what is -8..?

When Paul Lambert took over Norwich they had played 3 games (LLD) so had 1 point. Charlton and Leeds had 9.

Lambert therefore started on -8

Norwich are now clear at the top 30 points ahead of us.

Good going when you consider Lambert had a very similar handicap to AP.

Also relevant that Lambert has spent a fraction of what AP has spent (cue folk saying the Norwich squad was already amazing - U's 7 Norwich 1 anyone?)

+ Lambert had no pre-season. AP had some

good team as in equal to us last season..?

unless wotte did a very good job to inflate the ability of the squad..?

Yep the same Norwich that were p1ss poor like us last season, were suddenly full of the winning mentality, brimming with confidence and destined for an instant return to CCC.

We made the mistake of having a 5 year plan - there plan was just be good straight away.

That is the crux of the matter. They haven't needed to change practically their entire squads as we have.

You do know Norwich signed around 10 players in the summer don't you?

We are not doing well because we have changed so many players "time to gel bla bla bla"

But now they are doing well (very well) because they changed so many players?

Im confused.

Jens Berthel Askou (Kasımpasa), Goran Maric (Celta Vigo), Rhoys Wiggins (Crystal Palace), Simon Whaley (Preston), Ben Alnwick (Tottenham), Grant Holt (Shrewsbury), Paul McVeigh (Luton), Stephen Hughes (Motherwell), Michael Theoklito (Melbourne Victory), Michael Nelson (Hartlepool), Owain Tudur Jones (Swansea), Matthew Gill (Exeter), Fraser Forster (Newcastle)

Bit of a head start!

yes....ironic isnt it...

new manager, new players, no pre season, top of the league

Where are you getting the no pre season from? Those new players all had time to play together BEFORE the season started.

We started bringing our new players in about a week before the season started.

someone else has said they have kept the same team from last year..?

im now lost here...which is it..

to be honest, I just think the excuses are too easy to use for our average league form

He is partly right - they didn't need to change their entire squad with very little time left in pre-season. They had the whole summer.

No, the REASON (not excuse) for our EARLY poor league form was that around 85% of our pre-season was wasted because we had no idea what our future held.

Surely you must be able to see that the team AND results have improved?

Yes but Lambert wasnt the manager in the summer - he had no pre-season.

& started -8

We are not talking about the managers, we are talking about the players.

But obviously that doesn't fit in with the point you are trying to make about Pardew not being up to the job.

AP had more pre-season prep time than Lambert did @ Norwich. Loads more

But we are not talking about the managers, how many times do I need to say it.

The players at Norwich knew each other.

The players at Southampton didn't.

did they..?

In: Micheal Theoklitis (free, Melbourne Victory), Owain Tudur-Jones (undisclosed, Swansea City), Micheal Nelson (free, Hartlepool United), Matthew Gill (free, Exeter City), Stephen Hughes (free, Motherwell), Ben Alnwick (loan, Tottenham Hotspur), Grant Holt (undisclosed, Shrewsbury Town), Rhoys Wiggins (undisclosed, Crystal Palace), Simon Whaley (undislcosed, Preston North End), Jens Berthel Askou (free, Unattatched), Goran Maric (free, Celta Vigo), Fraser Forster (loan, Newcastle United)

no gelling time..?

Jesus, are you even reading what i'm saying?

Norwich brought those players in over the whole of the summer.

We brought our players in over the last couple of weeks of the summer, and the first few weeks of the season.

You mean enough to get in the play-offs? Well unfortunately to do that we would have needed title winning form. Pre-january we had some major weaknesses in our side, so we were never going to have that kind of form.

Yep good point I do agree with that. We did have a few weaknesses, we would have got away with it too if it wasnt for every team in L1 being amazing.

Damn the L1 teams and all there superstars.

how long does it take for players to gel..?

6 games..10 games..?

10 games seems to be a magic number for some reason

So you're saying AP got to choose his players, while Lambert had to work with what he was given?

Are you Paul Lambert? If not why are you kissing his ass so much?

Well not all of them anyway, although our for our first game of the season

we had only 2 new players on the match sheet.

To me,and I'm sorry to keep on harping on about this, our biggest mistake was to start with Perry and Thomas at the back and to rely on the nucleus of strikers that couldn't score a goal against a tyro league side last season. When you have "international strikers" at your disposal you expect them to score in League 1, AP fell into this trap.Mind you if he'd scanned a few of last seasons match reaction threads he'd have been immediately much wiser about it.Also the crass substitutions at Huddersfield.

3 people have this opinon, think you need to accept a mixture of Delldays opinion and his trolling.

Not heard anyone at the games saying Pardew is underperforming - just two or three on here

just agreeing with our manager in that we should be winning more than we are....and that our quality has not come through of late

do you think pardew is a troll...?

pardew wants to e good now..not rubbish now and good in 3 years time...

the club, the manager, the chairman want instant success....you and a few others seem to be scared of it and have a pop at those who demand it..

strange that my views are far closer to pardew than yours appear to be

He's not underperforming now, but he did at the start of the season. I'm sure that it was made aware to him.I heard (and only heard, have no evidence mind you) that after the defeat against Bristol Rovers there was a major set to between the management and the coaching staff.Arses were kicked very hard apparently.

not seen him posting cr*p on here or making up quotes.

We need to win more than the last couple of weeks to get to play offs, prior to last few weeks the performance was good enough.

As soon as we lose or draw one game you can always say we need to win more.

If we keep averaging over two points a game he will have done well - with the cups as well.
