hamster Posted 7 February, 2010 Share Posted 7 February, 2010 Hi, just wandered if anyone knows of any live music on this eveneing in the Bassett area. We can get dropped off so as long as it's sort on the Blue Star 2, Unilink bus route we'll consider it. Would consider a taxi journey of sub £10 perhaps, as long as the taxi driver speaks, don't care what language just need one that speaks. Preferably pub and ideally playing 'covers' or acoustic. NOT The Brook please. Oh and a pub that sell proper beer, lager and John Smith's Smooooothflow would simply ruin it for me. mrs drinks house red. Thanks in advance hamster

hamster Posted 8 February, 2010 Author Share Posted 8 February, 2010 En-route to The Cricks we decided to go to the Talking heads instead, due to it being nearer home and the fact that mrs h cannot hold her wine. Great night, four good acts culminating in a 8/9 piece sax band, they were brilliant and totally not we expected to see down there. Best of all and great news for you real ale fans out there, they have a couple of barrels of 'Flower Pots' at the mo. A pint of 'Pots' is one of the holy grails of the beer world, it is a true king of beers, a true king. Gravity poured straight from the cask at the back of the bar as nature intended too, no pipes and pumps involved. They've also got a cask of 'Gooden' which is a slightly sweeter and another lovely ale that I shall be visiting again, it is definitely one that I would recommend to someone wishing to dip their proverbial toes into the world of beard-wearing real ale. It's also a nice one for the ladies.

My mate used to make that stuff before he went to Uni, brewed just down the road from here. Very nice pint indeed, very enjoyable after playing cricket in the summer. Good times.
