diggers Posted 5 March, 2010 Posted 5 March, 2010 Yes, you are right of course, I'm really really sorry, you are a very clever person, Please would you consider buying a ticket for the best venue pre match sir?? (while we still have some to sell)
StuRomseySaint Posted 5 March, 2010 Posted 5 March, 2010 The truth... If it's raining - Best venue will be Silverspoons. If the weather is nice - Best venue will the the Green Man. There will be 44,000 Saints fans up there, I am pretty sure that there will be more than one good place to drink!
Block 5 Posted 5 March, 2010 Posted 5 March, 2010 Yes, you are right of course, I'm really really sorry, you are a very clever person, Please would you consider buying a ticket for the best venue pre match sir?? (while we still have some to sell) That's much more like it! Excellent!. I shall certainly give it some consideration. PS. Is there somewhere I can park my caravan?

stmaxx Posted 5 March, 2010 Posted 5 March, 2010 there is engineering works on the sunday and no trains betrween basingstoke and wokingand then diverted via staines, richmond to pickup the service at clapham junction

dune Posted 5 March, 2010 Posted 5 March, 2010 Will i be able to take a small rucksack into the ground?
dubai_phil Posted 5 March, 2010 Posted 5 March, 2010 Will i be able to take a small rucksack into the ground? If you cannot then at Paddington Left luggage Left Luggage is a secure place where you can leave items of luggage for collection later. This is located on platform 12 and all items will be scanned before acceptance. Please call 020 7262 0344 or click here for more information. If it is the same mob as at Heathrow then it is about 8 quid per day or part thereof
cadesupfront Posted 7 March, 2010 Posted 7 March, 2010 Anybody interested in 2 tickets Group save on the train from salisbury/andover 7.26am £36 the pair pm if interested
Hedgehog Posted 7 March, 2010 Posted 7 March, 2010 Does anyone know if the bus companies are laying on early buses, and not sticking to their normal Sunday service. Missed oppertunity by them if not, what with thousands of people trying to get to train station and St Marys.
John McAndrew Posted 7 March, 2010 Posted 7 March, 2010 i might have a few places spare on a coach ive hired...will know more next week, leaving st marys at 8.30ish...£15 per seat
RedArmy Posted 7 March, 2010 Posted 7 March, 2010 Are there any engineering works that will affect the train from Central to Waterloo? The tube looks fine from Waterloo to Wembley Park, so that won't be a problem. Group Savers are £60ish, so really hoping the service is ok from Soton to Waterloo. I've looked on a few sites now and they all say that trains leave at 6.55 and 7.55 and will take 2:13 each with 0 changes.
Andy_Porter Posted 7 March, 2010 Posted 7 March, 2010 There is engineering works so the train has to take a slightly different route hence why it takes 2 hours rather than an hour twenty.
RedArmy Posted 7 March, 2010 Posted 7 March, 2010 Ah right cheers. As long as it gets there and I don't have to get off, that's good enough for me.
latter day saint Posted 7 March, 2010 Posted 7 March, 2010 There is engineering works so the train has to take a slightly different route hence why it takes 2 hours rather than an hour twenty. cheers for that.was the only worry i had about the train. getting the 6.55 train so the 2hrs can be either used to catch up on some sleep or start early on the beers
cadesupfront Posted 7 March, 2010 Posted 7 March, 2010 The other possibility is to change at clapham junction and travel to victoria (6 minutes) tube to Paddington, then Tube to Wembley
dubai_phil Posted 7 March, 2010 Posted 7 March, 2010 The other possibility is to change at clapham junction and travel to victoria (6 minutes) tube to Paddington, then Tube to Wembley But then you'll miss the whole fun of going down the escalator at Waterloo singing OWTS

Just need to sort where I'm going to drink before the game, not sure if it's best to travel straight to Wembley and drink there or go to somewhere in the centre of London drink there and head to Wembley a bit later.

rick1976.4.38 Posted 7 March, 2010 Posted 7 March, 2010 i think saints fans should meet/gather at the globe on baker street and then onwards to wembley on jubilee line, good pub and seems to be the main pub before cup/england games
RedArmy Posted 7 March, 2010 Posted 7 March, 2010 That's my plan ^ It'll be the metropolitan line from Baker Street though.
rick1976.4.38 Posted 7 March, 2010 Posted 7 March, 2010 yeah should have said metropolitan, coyr.see you there
northam soul Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 According to Network Rail there are NO Engineering works on the 28th. The reason the journey takes 2 hours is purely because of the Sunday timetable, more stops and slower trains. I will be on the 07.11 from Eastleigh arriving at 09.08
Rory Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 Does anyone know how busy the 6.55 train will be? I don't mind standing for the trip but I want to be assured I don't miss it and have to wait for a later one, thus cutting down the beer consumption.
Rory Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 Everyone seems to be joining that drink at the Green Man pub group on Facebook but it's going to be absolutely rammed. You'd never get served. It's probably best to drink at a watering hole in the centre of London and then getting the tube to Wembley. Perhaps even stopping off at Camden market to browse the skinny jeans and perhaps pick up some rare vinyl? Just a thought?

I don't mind standing for the trip but I want to be assured I don't miss it and have to wait for a later one, thus cutting down the beer consumption. It should be fine, I'll get the tickets the day before and we can get there 10 minutes early to get on the platform.

They had 2000 in there last season, they have bottle banks all over the show as well.
Sour Mash Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 The other possibility is to change at clapham junction and travel to victoria (6 minutes) tube to Paddington, then Tube to Wembley Why on earth would anyone do that?
Mark Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 Think the quickest way from waterloo to wembley is the bakerloo line to marylebone, then catch the overground train to wembley stadium station.

Will look into the drinking situation and let you know some time in the week. I think drinking near the ground will probably be best considering the amount of people we need to meet up with. You coming down for the whole weekend?

Saints foreva Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 I've not read the whole of this thread so not sure if someone else had gave the tips. Could someone tell me the journey for the tube?
StuRomseySaint Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 I've not read the whole of this thread so not sure if someone else had gave the tips. Could someone tell me the journey for the tube? It's mostly underground.

dune Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 They had 2000 in there last season, they have bottle banks all over the show as well. I may be having a thick moment but when you say bottle banks is this the lingo for several bars?

StuRomseySaint Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 I may be having a thick moment but when you say bottle banks is this the lingo for several bars? As in places dotted around in the garden where you can buy bottles of beer from... and I think more than one serving draught beers.
Pilchards Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 As in places dotted around in the garden where you can buy bottles of beer from... and I think more than one serving draught beers. Whatever next, sperm banks?
dune Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 As in places dotted around in the garden where you can buy bottles of beer from... and I think more than one serving draught beers. Let's just hope it doesn't **** down with rain.
StuRomseySaint Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 Let's just hope it doesn't **** down with rain. They have numerous marquees, gazibos etc they will put up if the weather looks a bit dodgy.
RonManager Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 Whatever next, sperm banks? Not perhaps the first choice that springs to mind in pre-match beverages?
dune Posted 8 March, 2010 Posted 8 March, 2010 What time do the tubes stop running on a Saturday and Sunday night? And how much would a taxi be from central london to Wembley in the early hours of Saturday night?
