Kingsland Red Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 I know like me, fellow Saintsweb members seek out Liebherr Cranes in our travelling around. Reading the Dudley Brazier obituary in the Echo Business section I quote: " In the 1950s Brazier & Son Ltd built many of the shops in Southampton city centre.... and were the first to use a huge tower crane on a Southampton construction site in 1959 which attracted much interest. The Liebherr crane was shipped over from Germany for the Marlands Development".
Shroppie Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 Don't know about cranes but I'm very pleased with my Liebherr fridge
St Landrew Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 But it's not our Liebherr, KR. He isn't part of the family firm. He's the owner of Mali Group. http://www.mali-group.com/index.php?/en If you drive a modern diesel, you probably have some of his technology in the engine.
Secret Site Agent Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 I was hoping to use a Liebheer LTM 1080 for the crane lift I have planned for the 12th Feb, but I am stuck with a Tandano, whihc is only offset by the fact that the ECU in both plus the Excavator I have on site are manufactured by the company MALI Bodensee Steuergeräte GmbH.
Black Sea Saint Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 I was pleased to point one out to the missus here in Seoul yesterday

jimmysaint7 Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 Dont spoil our fun St L !! he was but gave his shares up
exit2 Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 I looked out of my office window yesterday and one of the grain ships on dock head was using a Liebherr Crane, but you just have to look at DP World to see lots of them
gjphilsaint Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 (edited) crane was used in July 09 on former Expo site in Lisbon on Spinny Tower lookalike. link. http://www.planetware.com/picture/lisbon-nations-park-expo-98-site-p-por214.htm Edited 1 February, 2010 by gjphilsaint went to find link and added when done.
Meathead Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 Channel 5 now is showing construction of the worlds largest truck, and it just happens to be a Liebherr truck. Pretty impresive engineering, if your interested.
Meathead Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 Oops its just finished. Good program though if you like that sort of thing. Its called "How do they do it" and probably repeated again somewhere.
Secret Site Agent Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 If we go to Wembly this year, (or is that WHEN) we should club together and get a Liebherr crane and paint it Red and White. My favorite would be the LTM 1500-8.1. 500 tonne maximum lift at 3m radius. 108m radius with a luffing jib. Comes with a service and diagnostic LISSy system and LICCON work planner. She's a beast, but she's still a mobile all terrain crane. And you can't get her in blue, neither.
explorer saint Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 Passed 3 cranes at the M3 Bagshot juction the day after the takeover now that did make me feel good, even had time to have a good look as couldn't go any faster than 30!

petts Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 They make the cranes just down the road from me, looks pretty cool sometimes when there are a few out by the river, though they're all yellow.
Julian H. Cope Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 Cranes are ****. I agree, they are sh*t.
hutch Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 I had my first ever job interview with Brazier in 1974. Barstewards turned me down. RIP nevertheless.
oxfordshire_saint Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 Pah, I've driven down the Hans Liebherr (Markus' Dad, founder of the company) Strasse in Lindenberg im Allgau in Southern Germany whilst lost on holiday.
'dover Saint Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 Saw some Liebherr heavy plant thing (ie not a crane) whilst stuck in the nightmare roadworks on the M25 the other week (round about J17-if anyone else wants to look out for it!). Gave me a smile in an otherwise infurating 3 hour trip back to Hampshire!
Mr_Red Posted 1 February, 2010 Posted 1 February, 2010 There are a few Liebherr concrete wagons around Weston Sur La Mer right now... Always raises a smile in an otherwise dull place.
Kingsland Red Posted 2 February, 2010 Author Posted 2 February, 2010 So skeptics, who would have thought this time last year that we would become crane spotters, bizarre but true. Thanks ML. COYR !!!
