saints_is_the_south Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 If it's an early kick off I want to be in London by 9 for sure. There is a train at 06.55 which gets into Waterloo at 09.08 with no changes, the next train after that without a change is the 09.25 which gets into Waterloo at 11.22.

S41NTS Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 (edited) SWT do group discounts. http://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/groupsave.aspx#24389 I use this regularly and it brings the price down to around £15 return. The also do larger discounts for groups of 10 or more. Edited 10 February, 2010 by S41NTS
tonibell Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 Try Greyhound on 01282688160 about £12 it will cost you more than that to park
Right sider Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 What time is kick off, I seem to think I read it will be 12.00 noon.
Saint_clark Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 What time is kick off, I seem to think I read it will be 12.00 noon. Hope not, that will be f*cking retarded. Imagine coming down from Carlisle in time for that! Anyway, the thought of trying to get the train back with 40,000 other Saints fans put me right off that, so we're driving up now and parking in Richmond.
.comsaint Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 What time is kick off, I seem to think I read it will be 12.00 noon. It has yet TBC. I'm hoping for at least a 2.00 pm kick-off at the earliest - preferably 3.00 pm.
northam soul Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 It has yet TBC. I'm hoping for at least a 2.00 pm kick-off at the earliest - preferably 3.00 pm. Got to allow plenty of drinking time before the game, will not be impressed if its a 1.00 kick off as that will ruin the day. Those train times seem slow as it normally takes hour and half from parkway only calling at a couple of stations. Are their works or a different schedule on a sunday.
Um Bongo Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 What time is kick off, I seem to think I read it will be 12.00 noon. At the moment, 13.30 kick off. Last year was 13.15, listed on Sky.
richie Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 The Jubilee line will probably be closed. (weekends) Expect nightmares on the tube.
thefuriousb Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 Major engineering works at Clapham junction that weekend. Trains being re-directed adding time to the rail journey
oldsarum Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 The Jubilee line will probably be closed. (weekends) Expect nightmares on the tube. I checked London underground website earlier and Jubilee Line - Open March 28th http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk/user/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2
bungle Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 It will be about 1.15pm KO. Sky are contracted to show a PL game at 4pm, and it won't be allowed to overlap into that.

London trains on a sunday are crap. Use this link, it should update: http://traintimes.org.uk/sou/wat/first/2010-03-28
The Godfather Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 It will be about 1.15pm KO. Sky are contracted to show a PL game at 4pm, and it won't be allowed to overlap into that. Well both a our first leg and last nights game at carlisle were live at 7pm and had a premier league game live at 7.45pm which overlapped. Last seasons game kicked off at 3pm I think.
The Saturday Boy Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 It will be about 1.15pm KO. Sky are contracted to show a PL game at 4pm, and it won't be allowed to overlap into that. Kick off at 1.30pm, according to this - http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12942,00.html

Islander Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 IMPORTANT!! Just realised that 28th March is the start of British Summertime - so will all need to get up one hour earlier!!!! Don't miss the 1st half!
Rebel Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 I checked London underground website earlier and Jubilee Line - Open March 28th http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk/user/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2 Like that will be on time! by coach is probably the best way!
SNSUN Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 I'll walk to Wembley if I have to! (Although I live in Egham and work for LUL so it's simples for me to get there.)
JRM Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 if you think it is bad coming up from southampton check trains coming down from carlisle, looks like they will have to come down saturday or by coach/cars sunday, couldnt make kick off otherwise.
seano Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 I'll walk to Wembley if I have to! (Although I live in Egham and work for LUL so it's simples for me to get there.) i will also walk to wembley because i live in wembley. very simples.

SuperMikey Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 One of the grumpy programme sellers told me last night before the game that the club had already ordered 100 coaches to Wembley the day before. Whether this is true or not is another thing though.
PaulSaint Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 Someone suggested to me that a drive up the M3/M25 to Heathrow and a fast train straight to Wembley is quite a good plan (so long as one of you is T-Total)? Anyone tried this?
darren1 Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 Couldnt be arsed to read all of these, but there is a fast train to London, then a slow one. The fast one only does about 4 stops. Get a day card with underground so you get off at Waterloo, enjoy a few of the bars on the Thames then walk across the footbridge (Tube it if you're lazy) to Embankmet right across the water. There you can get a tube straight to Wembley Pretty much. You can then go on the lash in London before the 1:50 train home
dubai_phil Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 Someone suggested to me that a drive up the M3/M25 to Heathrow and a fast train straight to Wembley is quite a good plan (so long as one of you is T-Total)? Anyone tried this? Huh? The fast train is Heathrow Express to Paddington it is about 24 quid return Then you have to get from there to Wembley on the Underground You can get the Connect Service which is about 16 quid return to somewhere like Ealing Broadway or Acton there are buses along the North Circular - will check them out But both are expensive compared to other methods I'm doing my googling tomorrow. Already found a web site with hotels in London from 39 quid a night, but damned if I'm telling you lot until I've found one and booked it!
Pat from Poole Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 IMPORTANT!! Just realised that 28th March is the start of British Summertime - so will all need to get up one hour earlier!!!! Don't miss the 1st half! That's a real pain in the gonads, effectively a 12.30pm kick-off then (in drinking terms).
saint lard Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 Drive to Osterely tube station, free parking, few scoops in the Osterley Hotel pub, then onto Wembley. Back to the hotel after for a ruby.Mighty fine Indian restaurant attached to the premises. Lovely jubbly.
fatpix2003 Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 ibis hotel in wembley, twin room £38 booked 6 weeks ago, get in
hamster Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 I think that they only have the one, but these do a great price for 15 seater mini-bus. They also work Sundays so it can be picked up on the day. Less than £70 for a day. I was gonna book it myself but will be away that weekend and am going to be 'taking the dog for a walk' on the Sunday and fully expect t lose him, returning home late evening half-cut to find said dog has mysteriously found his own way home. I will probably also forget to turn my phone on that day too. http://www.a2bhire.co.uk/7_17_seaters.asp Tel: 023 8081 1008

Anyone tried this? Best of all drive to Denham (near junction of M25 and M40 ) plenty of parking at Denham station. Take the train (Chiltern Railways) from Denham to Wembley Stadium (20mins) Regular Wembley users use this route all the time Regards Morph
Right sider Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 For those that wish to travel by train, at the station arrange into groups of 4 people and get a group saver ticket for half price fares.
Thedelldays Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 I will be parking at my mates house in Tunbridge Wells and going by train i think from there

That would be good for me, even if I do have to miss out on an afternoon's skiing  I'll be in Tignes desperately trying to find a pub that has Sky, and if I am lucky on that score, I've got to hope the match doesn't clash with a Prem game, 6 Nations rugger or a twiddlywinks match Fingers crossed.
SNSUN Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 i will also walk to wembley because i live in wembley. very simples. Everyone round to Seanos gaff for a booze up! I went to 6th form (Strode's) in Egham. I'll be joining the train at Walton On Thames. There's still lovely looking lady types sitting on the wall outside. (I'm still young enough to say that without being a "perverted old man"... :-D)
fanimal Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 And apparently the police have sent out a note saying no alcohol on the coach or driver loses his licence and it goes no further! The real question is what time to leave for a 1.30 ko? If we do get 40,000 tickets it will be a crawl up the M3 - how about the A34/M4 alternative? Lets hope the Highways Agency use their brains and keep the M3 free from weekend roadworks as well!
Mitty Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 could anybody out there be able to give me so general advice?! Im hoping to fly over rfom Belfast for the game, does anybody know what Airport would be best to fly into and any decent hotels to stay in for a night in London?
stevegrant Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 All of the "London" airports have decent and direct links into the city, so take your pick. Ryanair probably fly to Gatwick, Luton or Stansted. For hotels on that weekend, check here: http://www.laterooms.com/en/p8800/k16295585_london-hotels.aspx
Iowsaintsfan Posted 11 February, 2010 Posted 11 February, 2010 Booked a hotel at wembley Im set COYRs!
