Sour Mash Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 What time do the tubes stop running on a Saturday and Sunday night? And how much would a taxi be from central london to Wembley in the early hours of Saturday night? The tubes stop running bit gone 00.30 on a Saturday night and 20/30 mins earlier on a sunday night, but obviously you don't want to cut it too fine. If you were to hail a black cab in the early hours of the morning to take you from central london to Wembley I reckon you'd be looking at not far off £40/50. If you were to pre-book a mini cab or were able to haggle with one of the illegal mini cabs, you could probably halve that amount. Night bus back from central london to wembley run all night and are free if you have a travel card from the previous day, would take a bit under an hour and are obviously not everyone's cup of tea.

The night bus would be fine, but the problem lies in being utterly wasted and the logistical problems of a) finding the bus stop and b) getting on the right bus. Cheers for the info though i'll do a google and see if i can get some bus numbers and bust stop numbers and locations. Mmmm, the bus route looks easy-ish if sober, but it wouldn't go to plan i'm sure of that. Sod it it's only money, it's gotta be a cab. Edited 8 March, 2010 by dune Done some research....
marc_saint Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 im going with Angela A friend of mine works for Angela Coaches. The N18 goes from the West End (starts at Trafalgar Square and goes through Oxford Circus) and goes to Wembley. Takes a while and goes through a few moody areas, but I've never had a problem on a night bus, as most "normal" people use them due to the cost of taxis.
Saint_Jonny Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 I just bought 4 tickets for the club coaches. Ive never used the coach for an away game before, usually make my own way there but wanted to have a stress free day. Do they send you a physical ticket or what? Not sure what the arrangement is there...

I've just done a search on the Transport for London journey planner and like you say the N18 leaves Trafalgar square and takes 1 hour to reach Cecil Avenue/Copeland school. It then says you need to change onto another bus BUT the time on this other bus is 5 minutes so presumably Cecil Avenue/Copeland school are in the vicinity of Wembley and an easy walk to the hotel (which is next to the stadium)? If it just requires 1 bus it seems a good option.

Miffy Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 21 of us booked onto the 6.55am from waterloo. Return ticket including travelcard £68 if you buy blocks of 4 adults. £17 each.... bargain! Also got tickets for Silverspoons, despite some of the adverse comments on here. Planning a bit of a session before and after, without the worries about where to get a drink. The Green Man sounds like its going to be seriously busy. All sorted now. Bring it on!!!! :drinkers: \\:D/
saint_neilo Posted 9 March, 2010 Posted 9 March, 2010 Just spoken to London Underground all tube lines will be open for Sunday 28th March happy days.

maysie Posted 9 March, 2010 Posted 9 March, 2010 Does anyone know how to get hold of anybody organising the coach from Weymouth to Wembley for the final?
Saint_clark Posted 9 March, 2010 Posted 9 March, 2010 Does anyone know how to get hold of anybody organising the coach from Weymouth to Wembley for the final? There isn't one mate. Everybody who used to go on the Weymouth Saints coach is using the train.
The Majestic Channon Posted 9 March, 2010 Posted 9 March, 2010 There isn't one mate. Everybody who used to go on the Weymouth Saints coach is using the train. Does gordon from dorchester road still go? he works on the granby.
Saint_clark Posted 9 March, 2010 Posted 9 March, 2010 Does gordon from dorchester road still go? he works on the granby. Never see him on the train tbh. There are still about 12-13 of us who used to use Weymouth Saints that go up week in, week out. Much more enjoyable on the train now though rather than having to worry about where you're being picked up from etc. Don't know if you remember Owen? He's still going to every game at 79 years old.

diggers Posted 9 March, 2010 Posted 9 March, 2010 As an update; Tickets are selling well for Silverspoons. MC booked and ready to create a real pre match part atmosphere. visit http://www.coyr.co.uk to buy your ticket. Saints Rock Wembley at Silverspoons, before and after the game.
Mr saint Posted 9 March, 2010 Posted 9 March, 2010 Does anyone know how to get hold of anybody organising the coach from Weymouth to Wembley for the final? Looked for coaches with National Express and a few other companies and couldn't see any at all. Bought my train tickets today. A return (well 2 singles) from Weymouth-Waterloo-Paddington cost me ~£18. Leaving Saturday afternoon and returning Monday morning, and staying with a mate who lives near Paddington. 2 single tickets bought in advance though was much much cheaper if you decide to go by train! (less than half the price of a return!). You'll have to put up with bus replacements between Weymouth and Wool though on the saturday if you do decide to go by train.
dune Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 (edited) Just bought two one day travel cards for the 27th and 28th online which they post to you. It costs £2 to use this service so 2 x £6.30 (zones 1-4 OFFPEAK) + £2, but it's one less thing to have to do on the day. Just remember you only need OFFPEAK travel cards on Saturdays and Sundays and after something like 9.30 on weekdays. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/faresandtickets/1067.aspx Edited 10 March, 2010 by dune
gogo_saint Posted 10 March, 2010 Posted 10 March, 2010 Getting the national express from Cardiff. Anyone else going from the 'diff?

Jimmy Gabriel's Halo Posted 14 March, 2010 Posted 14 March, 2010 Anyone going by train from the Sussex coast/mid Sussex area and into Victoria and up for a sherbet before or after in/around Victoria/West End ?
Rory Posted 14 March, 2010 Posted 14 March, 2010 Train it is. Also, I don't know why I'm getting irritated by this, but it's called The Silver Spoon, NOT Silverspoons. HTH.
The Majestic Channon Posted 14 March, 2010 Posted 14 March, 2010 Who would really be mug enough to spend a tenner getting in a pub that will be so packed it might take 15 minutes to get a beer in? Don't do it people, it's london ffs pubs everywhere! we might get off 2 or 3 stops before wembley park and have a beer .

Rory Posted 15 March, 2010 Posted 15 March, 2010 Is everyone wearing colours? I usually don't wear football apparel to games because it's tacky but I don't want to look like a mug if I'm the only one not wearing a Saints shirt.

St.JonB Posted 15 March, 2010 Posted 15 March, 2010 Anyone else catching the train from Fratton? Actually getting the train from dirty Havant due to the fact I'm going with a mate from Emsworth. Standing on the station in colours should be interesting. There must be other people from the wrong side of Fareham getting the train that leaves from Skatesmouth?
Norm Posted 15 March, 2010 Posted 15 March, 2010 If you are going by car and looking for somewhere to park, try http://www.parkatmyhouse.com. I'm booked in and have a 12 minute walk to stadium. Just a suggestion, may help someone.

I won't be wearing colours, I doubt Bellows or his old man will be either. Probably just that **** muncher Tim who will be wearing his shirt, maybe Steve as well.
Block 5 Posted 15 March, 2010 Posted 15 March, 2010 No im not, care to answer my question though?? If you're over 6 foot tall then be prepared to feel a bit cramped for a couple of hours. Your best bet is to get bladdered before you get on so that you don't care about the discomfort. HTH.
superstevesaints Posted 15 March, 2010 Posted 15 March, 2010 Hi guys, I've booked for 4 of us to get to London Victoria with Greyhound Coaches, anyone know the best route to get from London Victoria to Wembley?

Jesus Reigned Posted 15 March, 2010 Posted 15 March, 2010 It's with South West trains; doesn't include a travelcard to use for the tube, but we can buy these on the day for £6.30 each. A Gold Card is a yearly train season ticket; I use it for work to get to Whiteley every day. I think you can probably get the same discount with a "standard" railcard. Basically I bought 4 tickets for the price of 2 as a group discount.
Jesus Reigned Posted 15 March, 2010 Posted 15 March, 2010 Just checked and it's £61.60 for 4 tickets even without the Gold Card/Rail Card.

Don't do it people, it's london ffs pubs everywhere! we might get off 2 or 3 stops before wembley park and have a beer . For me. I want a beer at 9.00am. Remember its a Sunday, so not all pubs will be open 9.00am. But Silverspoons (Silver Spoons, The Silver Spoons whatever its called) will be serving me beer from 9.am. note it has a number of bars and plenty of bar staff, so it will be far easier to get served, than the Green Man or The Torch. I also normally drink away from grounds before a match, but as its Wembley, so what! Its next to the Stadium, its open at 9.00, and there will be one huge party in there. Its a special day, I am just going to enjoy myself with loads of other Red N Whites If you dont like it, thats your beef, but don't put others off!.... good luck in searching for a 9.am boozer. maybe a Wetherspoons (Wether Spoons, The Wetherspoons or whatever its called!). whatever you do have a brilliant day.
