Right dont this as gospel as I have just heard it but will check with a friend who is a police officer. Someone at work has said that the police are getting Pompey off the train at Woolsron and then walking them over the bridge to avoid walking them through town! To me this is utter madness. Looking at google earth, there is nothing in it milage wise as both are approx 1.25 miles. So will let you know
They have done this before with pompey, they marched them over the bridge in a block and straight into the ground, they took them in groups each time a train came in.

This wouldn't surprise me atall.

I'd imagine that from the perspective of a PFC knuckle dragger if you think this is going to be your last ever match then what better occasion to cause trouble could you have than this one.

I hope the police are on their toes this Saturday.

Unfortunately finances dictate that I won't be there this time.

Shame as whenever I've seen the pompey games (home and away) there's always been a bit of extra edge\energy which really adds to the occasion.

However local rivalry + a load of distressed PFC knuckle draggers out for one last jaunt in the 'enemy' camp could spell trouble.

I hope not.

Get down to St Marys, and get behind the lads.

Ticket or no ticket, we will fight them on the beaches...............................

It is a bit like making a war plan. We need to take the high ground, which shouldn't be hard since the train station is at the bottom of the hill. Maybe we could thousands of bouncy balls like that Sony advert?

I just think everyone needs to stop panicking and just enjoy the day FFS.

I dont think we should live in fear of hundreds of marauding skates rampaging around soton hellbent on raping and pillaging.

Sure, there will be a few mongs looking for trouble (on both sides) but if you just make your way to the ground and leave after, you shouldnt get into trouble...

Im not saying it will all be roses and, If you are looking for trouble, im sure you will be able to find it.

All im saying is DONT PANIC....

If you were that worried about it, you shouldnt have bought tickets for them....

I didn't, I was referring to Dimond Geezer. Personally not worried, but do think there'll be a reasonable amount of trouble to be had if you want some, as your last post alluded to.

Your Sh!tting it comment was pathetic. The latter one much more reasoned.

This is all a storm in a tea cup! Nothing huge is going to happen, maybe a few little scuffles and lots of goading behind a line of police, apart from that it will pass quietly. I'm sure there's hundreds of saints fans who will be out looking for trouble, not just the popmey lot getting the train. Just steer clear of town if your that bothered...

TBF, when u read through this thread it is almost like people are preparing for skates parachuting in and turning up in Uboats and the like.

If you really are that worried don't go.

I went to both the last home games and one away and to be honest never saw much trouble other than the odd Tw*t giving it some gob behind the safety of a police escort.

You will be fine, don't worry.

So couldnt we form some sort of barricade and keep them out of the match? ;-)

I have heard they are being walked back from Woolston after the game, but not before.

That's not correct!

Train people will march from woolston to the ground and on entering the carpark we have errected 6 foot barriers to lead them to the turnstiles.

Afterwards the 65 booked up coaches will be on a closed road for them to get back on the coaches and out the city while those train people are being held back 45 minutes to be marched to the station once it's all clear!

To be fair, the last time they came here the Old bill did a mega job of keeping things quiet and making sure they didnt have the chance to do anything (unlike at their place). I see no reason why things will be different this time. I mean who's smarter, Southampton Old Bill or some Neanderthal skates??

I'm not saying the location but have it on good authority that some of shall we say older gentlemen will be gathering at a location in town and then all heading off to the match many moons ago the same bunch were scaring off anyone who dared to come near them .....

Que Pasa.

They will in particular be going after the under 10's, women, the disabled and gingers.
