saint_stevo Posted 9 February, 2010 Share Posted 9 February, 2010 Afternoon...... Right, tough one (i think) Want to have a server, which has 2 nic's to be connected to the LAN and to an outside line, i.e DSL. Easy enough i hear you cry. But on the NIC connected to the DSL line we want to limit it's connections to a single (external) site. Is this possible? Was thinking we could make an entry into the hosts file, but then surely that would be for all connections, rather than per NIC. Any ideas at all? Baj Posted 9 February, 2010 Share Posted 9 February, 2010 Yup, any client could change their dns settings to avoid the using the host as its dns server. Your best bet is probably some piece of software that can manage that, I'm sure one of the other users on here who deals with server administration will be able to suggest the best software. Mewsta Posted 9 February, 2010 Share Posted 9 February, 2010 Stevo, Microsoft's ISA server would be best for this...... or an equivalent as I understand it's quite expensive.....
Mewsta Posted 9 February, 2010 Share Posted 9 February, 2010 Sorry, also forgot that you may be able to do it with Microsoft's Office Communications Server although, I'm not sure of cost again.

Sev Posted 9 February, 2010 Share Posted 9 February, 2010 Any decent hardware firewall should also enable you to set up rules to that effect.

That was the backup option, wanted to see if i could do it thru the OS etc originally. Cheers
