it to be him - he may even be given the armband on the day just so he can lift it - but if Hammond is wearing the armband he will lift it.
St Landrew Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 Hammond to lift it in the JPT, and Kelvin the lift the FA Cup. Nicola or Markus can lift the playoff trophy.
Dr Octopus Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 It should be the man of the match in my opinion.
itchen_dan Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 Both of them - one hand on each handle They both deserve to do it IMO
vico Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 Surely there should have been a presentation last night as we are the WINNERS of the JPT Southern section!!
CWD Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 I was wondering this too. Kelvin was saying in his programme notes that he would be "so proud to lift the trophy at wembley", but my guess would be that they would do it together, Hammond and Davis one hand each
VectisSaint Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 Both of them - one hand on each handle They both deserve to do it IMO The trophy does not have any handles http://www.johnstonespainttrophy.com/gallery/2008-2009/ It will be Hammond or whoever is the Captain on the day. I would be worried if it was KD, he might drop it, especially if it is passed down to him form above his head What I want to know is, where is the trophy for winning the Southern Area Final? It should have been presented last night.
jam Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 (edited) I was wondering this too. Kelvin was saying in his programme notes that he would be "so proud to lift the trophy at wembley", but my guess would be that they would do it together, Hammond and Davis one hand each What generally happens is that the captain lifts it. Then he passes it to the guy behind him and he lifts it and so on until the manager gets a go. Hammond will most probably be captain that day. Edited 10 February, 2010 by jam got a bit previous!
SNSUN Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 If we win, it HAS to be Kelvin. Our longest serving player and consistant performer, and CLUB captain. (and the safest pair of hands with that damn trophy...)
RedAndWhite91 Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Don't forget we went to Carlisle and were extremely lucky to come away with a point earlier in the League. If I remember correctly we equalised in the 95th minute after they bossed large parts of the game. Don't be fooled into thinking this will be a walkover!
CWD Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 What generally happens is that the captain lifts it. Then he passes it to the guy behind him and he lifts it and so on until the manager gets a go. Hammond will most probably be captain that day. lol thanks for pointing that out. I would never have known. Kelvin is still club captain, he still writes the captains notes in the programme. Hammond is team captain. I think they will lift it together ala Neville/Giggs.
Barry the Badger Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Well if the players assume we are going to win it as easily as you seem to have, it will probably be Carlisle lifting the trophy.
BLINK Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 will there be an open top bus around southampton after?
Saint Charlie Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Davis said when Hammond became captain that he (Davis) would lift any trophies and that Hammond was taking it up to be a captain on the pitch.
Saint_clark Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Well if the players assume we are going to win it as easily as you seem to have, it will probably be Carlisle lifting the trophy. No-one is assuming anything, we are talking hypothetically about who would lift the trophy.
Hatch Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Bring on Le Tiss in the very last second of the match. He can do it.
ponto1963 Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Urm, do we not have to win it first? My thoughts exactly. We thought we'd be playing Leeds not Carlisle, the best team doesn't always win.
paulwantsapint Posted 11 February, 2010 Author Posted 11 February, 2010 I still want Markus to do the honours in special shirt with his name on it
SFC Forever Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Let Bart play in goal and problem solved.
Saint_clark Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 I still want Markus to do the honours in special shirt with his name on it You want a pint as well, but you can't have everything.
Barry the Badger Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 No-one is assuming anything, we are talking hypothetically about who would lift the trophy. In which case the phrase "who would lift the trophy" would make more sense than "who will lift the trophy", which suggests that it is a foregone conclusion
