But a St Mary's spokesperson said: "It is a relatively small amount of money for us so we are prepared to take the risk rather than cause any bad feeling."

That sentence sort of rubs it in though - "we have considerably more money than you" ;)

i also LMFAO!!!!..... i really can't imagine anyone at the Club really saying that, but fair play to the journo for coming up with that! GREAT!!

With so many bad news bulletins about the blues I have a nasty feeling that the blue army will want to have a ruck. They will want to leave their calling card in case it is their last chance to do so.

Posted

I just cannot see it myself. With the amount of CCTV and Police about, along with the convictions that would be dished out for anyone caught having aggro, I would be surprised. Why see your club go down the pan, with a criminal conviction to boot?

Really unlikely IMHO. The vast majority of Poopey fans are not the demons alot of people seem to speak of...

I chuckled at that little gem too.

Tbh i think that statement is actually the biggest **** take possible from SFC! :) especially where it is such a small amount :D

Agreed. It'll have the pikeys fuming.:D

Is there a danger they won't make it to next week's game?

Yes. It's been reported that if they are wound up we will get a by to the next round and their league results and fixtures wiped out.

Posted

Whilst it's funny I think it was a mistake to help them out, should have demanded cash up front for the tickets and put more pressure on their finances IMO.

It's not ****ing charity week, I thought we were supposed to be running a business here. If they can **** a hundred grand up the wall how about opening the whole ground for the less popular fixtures so we can sit where we want.

This is a non story!!!

It is not written off or even helping Pompey really.

1) If the game goes ahead then it can be deducted from the gate receipts Saints would have to pay Pompey.

2) If the game doesn't go ahead then it doesn't matter as no-one would have a ticket as would all have to be refunded anyway.

I think we should have demanded payment up front, and when they didn't pay up then not give them the tickets!

That would just be boring, think what we have done along with the alleged statement above is far far better, if true that we will still hold a percentage of gate money then we shouldn't be out of pocket in any event.

Yeah ? I can only see that happening for those that paid by credit card(them not us, Obviously !!)

Posted
If they don't pay, surely we'd just hold back £120k of the gate receipts they are due?

Maybe that will happen, it is still a gesture though not to demand payment up front. Whatever you feel about Pompey, I still think it is good to see our Club making nice gestures like this, it puts us in a good light, and continues to distance us from the shenanigans of "He who shall not be mentioned" in the past. There are already murmurings of jealousy among other cubs because of our financial situation, it is nice to have some positive spin as well. Our club was always well respected in the past and it would be good if that reputation which had become somewhat tarnished was restored.

Well done to SFC, it is good to know that there are people around who are not solely driven by the bottom line.

Actually if the game doesn't go ahead I may keep my ticket as a collectors item and have it framed as the "game that never happened".

You do get some anoraks that collect ticket stubs. Reckon you might get a few quid for it ebay.:)

I bet someone loved making that statement. It is such a polite but loaded statement. Absolute classic and much more effective than moronic insults !

The $64,000 question is who becomes responsible to pay the money back to the P****mouth Fans if they are wound up on Wednesday, is it the P****mouth Ticket office that is effectively out of business, Southampton Ticket office as we supplied the tickets or The FA ?

I lol'd at the "small amount of money for us" statement, as many others already have judging by this thread! ;)

Personally I think it's great that we're giving them the tickets for free, it wouldn't be the same without the P*mpey fans there to give a bit of stick to and I think it's a really nice gesture by the club. Let's just hope that we can have something to cheer about come the end of the match on Saturday...

Surely the skates would be happy to be helping out their club with a cash donation at this time. Had to LOL at the relatively small amount to us statement. Talk about rubbing salt in the wound. I'd guess that the poopey fans would have to right it off, as its obvious now that we've not got the money, they have  unless they've brown paper bagged it away already.

Ironic isn't it!

Wasn't it only for about £160,000 that Barclays bounced the cheque that cause RL to put us into admin? Now it's small change, lol!

If the game doesn't go ahead it will be because the club is dead. Gone. No money and nothing to pay us for the tickets they have sold.

So if Skates get wound up on wednesday and there is no game, how do the skate fans get their refunds for tickets? I am sure we'll get ours . I suggest Saints send each and every one a saint crested cheque. They'll never bank them and it would rub the salt in just a little bit

I'm sure, as yet another good will gesture, Mr Cortese will send them all a free ticket for a game of their choice at SMS.

It's only fair.

hehehehehe - the ritual humilliation of it.

NC plays another blinder.

For some reason, Harry Enfield flashed into my mind when I read that quote.

Less than 1200 pounds.

It's funny you said that, because when I read it, I googled 'Stanley and pammy"+ "I do believe we are considerably richer than yow".

The best bit is from 3.35 onwards

I think you will find it will be the least troublesome game you have ever been to.

Does this now mean we're a creditor of PFC ? Anyone thinking what I'm thinking?

Technically they have until the day of the game to pay us.

Section 21 (page 15 of 23) says :-

(v) The Visiting Club should settle with the Home Club for sales of tickets on or before the day of the match.

For info Section 22 (page 16 of 23) gives the split of the gate money, so as soon as the match starts we owe them (22.b.iii) (Note that is NET receipts).

I'm sure they're not, but as the police liaison officer in the Saints end said at the Alan Knight testimonial: "An awful lot of the old trouble-makers have come out of the woodwork today"..

as much as I would love to believe this report, it was written by the Screws Of The World and I am always sceptical when there is no named source for their quotes ie. A St Marys Spokesman said, or an insider said, passer by or some other made up invisible source.

I am sure Saints would take firmer action if there was a very good chance of them getting wound up before Saturday. Administration is the most likely outcome and the game will go ahead. Still always good to take the p1ss out of our tin pot rivals.
