Crab Lungs Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 I thought this thread could be justified as a 'branch off' the other 'this shirt is yours thread' http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4884757.Flybe_ends_Saints_sponsorship_deal/?ref=rss “The sponsorship deal between Flybe and Southampton has proved a very beneficial partnership. The four years have been a real rollercoaster ride that have seen the Saints experience the highs and lows and it’s been an honour to have been the club sponsor during this time. “We know the club were very grateful for the way we stood by them at the end of last season and provided commercial stability amongst their sponsors, and as a result we are parting on very amicable terms with Southampton and leave the club in a good position – solvent and with an exciting future under the new owners. “Since the decision has been taken, Flybe have worked closely with the club to help them source a new sponsor and fully intend to continue supporting the club in whatever way we can over the next few years.” Bloody hell... he makes it sound like they saved the club :-o

Seems strange they would do that. I wonder who we will get?
do i not like fizzy pop Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 If anything it relating to Markus it would have to be MALI Group
John B Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 I Dont think that Putting anything relating to ML's companies on the Shirt is going to increase their sales or assist in corporate entertainment.
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 We have to remember the club is run as a business, and as such willl be looking for a good corporate sponsor that is benefical to both!
Nineteen Canteen Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 we have to remember the club is run as a business, and as such willl be looking for a good corporate sponsor that is benefical to both! bwin ?
John B Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 There is no point surely in getting a Sponsor whilst we are in League 1 better until we are in the CCC when possibly we can get a better deal. By the way what is the cost of a shirt these days a lot will be sold next year
Wes Tender Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 I don't really see the need for another thread on this. But it could be that unless proven otherwise, the Echo might have misreported it, as somebody said that the Flybe sponsorship was due to end by the close of this season anyway. So it might be more accurate to state that they are not renewing the sponsorship, but not that they have ended it when it will be expiring. Also not clear from the other thread, is whether it will just be these special anniversary shirts that will be without a sponsor's name, or whether it is also other kit items. And I'm sure that we probably don't require Flybe's assistance in finding a sponsor if we want one. The people running our club are plenty high-powered enough to have the contacts I would expect.
Matthew Le God Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 Until Dell computers are are emblazoned across Saints shirts I won't be happy.
ericofarabia Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 Job*hite will probably be looking for a team to sponsor in a few weeks .... not that I'd touch them with a barge pole
Matthew Le God Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 There is no point surely in getting a Sponsor whilst we are in League 1 better until we are in the CCC when possibly we can get a better deal. All sponsorship deals would have clauses in them. If the team goes up then the company would have to pay accordingly.
John B Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 All sponsorship deals would have clauses in them. If the team goes up then the company would have to pay accordingly. Yes but the bigger sponsors may not be interested in League 1 Clubs
The Cat Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 Can it be a charity please. We don't need to whore ourselves out to some faceless corporate group who have no links to the club other than trying to extend their brand image on the back of our future success. I might even buy a shirt then. No way am I walking round advertising a company on the front of a shirt which has cost £40 or so.
Matthew Le God Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 Most appropriate shirt sponsor... If Carlsberg did football club owners
DT Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 always thought this lot would make a good sponsor: http://www.saints.co.uk/ Freight company. Keep seeing them on the motorway and mistaking them for merchandise deliveries...
krissyboy31 Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 No way am I walking round advertising a company on the front of a shirt which has cost £40 or so. Funny peoples views on this after so many years of having shirt sponsors. Me, I'd prefer to have the chance of buying replica's without shirt sponsor, even if the playing shirts have them but I'm not fussed either way. I do dislike the white plastic panel Flybe logo though and only bought the current shirt towards the end of last season when I seriously thought we were going out of business. Up here, Hull Kingston Rovers new main sponsor is Sporting Bet and kids shirts are not allowed to carry the sponsor's logo due to gambling rules (I think Forest is similar with Victor Chandler). One of our neighbours bought their grandson an HKR shirt for Christmas but instead of getting him a 'Youths' they got him a 'Small Ladies' because they were adamant they wanted the sponsor on the shirt (to look like the team).
Toadhall Saint Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 If we don't need a sponsor as such (we probably will tho') then it should be a large charity ala Barca with UNICEF.
paulwantsapint Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 Like the idea of a local charity name like what Villa done idealy ML will start his own
Chez Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 I presue that means the removal of the infamous blue seats at SMS
SNSUN Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 (edited) Ok, I got beat to tha haulage company. So... Edited 2 February, 2010 by SNSUN
Psycrow Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 Most appropriate shirt sponsor... If Carlsberg did football club owners It wasn't funny on the other thread either
Barfy Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 always thought this lot would make a good sponsor: http://www.saints.co.uk/ Freight company. Keep seeing them on the motorway and mistaking them for merchandise deliveries... I see so many of those on the roads that for a while I was on the hunt for a nationwide network of Saints Megastores.
Professor Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 It has been very impressive that for the last few seasons the shirt sponser has arranged for aircraft to fly over the ground during matches with the shirt logo on the planes.
LVSaint Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 It has been very impressive that for the last few seasons the shirt sponser has arranged for aircraft to fly over the ground during matches with the shirt logo on the planes. Shame. Was the best looking sponsor we've had in a while IMO. We should try to avoid a deal with Instituto de Estudos Orientais.....
Michelle Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 I presue that means the removal of the infamous blue seats at SMS We have no blue seats. They're purple.
Massimo Osti Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 Just said on the news we will have no sponser on the shirt next season.. Club to do a 125 year shirt.
Legod Third Coming Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 Just said on the news we will have no sponser on the shirt next season.. Club to do a 125 year shirt. Bet that comes with some pretty stringent washing instructions then.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 always thought this lot would make a good sponsor: http://www.saints.co.uk/ Freight company. Keep seeing them on the motorway and mistaking them for merchandise deliveries... Haha - I thought I was seeing things when I first caught sight of those trucks too! Glad I'm not the only one.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 We have no blue seats. They're purple. Even so, it's an interesting question. With Flybe-night gone, will we see a replacement of the seats that spell their name?
so22saint Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 Just said on the news we will have no sponser on the shirt next season.. Club to do a 125 year shirt. It's official - no sponsor next season! http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1952533,00.html
Matthew Le God Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 Even so, it's an interesting question. With Flybe-night gone, will we see a replacement of the seats that spell their name? Of course they will remove them. Just as they did in the past with Friends Provident. Otherwise it is just free advertising.
stockportsaint Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 I reckon our sponsor will be Nicks Restaurant Greasy Nick's on East Street? - used to go in there for lunch when I worked at Yellow Pages next to Debenhams, back in the late 80s. Is it still going?
Legod Third Coming Posted 2 February, 2010 Posted 2 February, 2010 Of course they will remove them. Just as they did in the past with Friends Provident. Otherwise it is just free advertising. Terracing? Thank the Lord!!!!!!!
Saint Fan CaM Posted 3 February, 2010 Posted 3 February, 2010 Terracing? Thank the Lord!!!!!!! LOL - you beat me to it.
