Paul Chuckle Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 Sounds like the 6.55 train is the popular one, going to interesting on the platform when the train pulls up. It will be policed / stewarded in sure. This train has to stop at Eastleigh and Winchester as well which will be equally busy. Imagine if u catch that train from Soton - Eastleigh for work every week. Think they might find it hard to get off this week lol
Vershinin Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 I don't understand. Please explain. Acton is a bit rough in parts but you'll be fine, you're from Southampton.
Block 5 Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 Acton is a bit rough in parts but you'll be fine, you're from Southampton. Cheers mate but I'm rougher than a ****ney bird's armpits.
RedWillie Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 The trains are going to be such a bun fight.... I would have your cars at the ready to do a quick dash up the motorway because no way is everyone gonna get on the trains that want to.....
Vershinin Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 Cheers mate but I'm rougher than a ****ney bird's armpits. Haha, love it.

scott_saints Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 need to be at wembley by 11am driving up , what time do you think i should be leaving Now. Panic.
The Worm Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 not great with London transport, but had a quick look on the underground site, just wondering if the following is possible. Soton Central - Waterloo Waterloo - Wembley park (via jubilee line) is it as simple as that?
Jillyanne Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 need to be at wembley by 11am driving up , what time do you think i should be leaving Where are you parking? I am going with someone who is also driving and we also need to be there for around 11am.

Being the fanny that I am, I'm actually starting to get somewhat concerned that I won't get on the 6.55 as planned. Does anyone really think that it's possible that there'll be more people wanting to get the 6.55 than can actually get on?! We should be up there for 6.25ish, then I plan to stand on the platform for half an hour until the train turns up, although knowing my luck I'll be stood between doors and get caught in the scrum.......!!
Toomer Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 Anyone who is still looking for a place to park try Parkers Car Parks 07863-319337, 5 mins walk from stadium, outside the road closure zone £23.00 for a car.

gary r Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 Where are you parking? I am going with someone who is also driving and we also need to be there for around 11am. disabled parking at the stadium

'Course, back in the old days, the shunter would just hook a couple or more coaches on the back and the shed would send an extra pilot loco down. There'd be special 'FootEx' excursions laid on. Saints took 15 trains to Aston Villa in 1963 for the FA Cup semi-final. Railways were more flexible then, people were more polite - you could leave your front door open and go away for a week and nothing would be stolen. Kids had respect for their elders and people knew their place - 'course there'd been a war and blah blah blah................. 1. 34046 on train no.7 passes Kidderminster en route to Snow Hill 27.4.63. 2. The locos being serviced at Tyseley shed before the return journeys. Edited 27 March, 2010 by RonManager

I share your concern. I just tried to book a cab at 6am to get me to the station. No chance! They all said they were seriously booked out. I've had to twist someones arm to give me a lift. Could be mayhem if they don't get it organised down there.
Saint_clark Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 Each train holds 5000 people, with the extra football special that's 10k before 7.30 I believe.
Miffy Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 Each train holds 5000 people, with the extra football special that's 10k before 7.30 I believe. Is there another train between 6.55 and 7.55? It doesn't show on the train timetable website.
Dalek2003 Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 I am driving down from Naaaaaaaaarwich, anyone travelling from this direction ?
Badger Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 I am driving down from Naaaaaaaaarwich, anyone travelling from this direction ? Are you picking Glen Hoddle up from the airport,or is he making his own way there ?
Block 5 Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 Just arrived at the Ramada Encore and it appears to be full of Carlisle fans. And they have taken all the smoking rooms. Nightmare!

Not sure about that; I'm sure someone else said previously that you could get 1500 on each train at a push? Also I think the next train out of Central after the 6.55 is the 7.55, then the 8.25?
saint J Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 I am driving down from Naaaaaaaaarwich, anyone travelling from this direction ? I'm going from Ipswich, as the trains aren't running as normal I have to get a BUS from Ipswich train station to stanstead airport, then train from there to Liverpool street. It's gonna be a right nightmare!!!!!

Andy_Porter Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 I have a spare day travel card for sale for tomorrow if anyone's intersted - £17
Pat from Poole Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 Each train holds 5000 people, with the extra football special that's 10k before 7.30 I believe. Jesus, if there's 5,000 people on my train (the 6,50am from Poole), I'll consider reviewing my will tonight.
IFHP Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 Each train holds 5000 people, with the extra football special that's 10k before 7.30 I believe. 5000 people on one train LOL thats one ****ing long train.
Andy_Porter Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 I would have thought that a 10 carriage train would have around 1,000 seats, probably get around 2,000-2,500 on them with people crammed in all over the place. No way would 5,000 fit on there.
Right sider Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 Could be mad at Central in the morning, station not normally open til 6.45 on sunday but I know loads who aim to be there by 6.15 to get their spot on the platform. Have a spare £17 travel card if anyone needs one.
beatlesaint Posted 27 March, 2010 Posted 27 March, 2010 Each train holds 5000 people, with the extra football special that's 10k before 7.30 I believe. There is no way 500 people occupy a carriage of a train, they are 10 carriage long trains and that includes First Classm the Guards compartment and the bit for bikes. I would do your maths again....having caught the train for years to Southampton when I lived in Weymouth I dont think I ever saw 500 people on one, never mind 5000 !!!
Whitey Grandad Posted 28 March, 2010 Posted 28 March, 2010 Drive to Denham which is just off the junction of the M25/M40. Then onto the Chilton Line train that takes 20 minutes into Wembley Stadium station. (2 stops) So much easier than fighting your way into Wembley by car. Brilliant advice! We caught the 11:12 after leaving home at 09:30 and we got back at 17:42. £3.50 to park At the station. The only problem I had was when she refused to accept my senior railcard. It turned out I was showing her my bus pass!
the saint in winchester Posted 29 March, 2010 Posted 29 March, 2010 Stayed overnight at Watford. Place was full of Carlisle Blue. One nutter refusing to pay to park in the nearest car park, even though there was no parking attached to the hotel. Had brekkie at the Wetherspoons. Again thought I had walked into one of their pubs. They didn't like me wandering round in my Saints replica shirt. Hey ho, we won.
