hamster Posted 1 February, 2010 Share Posted 1 February, 2010 I would love to go. can you let me know if; it is reserved seating, can I book to 'dine' too, do they sell decent beer, and finally is there a discount room rate for people attending the show? hamster Posted 1 February, 2010 Share Posted 1 February, 2010 The Dimbleby lecture on right now is being given by terry Pratchett, himself an Alzheimers sufferer. Worth a watch by anyone remotoely interested in the condition/illness. A ruthless condition that deserves many many more millions thrown at it's treatment and research from the public purse. Not in my own humble opinion, this is FACT.
Nineteen Canteen Posted 2 February, 2010 Share Posted 2 February, 2010 Apparently he does a very good Chris Tarrant impression. A very worthy cause and people who prefer not to attend but still want to donate how do they do that?

Nineteen Canteen Posted 2 February, 2010 Share Posted 2 February, 2010 Yes he does, He normally gets someone out the Audience and use's their phone to ring someone and pretend they are the phone and friend. That must have been amusing when 'millionaire' was popular although watching an entertainer do his 'normally' isn't quite the same as watching a band perform one of your favourite songs. Thanks for the justgiving link Cavey and I will make a donation, Leon and Hollie deserve it going through this torture and climbing Kilimanjaro. The Alzheimer's Society do a lot of great work and deserve to have a greater support and a higher profile as other diseases have in this country like Heart Disease and Cancer. EDIT - I assumed this was a joke about the show. If it in fact was a reference to someone suffering from Alzheimer's then I withdraw the laughs. No offence intended. Nineteen Canteen Posted 25 February, 2010 Share Posted 25 February, 2010 EDIT - I assumed this was a joke about the show. If it in fact was a reference to someone suffering from Alzheimer's then I withdraw the laughs. No offence intended. You assume correctly, pity because Alzheimer's is a charity close to my heart (My father was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers and passed away in the latter stages of the disease with an unrelated condition) but I would need to be in the latter stages of the disease before I agreed to attend an 'Evening with Mike Osman'. Can't imagine Jimmy Carr giving out the phone number for ticket details to unknown individuals who have expressed a mild interest in going to one of his 'gigs' or even the Krankies. I can only assume ticket sales are not going well which is a pity as 450 tickets @10 the Alzeimers Society could do with every penny of the potential £4,500. To all those who would prefer to join Leon on the mountain than attend with Exit2 please login to Leon's just giving website and give up a few quid to what is a very worthy cause. There aren't many illnesses where the person you love fades and dies before eyes and then stays alive and becomes more demanding on your life than a new born baby and usually at a time when life should be about freedom and contentment for those left to look after them. http://www.justgiving.com/Leon-Robbins
