The parking area to the left of the solid line looks fine to me.

Take the junction into Newbury before the services, takes you towards the centre and there is a housing estate where I have left my car many times and was fine.

That's the one.................... on one of those driver awareness courses they said life expectancy on the hard shoulder was 8 minutes!!

 

I wonder how many people it took to work that one out?
