for_heaven's_Saint Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 Just noticed that Pompey have got Spurs away on the Saturday before the final- could make for some trouble with any fans staying over the night before the game.
SO16_Saint Posted 16 February, 2010 Author Posted 16 February, 2010 Living in Norway. Is it a gamble to buy plane tickets for me and my wife? Will I get tickets for the match? yes. Probably.
Neil Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 Please, please tell me SWT will be putting on extra football special trains that Sunday morning from So'ton to Waterloo?! With c44,000 Saints travelling to Wembley, anyone care to work out the combined train capacity between So'ton and Waterloo that morning, bearing in mind the 1.30 KO? (shudders thinking about it...)

stevegrant Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 Please, please tell me SWT will be putting on extra football special trains that Sunday morning from So'ton to Waterloo?! With c44,000 Saints travelling to Wembley, anyone care to work out the combined train capacity between So'ton and Waterloo that morning, bearing in mind the 1.30 KO? (shudders thinking about it...) Realistically, there are currently 6 scheduled services that morning. If (and it's a massive "if") they are all fully stocked with 10 carriages like the commuter train I get on every day, they could probably fit 1500 on each service at a bit of a squeeze. That would allow 9000 fans to get to Waterloo on the train. There are also two services from Southampton Central to Reading, where you could change to go to London Paddington. As these are Cross-Country services, they tend to have fewer carriages and fewer seats on those carriages.
SNSUN Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 Where's a good place to park up (to the north of London) and get the tube into London? I'll need somewhere safe to leave the car for the Sunday night. My dad works at West Ruislip on the Tube (Like father like son...) and has a car park there. It's a straight shot on the National Rail to Wembley Stadium Train Station, which of course will be open on the day. Get there earlyish because it fills up quick.
Andy_Porter Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 Will be getting the 6.55 train hopefully going early will avoid too much of a squeeze. If not I might just go the night before and stay with my mate in clapham.

I think it's touch and go whether that train will get you there before kick-off.
whiteleySaint30 Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 Phoned Southwest trains today as i was worried about train tickets 'selling out'. The lady I spoke to confrmed trains don't sell out as such. She was already aware of the game and suggested they will either lay on extra carriages or extra trains. Remember the old football specials of the 80's, they may do this for the day.
whiteleySaint30 Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 Anyone know if you can book the groupsave tickets already? lady on phone said you couldnt but it appears to let you on the internet? She said they couldnt do it as tube tickets will not be issued until 7 days before travel but why can i do it on the net?
Jimmy Gabriel's Halo Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 Anyone else going up from Sussex coast - Worthing area to be precise ? There's nothing worse than going to a game like this on the train on yer tod. There are railworks all day in the Battersea area so anyone doing the same journey as me may well get caught up. Buses are apparently running between some stations in that area but whether these are the local lines and/or the fast coast train lines I do not know.
Give it to Ron Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 Anyone know if you can book the groupsave tickets already? lady on phone said you couldnt but it appears to let you on the internet? She said they couldnt do it as tube tickets will not be issued until 7 days before travel but why can i do it on the net? I went and asked today from Soton Cental it works out at £68 per 2 adults. She said you had to buy no more than 7 days in advance for the Tube to be valid.
dune Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 The two most centrally located travelodges are now showing less than 5 rooms left for the Sunday night.
Ricky Redstripe Posted 16 February, 2010 Posted 16 February, 2010 Is there possible extra time? Or does it go straight to penalties? Could cause more problems for pre booking travel arrangements.
SO16_Saint Posted 17 February, 2010 Author Posted 17 February, 2010 Think i may just drive up now. Got to take my nephew and his mate up so would be safer than trawling through London on train / tube with 2 kids in tow!

Block 5 Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 Travel info now on the OS. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1967705,00.html Car parking available at Wembley - Coach minibus = £51.50 Car = £26.50 Blue Badge = £16.50
StuRomseySaint Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 If you are taking a coach up there, I know somewhere very close with free parking... and more to the point, it's in a pub car park. PM me for details.

StuRomseySaint Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 Stu - I can't pm you - please pm me! I have decided to go public with the details... mainly because there is something in it for me ( so please quote Stu when you book ) The Green Man Hotel is 5 minutes walk from the West entrance ( Saints end ) to Wembley, the pub is licensed from 7am and they will open as soon as the first coach arrives. They have car parking, minibus and coach. Coach parking for Southampton fans is FREE as long as you arrive 3 hours prior to kick-off, it's also on the other side of the ground to the main coach park, meaning it is easy to get in/out of and you avoid the hour wait after the game if you want to get away quickly. There is food available all day, BBQ and normally 4 or 5 bars inside and out, so little waiting time. For further details contact Mal on 07506 840652

dubai_phil Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 Just a word of caution peeps. Make sure before you go and book your travel that you double check that you have got everything the right way round. You wouldn't want to do this.... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/arsenal/7258539/Porto-v-Arsenal-Champions-League-live.html 19.30: From Henry Winter in Porto: "Apparently some Arsenal fans absent as they booked flights wrong way round: booked Gatwick-Porto for Friday & Porto-Gatwick for yesterday!" Be careful that darned innernet thingy is Soooo difficult. At least my flights are booked for 27th April all ok

saints_is_the_south Posted 17 February, 2010 Posted 17 February, 2010 Really don't see the problem with getting the train. 06.55 train up there should be quiet & gets into London at 9. Plenty of trains back after the game too. Not sure on the Tube arrangements for that weekend tho? Either way we'll find away around any engineering works. The pub Stu reccomends above sounds like a good shout!

The pub Stu reccomends above sounds like a good shout! I'll be on that train with 11 others. No idea where we are heading to when we get to Waterloo mind, should be a laugh. Still annoyed that the JPT is warm up to a Premiership game and not the 4 o'clock kick off.

Mitty Posted 18 February, 2010 Posted 18 February, 2010 How about this for a plan ........ Just had a look on Flybe site and the Belfast City - Southampton flight on Saturday morning is free, you pay taxes only (16 quid I think). Have a nice day in Southampton (a stadium tour/stock up with red and white goodies from The Club shop etc) join in the night before Wembley atmosphere in Southampton and catch the train/minibus/coach and travel with like minded folk the next day. The hotel/guest house would surely be much cheaper than London and would cover the transport up to Wembley (as if the mega cheap flt hadn't already!!!) Back to town after the game to join in the celebratery party afterwards. Fly back on Monday (Flights not much more than a fiver plus tax .... and you might even get to fly on the a/c with the picture of Matty on it!! You'll need to book up the airtickets pretty quick though before everybody gets wind of it!! sounds like a plan, would there be seats on coaches up and down available though?

saints_is_the_south Posted 18 February, 2010 Posted 18 February, 2010 Quiet depending on how many cans we take up  24 can special surely? I'd say so! The train will take longer on a Sunday so extra cans are a must!
NickG Posted 18 February, 2010 Posted 18 February, 2010 disorganised as ususal - not even thought about travel. Hopefully trains should be ok without booking
Ricky Redstripe Posted 18 February, 2010 Posted 18 February, 2010 Does anyone know if extra time could be played? This would affect the departure time of the coach I am planning to return on. If there is a possibility, then I would have to book a later coach. I've looked everywhere for the rules for the final, but can't find anything to confirm one way or the other. Thanks.
lordswoodsaints Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 how much is the limo working out for each person £850 for 16 people hummer
Norm Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 £850 for 16 people hummer Make it a 'round' £1000 and throw in a bacon buttie and a can of Lidl lager each. Reading another post on here, that seems to be the 'done' thing:rolleyes: Enjoy the ride up, I just hope you didn't book the Pink Hummer by mistake:D

Yes, I believe they do play extra time. I would advise you build in a fair bit of time anyway to get your coach back, can take a while to get out and away from wembley and you don't want to have to rush off if we win?
View From The Top Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 Those heading in from the Midlands / NW via the M40 should park at Hillingdon and tube in. You can park right next to the sation for a fee or for free 5 min walk away.
OWTSGMI Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 Been trying to find train times from Hedge End to London Waterloo without success so I phoned National Rail Enquiries to be told.... There are NO Trains from Hedge End to London Waterloo on Sunday 28th March!!!
Bucks Saint Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 Yes, I believe they do play extra time. I would advise you build in a fair bit of time anyway to get your coach back, can take a while to get out and away from wembley and you don't want to have to rush off if we win? Definitely will have extra time if needed. Luton won in extra time last year
Bucks Saint Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 Just noticed that Pompey have got Spurs away on the Saturday before the final- could make for some trouble with any fans staying over the night before the game. Doubt it. London is quite a big place with lots of people there.
Dimond Geezer Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 For those wishing to drive, many Wembley residents rent out parking spaces on match days, you can find these on ebay generally around £20 per car. I've just booked mine, £20 for seven of us, 15 minutes walk from the stadium.
daveygwyatt Posted 19 February, 2010 Posted 19 February, 2010 anyone wanting to drive at park at the stadium, I just booked my car parking space... and only showing 318 spaces left... so might be worth booking quick

Lol strange that, I have yet to tell my misses she's driving! 26 quid is a lot better than paying 2 adults and 3 kids on a coach or train... Not bothered how long it takes to get out time will fly by when we have won
