We'll be holidaying in the UK again I think. Maybe Snowdonia and with the children and grandchildren. We had a great week in Dorset last year with them all.

But Mr TF and I will also have a week on our own somewhere - in the UK - but we haven't decided where. Somewhere with lots of local interest.

Alternatively we might consider a rail trip to somewhere in Europe.

Just seen your post Mike - so this will be of absolutely no interest to you whatsoever :D

Try Bulgaria....4 of us (family groups) have booked vllas with own pools sky etc for £350 for 2 weeks. Went there last year and had a great time. Throw in a cheap airfair and its great value. Had our 1st villa holiday 3 years ago and would never go back to Hotels or a complex. Try looking at Villa Owners direct web site.

I'm always on holiday.

I like to go away for two weeks work every year....

But seriously, this year Krakow (meet the GF's folks) with maybe a stopover with a mate in Zurich or son in Frakfurt

For the best vacation on the planet do a 10 day tour of Vietnam (sort of following the Top Gear route but end up in Hanoi)

Got back from Egypt (Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh) on Sunday.

Absolutley fantastic.

Great weather, Good food and drink, Fantstic snorkeling and scuba diving.

Stayed at a water park hotel called Aqua Blu.

Totally recommended.

Just been skiing in France, may go again in Austria in a couple of weeks. Might go to Sharm El Sheik again after the British Grand Prix and somewhere in the med after the Belgian Grand Prix.

If you're looking for good cheap sun Mike, try Sharm on http://www.teletextholidays.com very cheap deals, even at the last minute. Or you can get to the Canaries very cheap from Bristol. ;)

Cyprus. My olds have owned a couple of properties out there for about 8 years and I'm the only one in my entire family (extended family too, and their friends) that hasn't yet been. (Laziness, expense, passport issues etc etc)

This year though, my girlfriend and I will be jetting off to Paphos, as my Dad says he's selling up next year. Might as well enjoy it while they have it.

I reckon it should be law that people should take at least one UK holiday pe ryear.

Me and mrs h are off on the narrowboat at the end of this month, Allhallows at the end of March, narrowboat again with 2 x GK's and a spare cook again in May, hopefully Espana (Mijas) for a freebie at MIL's flat, St Ives in October. Plus a couple of City breaks in between.

btw Mike, my nipper managed to get 2 weeks in a Disney hotel, flights, and passes for 2 adults and two kids (11 and 7) for about £3,500. I think it is an obscene amount just to see a six foot man in a mouse costume but apparently it's a good deal!

Orlando in March in a villa with all the family.

Got a cheap all inclusive deal for Egypt in October, hope it's good as never been before. Got £500 knocked off the web price by going in to TC, thought the web was always cheaper?

Will try and get a last minute deal for a caravan or cottage in the summer hols as we like to stay at home then. Had a lovely place in Burley last year.

Malta for me & the missus. Love the place - the people - and the sun!

Just got back last night. Fantastic time and place. Will certainly go again.

Planning on going to a showjumping competition with the family in Germany at the end of July followed by a sailing competition in Lage Garda in August.

Jammy bugger!

Went there year before last & had a fab time. Hired a car for the whole duration & took it across to Gozo for the day. Wonderful island. Boat trips a-plenty. I love the mix in Malta of old & new - the buildings, etc.

My old man was stationed there in the RN many years ago I was born there in the military hospital at Mtarfa. I therefore have a Maltese and a British birth certificates. Not sure why I am therefore living here in the UK?!?!

I like the fact that you can go into a perfectly ordinary, even down-market bar for a few glasses of Cisk without realising that you are sitting in somewhere built by the Knights five hundred years ago. If it were in the UK, it would have barbed wire around it and English Heritage would charge you a fortune just to look inside whilst letting it fall to pieces.

Buildings are living things and need to be used.

Indeed. And a few parts of Malta look like the Luftwaffe had just paid them a visit the day before rather than 60-odd years ago! But that's why I love the place. It's 'honest' - and doesn't pretend to be something it's not. The people are very proud & friendly and everyone I met went out of their way for you. As well as old British connections - It's got a good sprinkling of Italian & North African influence (especially restaurant-wise) and I loved my day visit to the WWII museum/caves that the inhabitants sheltered in during the war. Marvellous!

Oh I'm so very jealous! We've done loads of narrow boating - most of the canals in the UK and the Canal du Midi a couple of years ago too.

Which canal(s) do you do? I think my favourite is the Llangollen canal but I have a very soft spot for the Oxford canal - the first one we ever did when the children were little.

My holiday this year is oging to be my honeymoon.

We are going to be going to Paris and Rome. Does anyone have any recomendations of any good hotels in either city?

Do you know when, and in which parts of the city you would prefer to stay? I have contacts in both who can advise me.
