MK Dons Build Up Thread - It's a sell-out, folks!

What do you think the team will be?

I'm going for pretty much the same one we played against them in the first leg, but Papa may start ahead of Antonio. Maybe bring Harding in for Mills as well.

Harding has to start in my opinion. Need an experienced cool head tomorrow night and Mills isn't that yet. Thomas at right back is also a must as they seem to hate playing against him, MK Don's left back Lewington has had 2 torrid games against Antonio.

That would be a big mistake IMHO as he ran them ragged and was MoM in the first leg !

Davis

Thomas Fonte Jaidi Harding

Antonio James Schneiderlin Lallana

Lambert Waigo

I'm assuming that Hammond and Connolly are still unfit !

talking about mk dons...they're without some of their best players, including easter (their top scorrer) and obviously...puncheon ;) - nice ploy by us there.

but we still need to be carefull, they come into the game with no pressure and will attack for fun....that's why i'd bring back Harding into the team, mills has done ok...but i think we need experience in this game.

I thought Antonio was perhaps our best player on the pitch (other than Thomas), so I would start him as well but I have a feeling Papa will start.

Be also interesting to see if Pardew starts Perry or Jaidi with Fonte.

Thomas - Fonte - Jaidi - Harding

Antonio - Morgan - James - Holmes

Lallana - Barnard

i think barnard is cup tied - if he is, i'd go with Papa up top with lambert...

+1. Papa & Lambert are just about the only strikers we've got available at present, I think.

i'd go Gillett instead of James. Don't rate James in CM at all, too slow in every department.

In fact I'd prefer Wotton to James,; at least some little wimp isn't going to get past him without serious collateral damage.

Get Chris Perry back in, he was awesome up there and then v Ipswich!

See we have sold over 28000 tickets now, and they have sent some back, so more noise from the Northam.

I am so looking forward to this more important than beating the Cod Snogging Freaks in my book I so want to go to Wembley & see us win a trophy.

If we get the result we need I can see a massive feelgood facture coming in to play Saturday and then we will smash the Gippo fence lickers

The team for me should be

Kelvin

Thomas Fonte Jaidi HARDING (please)

James Wotton Morgan Lallana

Waigo Lambert

I think Wotton in to break up play so need Harding at left back and Waigo's scoring record in this comp means he should start

I dont know why but 2 0 to the mighty Saints come on lets have it !

Thomas--Jaidi--Fonte--Harding

Waigo-----Lallana------Holmes

the team will be:

-------------------Davis------------------

--Thomas----Jaidi---------Fonte-----Mills--

-------Schneiderlin--Wotton---James-------

---Antonio---------------------Lallana------

Same as the first leg. All we need is a draw or a win. Go 2-0 up and then start to rest important player gradually in the second half, like take off Rickie for Papa Waigo, Fonte for Perry and Lallana for mills/holmes just to give them a break for saturdays game.

Mills was loaned to S****horpe last season and helped them into and through the playoffs. Why does he need experience when he has been in a similar position, if not a more important game being a league related game.

Waigo and not Antonio to start I hope

I would always keep one of them on the bench, incase we need some fresh pace. I'd hate to be Lewington in that scenario. Having Waigo drag your sorry ass up and down the left flank for an hour, then have a fit and fresh Antonio come on and tare you a new anus.

No matter how good they are, we need at least one on the bench. Excellent impact subs. I'd start with Waigo, given his odd surges in form in this competition.

Antonio has torn them apart twice this season, why not a 3rd time?

Agreed but ....He'll need to be a whole lot better than he was at Exeter

I've know for the last few weeks, but f**kin' 'ell it's just hit home this evening. A draw tomorrow and we're off to Wembley. If anyone is free tomorrow and not going you should be shot.

It'll be tough, but I think we'll do it... 1-1 draw.

I hope we win. I dont think I could take the last few minutes if we're drawing. Does it go straight to penalties again if we are level on aggregate after 90 minutes?

Making my way down from near Cambridge. I do not care what anyone says this is a big one. We are a league 1 side and this is a compitition like any that is there to be won!

How many tickets did MK return? there should be plenty available for pay on the day

I think a complete block (44?) because there OS is saying that their tickets are now unreserved seating.

Doubt there will be plenty! They opened Block 43 up last week due to MK selling so poorly but they can't open any further than this can they? Guessing MK fans will have blocks, rows and seat numbers on their tickets already

Yes, my ticket is in Block 44 which the ticket office bloke informed me that MK Dons had returned, so I basically had the pick of seats when booking my ticket. I'm right next to the away 'fans', and this'll be my first game in the Northam. Let's make it one to remember!

I'm worried about this game.

We've been poor the last couple of games

We on here are ****y and over confident

Jeez, haven't we learnt ANYTHING over the years. The fans, AP's selection and the players have to be on top form tomorrow, anything less and we could be looking like total pratts.

We SHOULD win this, we WANT to win this, but the players and fans have to go with the right mental attitude because we could very easily lose it.

Posted

I am also worried about this game, as i was with the first leg. I can see a nervous 90 minutes but i think we can do it. We need to start at a decent tempo and get on the front foot as soon as possible, if we give them a sniff i think we could have big problems.

Yes, I would like us to start fast and positive too. I remember it was no less than Bill Shankly who said, "Start fast, and you can always slow down. Start slow and you'll never speed up".

That's not 100% true nowadays, but it is much harder to raise the tempo once a team is set into a slow one.

I'm just remembering Villa in their League Cup 2nd leg, started slow and suddenly found themselves 2-0 down. That is unthinkable.

We need to do one thing very well tomorrow night and that's close the Dons down quickly and decisively.

If we let them play the ball around, sit back and wait for them to bring it on, I predict we'll lose the game and possibly miss out on the Wembley spot. If THAT happens then Saturday's game will be a sham...Pimpley will trounce us. And if THAT happens, it will lead to crowd tension, booing and the players will be affected to the point where the Norwich game could be a disaster too.

So....close Dons down, don't let them play the ball and lastly, play to win...forget the 1st leg and a draw cannot be considered good enough. With many key Dons players out, we should win this comfortably at home.

Same team as the first leg please (assuming Hammond is not fit).

The news on Hammond's recovery has been zero, it would be nice to know when he's due back. Originally it was out for two week since injury against Millwall on the 16th January and if he was close to a return surley he would of had a runout for the reserves win over Forest Green.
