Why so many negative posters?

I'm really enjoying this season.

I used to sit down on a matchday with shoulders slumped and then slink off around the house waiting for the "how many did they lose by today?" line.

Now it is "I suppose you won again", (which to be fair we have been doing a great deal).

It is a change in attitude, it is something that has helped to give a more positive outlook to my world this year.

Should we be in the playoff's already though? The answer from the less positives is "yes we bloody well should be especially after all the money we've spent".

It is a valid point, but if money was the only factor in football then why aren't Man City 6 points clear at the top of the PL?

Football is a team game, it takes time to settle and understand each other, our team wasn't built until 3 or 4 weeks into the season, so they missed the bedding in process of pre-season and took time to settle. That as much as anything was to blame, not the lack of pre-season per se.

Leeds have taken 3 seasons to get their act together fully, we tried to do it in 3/4 of a season.

Anyway, I didn't expect to go up this year, I felt we had an outside chance of reaching the playoffs. The fact is, here we are at the beginning of February and lo and behold - we have an outside chance of reaching the playoffs.

BUT, I do have one REALLY big piece of worry/negativity which has never been discussed.

Just how are we getting the money from Markus?

As we are now a private business, we KNOW ML is "loaded", we know he is committed to a plan. BUT is he transferring CASH into the club to buy the players, develop Staplewood? OR is he "Guaranteeing Loans?"

Is the money he is putting in being done as Equity expansion? OR is it being done as some form of shorter term Loans?

Right NOW how he is doing this doesn't matter a flying fig, BUT technically if the investment isn't equity then it is shorter term debt of one form or another that could become due for repayment.

Providing we make the PL, then ML gets his money back with interest big time should he decide to then sell out.

But if he doesn't, then although we can sleep easy about where he made his money, we could be back in debt....

It nags me, it doesn't make me negative, but many other fans at many other clubs never questioned how the money was coming in from their "beneficial owners" until it was too late.

Thing is, we'll probably never know, and TBH as long as we do go up this year or next, it won't be something to lose sleep or post negatively about.

For me, football is a journey to be enjoyed.

We have just re-started our journey in the right direction. I am in no great hurry to get to the PL, I want to enjoy the scenery along the way.

JPT Winners (2010)

League 1 Champions (2011)

Carling Cup Winners (2012)

Championship Champions (2013)

FA CUP Winners (2014)

Qualify for Europe (2015)

Whats the hurry?

;)

I for one have enjoyed the progress made this season. We have a club, team and supporters that are the envy of most other clubs. Our future is secure, our owner is committed, our chairman is innovative, our manager is doing well and our team is improving. Bloody fantastic!

Please can the terribly negative posters come on board? If I didn't know I would think we were describing events 12 months ago when the Dark Lord was still there and we had a team of kids nose diving out of existence. The times they are a changin'.

Let's all enjoy the progress we have made and see how far we can go this season. I will continue to dream of 3 Wembley appearances and promotion!!! Imagine that and then think of where we were heading!

Please lets stick together and stop this negative crap. As has been posted elsewhere we have won 18 of the last 25, are unbeaten this year, a game away from Wembley, and have Pompey at home in the FA Cup - fantastic!!

What a load of Cobblers !

It has been the optimists not pessimists that have been responsible for all the evils of the world throughout history and if they were all rounded up and shot tomorrow (as I optimistically advocate) then our little blue planet would not only be a saner more realistic place for us all , but perversely it would also be a rather happier one as well . Embrace your negativity , welcome the pessimist - you know it makes sense .

George Bush and Tony Blair are optimists - end of .

I suppose I can be classed as one of the negative posters.

whilst I am happy to have a club and a team that has improved. I am disturbed by the number of players that have been brought in without seeing the one that I feel we need more than any. A midfield player that can tackle pass and shoot and is not as static as Wotton. I am also concerned with some of our team selections and substitutions during matches.

I am sorry if my concerns are against the views of the majority bit lie I will not.

That is not negative I would have thought pretty positive and realistic.

Suggesting that things need to get better is clearly better than accepting performances which are not good.

Things are obviously getting better at SFC but things are not good on the pitch at the moment to suggest that we will be promoted this season or get automatic promotion next.

Hopefully with the new players things will improve and promotion will be achieved soon - I still think having a five year plan puts increased pressure on everybody.

Ah yes, but what happens if you are a Realist?

You can still be an optimistic realist OR a pessimistic realist. But whichever version you are you work much harder to make sure you get the right outcome, it's different from being a blind Dubya.

It was disapointing that a few people gave a very negative 'welcome' to some of the new signings but overall most of us are all enjoying the positives this season.

There will still be good times and bad times ahead but the fun in football is the trying and the expectation, punctuated by the occasional success!

What I find so baffling is that success seems to now come so easy to some of our posters. They forget that for long periods - not just now but at the start of WGS' tenure - we could not buy a win!!!

That is why I find it difficult to believe that we were getting to the play offs this season.

Eventually we will get promoted

And these people call themselves the positive posters - no preseason, we're doomed[

It's not just no pre-season though is it, its no pre-season, a -10 pts deduction, the sale of our best players from last year, administration during the summer the total destruction of the clubs back room staff and scouting network. No other team in league one had this much crap to deal with this year. Only Stockport come close and look where they are.

The huge back room staff you talk off we're still being assembled after the season started, most of the players above our station (who the hell is that anyway? only one is prehaps to good for us and that's Fonte) were signed in the last few weeks not in August. Attendances mean squat plenty of clubs in higher leagues have smaller attendances than us but they are still doing better than us. Oh and Barnard maybe one of the top scorers in the league but his only played for us a week and has yet to score so wouldn't have help our slow start to the season. No pre-season isn't effecting us now, but it did effect us for the first ten games or so, the result being the poor start gave us to much to do to get promotion this year.

footballing megagiants like Swindon and Millwall -

Another poster who seems to think that just being saints makes us better than the teams around us were in League one for a reason, our days of being a "big club" are over (for know) learn to deal with it.

Thank god we've got positive people like you, eh?

So, we're no bigger than Swindon and Millwall and all our players our manager has signed aren't good enough. And the thousands turning up for every match are wasting their time because it all means squat.

We are a bigger football club than Swindon and Millwall. Learn to deal with it because we are.

What a barrell of laughs you are. Stay positive, won't you

Can't you focus on those posters who are positive? Why do you have to be so negative? Yes, we have some negative posters, but we also have lots of positive ones. When was the last time you started a thread saying "Well done all the positive posters!"? I don't recall seeing one.

I would suggest that it is easy to start a negative thread.....as you have proved. You are just as negative as the other negative posters, probably more negative.

Yeah thats what I said maybe you should try reading the post next time:rolleyes:

Ummmmm were are Swindon and Millwall compared to us in the league? How did they get above us in the table? Oh thats right they've won more games then us. So next time some poster comes on crying that we should beat Swindon or Millwall they're so **** we're so much better than them. Maybe they should look at the league table. It's the we're a big club mentality the cause people like you to get so ****ed off. Maybe if people gave teams like Swindon and Millwall a bit more respect they wouldn't get so upset when we don't thrash them six nil like some on here think we should every match.

Having said that I'm pretty positive about us this season becuase I expected much worse this year so I'm happy with the way things are going:) From your posts I assume your not happy with this season?

I am delighted with Saints progress this season. Pardew said his target was mid table by Christmas and push on from there. this has been achieved and we are still in 2 out of 3 cup competitions.we've strengthened our squad in januray and I dont think many saints fans would say they were unhappy with our progress.

I just think there are some people who just post certain things to provoke a reaction, nothing more, nothing less. I doubt they actually mean what they say half of the time.

this is IMHO true, but in all fairness what would a discussion forum be without an opposite point of view. I know I wouldn't visit the site as much (& parted with cash) if it was all happy clappy. It is unfortunate that sometimes posters cant reply with anything other than childish snipes. I can't understand why people haven't learned not to feed trolls.

Automatic promotion next season or we have failed IMO

And no doubt many of the happy clappers would agree too.

Don't worry. There will be an excuse next season.

If were are not top 6 this time next year (probably top 2) I think there will be 3 groups...

1... Pardew Out, (& everyone else if a fortune hasn't been spent)

2... Give the time, they've been unlucky, give the till the end of the season & hope for the playoffs, no need to change things until the summer.

3... everything is sound, there's no problem IN ML, NC & AP WE TRUST get behind the team.

.........Another poster who seems to think that just being saints makes us better than the teams around us were in League one for a reason, our days of being a "big club" are over (for know) learn to deal with it.

Do you remember when we were to big for the CCC... we were going to walk it.
