broncoboy Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 If you look at the sides as a neutral you would be surprised to see Saints win even ay home. But it is a Cup match and anything can happen. I have to go 1-3 Pompey One thing is they are unlikely to be a premier side by next season and be paying £100k for a goalkeeper each week.
saints_is_the_south Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 Heart says 2-1 Saints, head says 2-1 skates. First goal is crucial. We need to come out of the blocks like we did on Tuesday, attack from the off & put them on the back foot & hopefully do the same as Tues & nick a goal or 2. Head - HT Saints 1-1 Skates FT Saints 1-2 Skates Heart - HT Saints 1-0 Skates FT Saints 2-1 Skates C'mon you f*cking reds!!!!
SamKimish Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 My heart says a scrappy win, my head says a convincing loss by two goals... It's a difficult game to call because the outcome totally depends on player confidence. COYR!
saint-luco Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 1 sent off, 2 carried of injured, 10 quivering players left on the pitch at the end. saints win 7-0
John B Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 As the match gets closer I am feeling more confident when the draw was made I thought we would lose. With Pompey having transferred players as well as having injuries and suspensions I am not so sure now.
Bucks Saint Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 Predictions? Nerves shredded. Heart pounding. Hoarse like never before. Possibly crying. And that will be before kick off 2-1 Saints. Maybe
Wade Garrett Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 Hopefully the Pompey players will merely be going through the motions, not risking injury when their employer could be wound up in a weeks time. Maybe a few of their better players will get 'groin strains' and David James will have a 'back strain', after training today. I doubt it though.... think we'll lose by a couple of goals.
Charlie Wayman Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 Two likely outcomes.. A fix to generate more desperately needed income for Pompey from a replay so 1-1 or on form and position Saints 1 Pompey 4
D-GOD Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 0-1 Pompey at h/t. 3-1 Saints at f/t. C,O,Y,R
toofarnorth Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 I think its time for spiderman to get his first goal. Not sure we'll be able to do enough though so i'm hate to say it but a narrow skates win.
saints-cris Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 For the 638th time on this thread, I agree, heart says saints, head says P*mpey. But, its the FA Cup, were at home, they have injuries too and i think we'll be so much more up for it than them. 2-1 either way i think. For some of our players it will be without doubt the best atmosphere they will have played in.. One things for sure, Im sat at work placement fairly bored, but I cannot effing wait! Having this to look forward to is keeping me more than awake..!
Kingsland Red Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 As Pompey will field premiership players, albeit unfairly as they cannot affford them, I would expect that they will move the ball quicker and have pace in all areas. We have home advantage, confidence, the ability for anyone to score and the crowd driving Saints on, and that is why I think Saints can pull off a surprise.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 I think we might have trouble getting possession of the ball. They will move too quickly for us and the defence will panic. That will lead to hoofball and no service to the midfield leaving Lallana, Waigo, Antonio, Morgan and Hammond almost without a game. And Ricky will be man-marked out the game. All this will lead to them scoring a hatful against us...so final score 2-4 to the Skates. OR.... AP has done his homework and told the lads to close them down, don't let them settle on the ball. Play our usual attractive football because they will not be expecting us to play. Make sure they know we're on pitch - Thomas/Perry to nibble some ankles. We COULD just do this IF the players all turn up - fight for each other - and get an early goal if possible. THEN we might nick a 2-1 famous victory.
L1Minus10 Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 We're used to winning, they're not. We're at home, they're not. We can score goals, they can't often. We have a ****ing good chance. We'll play 4-5-1 and long ball, they'll try and play through midfield as they're stronger there. Any pace up front will cause us problem with probably Perry and Jaidi back there. My Skate mates have all said that if they play to their potential then they will win - if they don;t they're very worried. I'm going for 2-2 and a wind-up bye into the next round
saint lard Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 Well,if Leeds can beat Man Utd at Old Trafford we can beat Pompey at St Marys. However,i don't think we will. Very happy to be proven wrong though.
CHAZZA 92 Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 Schneiderlin to get his first goal for saints in a 2-1 victory
keithd Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 i dont think any result would surprise me. well ok 8-0 to us would, but thats unlikely all i know is after all this build up, this excitement, from seeing the draw to waiting for and receiving the tickets i just don't want to be depressed afterwards. i can cope with a narrow ballsy defeat, but capitulation and anhililation from a team i flippin hate will be too galling 2-2 draw. christ knows about the replay...
tttdcs Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 Heart says 2-1 Saints, head says 2-1 skates. First goal is crucial. Amesbury Saint Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 head and heart says Saints win. lets face it when we were a struggling Premiership team we always lost to lower division teams away from home!
Mr X Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 Doesn't really matter if we lose were not expected to win, let them have their 5 minutes of gloating its unlikely they will be a premiership club next season. No doubt they will trash southampton and cause trouble wether they win lose or draw! haaaaaa
RedAndWhite91 Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 10-0 to Saints. You heard it here first chaps.
Mr X Posted 12 February, 2010 Posted 12 February, 2010 10-0 to Saints. You heard it here first chaps. if this happens i will run through town naked eating my own poo
John Boy Saint Posted 13 February, 2010 Posted 13 February, 2010 I think that we might sneak this one, we have players who will understand the significance of this game to us fans, I also think Pardew will talk some sense to the players whipping them up and keeping their feet on the ground at the same time............................. Hey if we lose my beer won't have a salty tear tainted taste.
