NickG Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 sweet but bit corny story for OS - but then couldn't help smiling when read ticket for life bit!
Tomobz Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 cortese is actually some sort of messiah to the fans
beatlesaint Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 cortese is actually some sort of messiah to the fans Compared with his predecessor yes he is
brianoneils slidingtackle Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 Congratulations to the new parents, what an understanding wife :-). Well done the Saints.
gaz Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 I bet The Echo are crying over that missed exclusive! Congrats to the family though
alpine_saint Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 Cortese is a class act, it has to be said...
Andy_Porter Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 I don't know which I prefer Cortese of the babies little hat.
Crab Lungs Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 Cortese definitely on the charm offensive. But don't get me wrong - he's doing it not just to prove a point that he is a good person but because he GENUINELY IS ONE.
beatlesaint Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 Cortese definitely on the charm offensive. But don't get me wrong - he's doing it not just to prove a point that he is a good person but because he GENUINELY IS ONE. Well he certainly isn't doing it for publicity in the local papaer
Gingeletiss Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 I think this is a fantastic story...the last few years have been bad, in all sorts of ways, but this has me smiling from ear to ear.
Bailey Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 Ha fair play for staying in the queue! Nice touch from Cortese and the club too, great stuff.
latter day saint Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 was great reading that, makes you so proud to be part of our club. that bloke is a very lucky man though.my missus would have served my balls to me on a plate if i'd stayed in the queue
Chez Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 wonder if this story has been sent to the nationals by the club thereby bypassing the local paper totally?
Saintgaz Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 Just read the story. Congrats to the new parents and well done Mr. Cortese. Nice to have a chairman with a heart!!! Gives such a feel good factor about the club, and made me smile too!!
DAZZER82 Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 just seen this story its my wifes cousin, fair play to the club, nise touch by mr cortese. congrats to vince & rebecca
St Landrew Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 What a brilliant story, and what a superb imaginative gesture by Nicola Cortese and the club. It slightly makes the head spin trying to work out if this is the same club I have been following these recent years. The transformation is amazing. Oh, and congratulations to the parents of little Jessica too. I wonder how long it will be before she takes her seat..?
rocknrollman no2 Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 The more i hear about Mr Cortese, the more i think the club is in very safe hands. Well done to the happy couple and to Mr Cortese.
dune Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 Murray will give her free daily echos for life so as not to be upstaged.
Deano6 Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 I heard from close sources within the club that Cortese only offered the Season Ticket after he found out it was a girl, and so would be unlikely to be going to any games anyway. They also said he has instructed turnstile operators to be on the lookout for other people trying to get in on that ticket. Despicable IMO.
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 cortese is actually some sort of messiah to the fans He's not a messiah, he's a very naughty boy !
Under Weststand Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 What a nice touch by NC & congratulations to all the family. Also welcome another Saint in Jessica.
Huffton Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 Murray will give her free daily echos for life so as not to be upstaged. It will save on the cost of baby wipes for a few years;) Congrats Mum and Dad, and welcome to the Saints family Jessica:cool:
VectisSaint Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 cortese is actually some sort of messiah to the fans Was thinking more of a Santa Claus (or Saint Nic perhaps)
benjii Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 I stood on a freezing terrace at Elm Park watched us get two red cards and lose to Reading.... I stood in Krap Nottarf and watched them put four past us... I've seen us lose to countless lower league teams.... I've spent hundreds, thousands of pounds watching Saints.... what do I get? Jack ****.
swannymere Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 Who remembers the tannoy announcement at St.Mary's that some lad at the game had become a dad and missed it because he was at the match!
La BoIS Saint Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 Free ticket for life or free ticket for as long as Cortese is around?
Gigersaint Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 Congratulations to the happy couple and welcome to the newest Saints supporter. Nice gesture from NC as well for them all.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 Another reason to be proud to be associated with Saints. NC is bit by bit reminding us all what it is to be part of a football CLUB that is at the heart of great City. Congrats to the proud parents.
Griffo Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 I want a free season ticket for the rest of my ****ing life too.
Saintandy666 Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 I want a free season ticket for the rest of my ****ing life too. Is that you in your picture?
Avenue Saint Posted 5 February, 2010 Posted 5 February, 2010 (edited) Work with the girl, very happy for them.. What a gesture by NC. Should be a nice tonic for all the twisted moaners, looking for the first opportunity to jump on the "Adolph Cortese" banwagon! True gent! Edited 5 February, 2010 by Avenue Saint
ericofarabia Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Skatesmuff are going to do a similar thing to the next tadpole born at FP .... safe in the knowledge it will cost sweet FA as the season ticket for life will only last 2 weeks and they don't have a home game till the week after
ericofarabia Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Oh and PS .... Congrats to the Happy Couple .... what a darling she is .... stay in the queue I'll get my mum to take me to the hospital ...... she's a keeper mate
SFC Forever Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Skatesmuff are going to do a similar thing to the next tadpole born at FP .... safe in the knowledge it will cost sweet FA as the season ticket for life will only last 2 weeks and they don't have a home game till the week after Have to disagree with you I am afraid. If they are still alive in two weeks time they will auction one.
david in sweden Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 What a brilliant story, and what a superb imaginative gesture by Nicola Cortese and the club. It slightly makes the head spin trying to work out if this is the same club I have been following these recent years. The transformation is amazing. Oh, and congratulations to the parents of little Jessica too. I wonder how long it will be before she takes her seat..? Agreed Andrew, It's good to see someone who's close enough to the fans to react to this joyful event. I think Cortese was moved by the story (as we were) and what a wonderful humitarian response. At least, he didn't do it in the hope of getting a good coverage in the Echo !
suewhistle Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 I heard from close sources within the club that Cortese only offered the Season Ticket after he found out it was a girl, and so would be unlikely to be going to any games anyway. Mwah, ha, ha. You should look around at the crowd more!
Saint_clark Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Mwah, ha, ha. You should look around at the crowd more! The whole of halftime is spent bird watching for me
SO16_Saint Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Ugly little c**t, but fair play. Cortese? A bit harsh IMO!
saint boggy Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 I heard from close sources within the club that Cortese only offered the Season Ticket after he found out it was a girl, and so would be unlikely to be going to any games anyway. They also said he has instructed turnstile operators to be on the lookout for other people trying to get in on that ticket. Despicable IMO. have you looked at the crowd recently Deano, especially in the Family Section .....LOADS of little girls in there with their mums and dads, so doubt very much if your "source" is correct. We haven't even had a game since Jessica was born....so how the hell would he have done that already (unless of course the turnstile operators live at the stadium between games, or perhaps he's phoned them all up to tell them in person!) stop being such a sourpuss and just enjoy a nice heartwarming story .....
saint_stevo Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 wish they had written it as P*mpey tickets rather than Pompey.....
SNSUN Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 I wish I had a Saints supporting wife/girlfriend. With my missus being a Norwich fan, I'd have had my nuts cut off for staying in the queue when she was in labour! Congrats to the parents and the lucky newborn.
SnailOB Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 They could have at least called the baby Nicola Congrats to the three of them
