Weston Saint Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Have I missed something, why do so many think that Lambert should be or will be rested today? He has had a week off, why does he need a rest, agreed he looked out of sorts during January at times, probably result of the virus or whatever he had earlier. No sane manager would "rest" the league's top scorer before an important match that could define the rest of our season. I can understand resting Jaidi because he just isn't up to 3 games in a week and we have cover, but Rickie, no way. Agree, Lambert should start. As for Jaidi I am not sure he has been rested recently. I think he is a bench man with Fonte & Seaborne the preferred pairing from now on
Thedelldays Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 MUST WIN GAME again...they are pretty shyt..we have spent millions and have real league 1 quality in the team... 3-1 to saints
Glasgow_Saint Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 11 wins in 27. Needs to read 12 in 28 tonight or only JPT & Pompey game left this season.
SuperSAINT Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 3-1 to saints I miss our patented 3-1 away victories...
It's There Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 A MUST WIN Game, I feel, to help keep focus on playoffs- we don't want a bad start to a very important week!!! And NO injuries please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
VectisSaint Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Agree, Lambert should start. As for Jaidi I am not sure he has been rested recently. I think he is a bench man with Fonte & Seaborne the preferred pairing from now on Jaidi had his eye injury, agreed Fonte and Seaborne probably the first choice now, but aren't available for MK (Seaborne) or Pompey (both), hence Jaidi will be needed for them, I assume, unless Perry and/or Thomas are included. Personally would still pick Jaidi ahead of Dan given no other constraints.

Personally would still pick Jaidi ahead of Dan given no other constraints.I like Jaidi, a no nonsense centre back who has done no wrong, but I think Pardew likes the fact that Seaborne has a natural left foot and brings balance to the defence. As you say Seaborne is not available for the JPT so I expect Jaidi will come in for that and for Pompey Jaidi & Perry would be my pairing.

Weston Saint Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 jaidi and perry.. oh god..Have you actually watched them regularly? Perry has not has a bad game when he plays, he is intelligent, aware and, in the absence of our main two is the obvious choice. Jaidi I have already commented on.
SFC Forever Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 (edited) MUST WIN GAME again...they are pretty shyt..we have spent millions and have real league 1 quality in the team... 3-1 to saints This shyte team beat Leeds 2-0 so what does that make us? Edited 6 February, 2010 by SFC Forever
Thedelldays Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 This shyte team bear Leeds 2-0 so what does that make us? we beat man u 6-3 once...did that make us champions of england..? teams do win games..but I would like to think we should beat them..if beating leeds was the norm for them, they would not be down the bottom of the league
Thedelldays Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Have you actually watched them regularly? Perry has not has a bad game when he plays, he is intelligent, aware and, in the absence of our main two is the obvious choice. Jaidi I have already commented on. I was harsh... pompey are rubbish but what they do have is real pace up front....that will cause those two real trouble...
CB Fry Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 This shyte team beat Leeds 2-0 so what does that make us? Oh here we go. Nice to see the wets have their excuse ready sharpened already. They've beaten Leeds which means we have absolutley no chance. Oh, and I bet they had a really settled pre season as well. And where are Exeter in the league, they've-beaten-Leeds-and-everything-Exeter? Oh. 18th. Just 30 points worse off than Leeds who they are obviously better than. And 13 (real) points worse off than us. Why do people get so offended with thinking we should be beating teams in the L1 relegation mix? We should be.
gjphilsaint Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 almost a must win game for saints because this is our only league game for a while whilst many around us play 3 or 4 so we must nt lose ground when we do play.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Exeter's team is made up of freebies, lower league rejects and loans - only one player in the whole squad cost a fee and that fee was very minimal. Our team has cost millions - for that reason I expect no less than a win. 4-1 (I think)

I knew if I posted that last one I would get a response and I was corresct. C B Fry why on earth you would want an ex Pompey player as your name I don't know. Though I can hazard a good guess. At no time did I say that we didn't have a chance. TDD made a statement and I have to say that I gave one example of why I don't take that as gospel. You in your Pompey Blue have to have a go because I am a wet. congratulations. You know me so well yet we have never met. You are a mouthy abnoxious lttle toad but I don't want to go around telling everybody. You seem to be under the impression that we only have to step on the pitch and we will win. Wrong. We have failed to beat Stockport at theirs and they are bottom. We have failed to win when it should have been a doddle. I don't really care this season because we are so much better than last. Even though a league below. Now I am quite prepared to shout the boys home and even when losing still enjoy cheering them on. I do not like people who seem to feel everything they and their cronies say is fact according to the bible. So if you have nothing better to do maybe you should return your good name to the blue half of Hampshire.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 I said it last week and I'll say it again today, no 3 points = no chance of the playoffs in my opinion.
richardc Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 it should be -------------------davis otesemobor---fonte--seaborne--harding --antonio--morgan-puncheon--lallana ----------lambert----barnard
VectisSaint Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 I was harsh... pompey are rubbish but what they do have is real pace up front....that will cause those two real trouble... So what's the alternative? For Pompey you have to perm 2 from 3 of Jaidi, Perry and Thomas. And as Thomas is likely to play RB, think Jaidi and Perry is a given.

And as Thomas is likely to play RB, think Jaidi and Perry is a given. there is no alternative...but it is still an "oh god" moment.. two footballing OAPs against the pace of dindane and co... lets hope they continue to be shyt
SFC Forever Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 In this world we always have hope so a few prayers and you never know.
THEVMAN Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Davis Ostemobor Fonte Seaborne Harding Waigo Schneiderlin James Lallana Puncheon Barnard This is todays team but Lambert is up front
Thedelldays Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 This is todays team but Lambert is up front looks good to me...I would guess Puncheon and lallana will swap around
Tom28 Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Davis Otsemobor Fonte Seaborne Harding Antonio Morgan Lallana Puncheon Waigo Lambert Pardew would never play this team but it would be full of goals. Would love to see this line up today.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 This is the first game I've missed in 17 consecutive games I feel so lost.
mayo Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Davis Tomas Fonte Seabourne Harding Waigo Morgan James Lallana Puncheon Lambert Antionio is a great impact player if needed and I am not impressed with Otsemobor. He is no better then what we already had.
Weston Saint Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 This is todays team but Lambert is up frontGood team. Give my best to Henri and David
Weston Saint Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 looks good to me...I would guess Puncheon and lallana will swap around Expected Lallana to play on the left. Puncheon will play centre of midfield as the playmaker I am assuming
Thedelldays Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 with the player we have available..that looks like the best team IMO
Thedelldays Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Expected Lallana to play on the left. Puncheon will play centre of midfield as the playmaker I am assuming either way..looks really good...would like to think (apart from lambert) the 3 attacking players have a bit of movement about them..should cause a few problems
Leicestersaint Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Expected Lallana to play on the left. Puncheon will play centre of midfield as the playmaker I am assuming I thought Puncheon was a left winger?
Weston Saint Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 I thought Puncheon was a left winger? No he can play across the midfield. The suggestion last Saturday when I was at the ground was that Lallana would likely play on the left but it was an informed opinion at that time

To me this is all about whether this manager can actually pick a team from the multitude he has available. Hopefully Puncheon will turn out to be that missing link.
revolution saint Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Expected Lallana to play on the left. Puncheon will play centre of midfield as the playmaker I am assuming Puncheon will not play in the centre.
Matthew Le God Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Puncheon will not play in the centre. He played in the centre against Saints in the 1st leg of the JPT final.
dannysfc Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 This is the first game I've missed in 17 consecutive games I feel so lost. Yeh I am also Gutted that I could not go today as I've never been to Exeter's ground before and it would have been my first time there but I'l just listen to it on the radio and will have Soccer Saturday/Final Score On Too To Keep Me Updated Aswell ! But I will be at the MK Dons n the Pompey games though as I don't want to miss them for the world Tbh but there we go ! Come On Saints!
Weston Saint Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Puncheon will not play in the centre.OK let's see what happens. As I said it was only an informed opinion from the person I spoke to
revolution saint Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 OK let's see what happens. As I said it was only an informed opinion from the person I spoke to I'm willing to wait. Why would we play him in the centre though? Lallana can do that and has done that. He scored the majority of his goals this season when he moved inside. Puncheon has pace, can take a player on and can cross. Where do we need that? Wide left - it's a no brainer.

BARCELONASAINT Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Have they announced todays team news yet??
Matthew Le God Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Have they announced todays team news yet?? Yes
Victor Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Here we go. I knew if I posted that last one I would get a response and I was corresct. C B Fry why on earth you would want an ex Pompey player as your name I don't know. Though I can hazard a good guess. Sir Michael Channon - knighted for his services to Portsmouth Football Club.
Matthew Le God Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Team is.... Davis Otsemobor Fonte Seaborne Mills James Schneiderlin Puncheon Waigo Lallana Lambert
BARCELONASAINT Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Jesus , if we can't beat Exeter with that team out then we may as well go and sit in a dark corner and never come out again!!!
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 that looks a bloody good team tbf... Absolutely but one question why no Harding?
S-Clarke Posted 6 February, 2010 Posted 6 February, 2010 Absolutely but one question why no Harding? strange tbh, although mills has come in and has done a decent job - would be harsh to just drop him.
