saint peach Posted 9 February, 2010 Posted 9 February, 2010 Should Portsmouth’s talks with Inland Revenue continue to stall, the club will almost certainly enter administration tomorrow or Thursday morning. By doing so they protect themselves from being wound-up and can continue to operate as a going concern. It is their best case scenario but they would have to take a points hit, despite rumours to the contrary. It’s going to be an interesting build-up to the big game this weekend...

If they dont win tonight a points deduction wont make much difference I wouldnt have thought !

I can't see it going beyond the court hearing.
Foxy Posted 9 February, 2010 Posted 9 February, 2010 Talks have stalled as per skysports news. Not sure from what more knowledgeable posters have stated elsewhere that admin an option from their side with a WU petition scheduled.
benjii Posted 9 February, 2010 Posted 9 February, 2010 A qualifying creditor could still put them into admin.
qwertySFC Posted 9 February, 2010 Posted 9 February, 2010 Don't we have a thread discussing all of this in the lounge ... It makes so much easier to keep up to date if all realted material is on that thread surely :smt119
Shandy_Top_89 Posted 9 February, 2010 Posted 9 February, 2010 Will they take a points hit if they go into admin? I thought the FA didnt hand out punishments for admin like the Football League and the Non-League does, or am I living in the past?

Hilariously, many Pompey fans seem to thing it shouldn't apply to them because of the "exceptional circumstances".

Matthew Le God Posted 9 February, 2010 Posted 9 February, 2010 I thought the FA didnt hand out punishments for admin like the Football League and the Non-League does, or am I living in the past? It has nothing to do with the FA. The Premier League would give them -9 points. So many people confuse the FA, Premier League and Football League. All are different organisations!!!
Junior Mullet Posted 9 February, 2010 Posted 9 February, 2010 The rule states a 9-point deduction. Hilariously, many Pompey fans seem to thing it shouldn't apply to them because of the "exceptional circumstances". I would happily agree with them and see them forego the 9 point deduction (frankly it will not change anything anyway) provided they handed back the FA Cup they won, everything they gained from the Eurpean excursion the following season etc. Pompey gained from living beyond their means at the detriment of other clubs who were more prudent. They therefore should be punished. That said, my views on the parent company goiong into admin with the club company not being in admin remain as they were for Saints - ie. they should not be punished unless the rules clearly state otherwise. I wonder what their exceptional circumstances are. Perhaps something to do with the Disability Discrimination Act on the grounds that they are all inbred mongs.

qwertySFC Posted 9 February, 2010 Posted 9 February, 2010 My bad. Do as you wish. Thing is SP, this topic has been discussed in some length , detail and accuracy by some very well written articles by posters from SWF and the administration thread being discussed on the main board distracts from the main PortsmouthTakeover Saga , with over 10,000 posts , it will become an icon in the history of SWF and as contributers to that Inital post from FF we owe it to become the most laughed , enjoyed and memorable post ever... what ever the outcome of our Fishey neighbours , the Takeover thread is the plaice to post all relevant discussions .... Its complelling reading every day every hour..

Norm Posted 9 February, 2010 Posted 9 February, 2010 Is this Saints related? Are we going to discuss West Ham on here as well as Pompey? Off to 'The Lounge' with this.

Pretty sure you'll find playing your arch rival at the weekend who happen to be going into administration that same week is Saints related.

So many people confuse the FA, Premier League and Football League. All are different organisations!!! My bad. I was aware of the difference between the FA and the FL, which seemed to stump so many when we took the 10 point hit. But i thought the FA ran the Premier League, ta for the correction .
so22saint Posted 9 February, 2010 Posted 9 February, 2010 yet, somehow, equally as inept as oneanother and all in the same building, sharing infrastructure, secretary staff etc...

Please explain to me how? If they go into Admin, they are deducted PREMIER LEAGUE POINTS! It does not mean they go out of business and fold. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry and will stand in the dunces corner.

If I'm wrong, I'm sorry and will stand in the dunces corner. The premier league automatically, on the club entering administration, dock the 9 points. In the same way Cry Pal were deducted 10 points by the FL immediately.

It does not mean they go out of business and fold. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry and will stand in the dunces corner. I was never saying that, not alluding to it. It effects us because we are playing them on Saturday. My comments were purely based on the fact that are opponents are going into administration three days before we face them. Do you not think that will have an effect on performance, morale and such like? Surely that is Saints related.
eelpie Posted 10 February, 2010 Posted 10 February, 2010 Midnight on BBC website. Just flashing to say that talks between Poorpey and HMRC have broken down, but no details yet.
