Window Cleaner Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 Ipswhich Brentford Stockport Make that three. We do have to give him more time but he has missed some good chances which is a worry. But we have better-Papa-who is probably 5 times the player that Barnard is.
WATERSIDEIFASAINT Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 Hopefully we will have a few players back next week like Connelly,Hammond & James.Murty can't be far off being fit now and we've got Puncheon to add to the midfield. So hopefully we can only get stronger from here. Thought we could **** it up today after the 1st half so relieved with the win.
S-Clarke Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 3 points, job done. 11th our highest position of the season? 13 points off the 6th placed team..but we have a game or 2 on hand of most of the top 6.
ericofarabia Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 We'll certainly need to up the ante in our next 2 home games in The Cups if we are to progress in either. A shabby performance like todays against Skatesmuff would be unbearable
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 why have we just paid money for Barnard then? We have Papa and Connolly and now we need a bloke from Crawley. Smacks of impulsive spending if you ask me..Barnard that is. Yep, paying 175k for the 2nd highest scorer in this division. Sounds impulsive to me. Even removing him from rivals teams is worth it for that amount of money. We are trying to build a SQUAD here people, there are a load of players out at the end of the season as end of contract, and I think our team looks well balanced now. We struggled without Hammond, as I've said previously I really do believe he's our most important player.

jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 Danns still a transfer target for AP...according to Solent AP quoted on OS saying he has finished in the transfer market.
Window Cleaner Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 AP quoted on OS saying he has finished in the transfer market. take it up with Solent then, they said Danns scored goals today and that he was still a target
SO16_Saint Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 Danns still a transfer target for AP...according to Solent WTF? Thought the OS said 'thats it' this AM? Happy Days if so, though!!
ericofarabia Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 3 points, job done. 11th our highest position of the season? 13 points off the 6th placed team..but we have a game or 2 on hand of most of the top 6. Of the 6 teams directly above us chasing the 6th spot, only Millwall and MK Dons have played more
trousers Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 (edited) AP quoted on OS saying he has finished in the transfer market. Double bluff? Say you're not interested then putn last minute 'too good to refuse' bid? Edited 30 January, 2010 by trousers
hutch Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 21 points from the last 10 league games. Keep that up and we will be there or thereabouts
.comsaint Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 take it up with Solent then, they said Danns scored goals today and that he was still a target Danns scored both of Palace's goals today in their 2-0 win over Peterborough.
trombonist1 Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 just proves that the subs really make a difference... glad AP seems to know what to do with them :-D
St Landrew Posted 30 January, 2010 Author Posted 30 January, 2010 So the question is, does Pardew start with Papa Waigo or play him as a super-sub..?
Leslie Charteris Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 AP has assembled a good squad, now he has to put together a good team. 3 points and a clean sheet isn't a bad start - onwards and upwards!
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 how many players are out of contract in the summer...someone mentioned there is a few on another thread..? Not too sure exactly, so let's list the squad at the end of the season, plus potential out of contracts... GK: Davis \ Bialkowski \ Forecast DR: James \ Otsemobor (OoC) DL: Harding \ Mills DC: Jaidi \ Fonte \ Seabourne \ Lancashire \ Perry (OoC?) \ Thomas (OoC?) ML: Holmes (OoC?), Puncheon MR: Antonio (OoC) \ Waigo (OoC) \ Thompson MC: Schneiderlin \ Hammond \ Lallana \ Gillett (OoC?) \ Wotton (OoC?) FW: Lambert \ Connolly \ Barnard All I can think of off the top of my head, any more?
ericofarabia Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 So the question is, does Pardew start with Papa Waigo or play him as a super-sub..? Sounds like the same converstion at Bomo with Fletcher ... comes on and scores, but zilch when he starts. At least we have the option of either having Papa or Antonio starting and the other in the wings ready for the super sub cameo
Redondo Saint Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 Nice to grind one out and keep a clean sheet. (Danns scored twice for Palace). What are you talking about?
Thedelldays Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 Not too sure exactly, so let's list the squad at the end of the season, plus potential out of contracts... I really think he will sign up antonio...even more so as he will be free
theyin Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 when was the last time we played well? I know a win's a win but we've always been known for a certain style. Now I don't get to go all that much but from what I read, it sounds dreadful
ericofarabia Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 no more in, no-one out... AP Solent still playing the conspiracy card and think that when he said no more signings he wasn't being totally truthful
Window Cleaner Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 Solent still playing the conspiracy card and think that when he said no more signings he wasn't being totally truthful I heard him he said a straightforward no..no nuances,no bullsh*t, just no.
croome Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 Can anyone tell me why lallana didnt even make sub?
Window Cleaner Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 Can anyone tell me why lallana didnt even make sub? injured hip/groin
ericofarabia Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 LOL at Spiderman saying 'The Gaffer' .... with his outrageous French accent it's hilarious ... It gets even better ... about papa ... 'he done great' ... listening to too many Brits
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 imo... murty perry waigo gillet molly pulis forcast will be let go.. I really think he will sign up antonio...even more so as he will be free Didn't really count Molyneux and Pulis, but yes, those 2 out as well too. Thomas will be let go too. I'd like to keep Waigo too, as an impact player. Antonio would be a good starter \ squad player. Looks a little short at RB, MC, but pretty good with room for a couple of good signings next season. Squad definitely not saturated for next season.
St Landrew Posted 30 January, 2010 Author Posted 30 January, 2010 Morgan Schneiderlin, while interpreting for Papa Waigo - le gaffeur [the gaffer]
ericofarabia Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 I heard him he said a straightforward no..no nuances,no bullsh*t, just no. So did i, but it will give The Echo a story I guess, being able to quote Radio Solent
ericofarabia Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 And in case you're wondering, its "hors-jeu":confused::confused: Sounds right dodgy
Thedelldays Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 And in case you're wondering, its "hors-jeu" horse jaw...? how do you know about these..?
ericofarabia Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 And in case you're wondering, its "hors-jeu" The money owed by Avram ?
AndyD Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 happy to be in top half - and still believe we can get 6th! if not this season, next season - potential champions!
Window Cleaner Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 Morgan Schneiderlin, while interpreting for Papa Waigo - le gaffeur [the gaffer] whereas le gaffeur means some-one who makes a lot of gaffs.A blunderer . We even have a TV presenter called Vincent LeGaffe and Gaston Lagaff is a sort of Andy Capp cartoon character
hutch Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 horse jaw...? how do you know about these..? Spend too much time in Senegal. Off to Dakar again on Wednesday.
St Landrew Posted 30 January, 2010 Author Posted 30 January, 2010 Puncheon on Solent. Neil Warnock says there has been a £600,000 offer for Danns from Saints, but dismisses it.
saint_stevo Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 good win, poor performance. Barnard looks off the pace
Weston Saint Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 Let's just say the first 60 minutes of the game was the worse I have seen this season. We weren't just poor we were bloody diabolical When Waigo came on everything changed. He was by far MOM. Pace, skill, visionary, cross runs totally confusing the opposition. This was not an inspired substitution by Pardew, it was a major mistake he did not start When he came on Schneiderlin started playing because he had an outlet. Holmes started playing because he was inspired by Waigo's movement and space. As for Wotton, he was the poorest player on the pitch and actually caused our midfield to be non existant and provide no service, movement or skill. Fonte and Seaborne were excellent. Looks like we have a great buy in Seaborne. Fonte is of course class. Worried about our midfield but with Puncheon soon to play it can only improve. As for Lallana, injured his hip in training yesterday and failed a medical today. Rested ntil Wednesday and they will look at him. Hopes to be fit for Exeter.
St Marco Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 Just back Bit of a meh game to be honest. Stockport came for a draw and didn't really make any real threat. They had a lot of corners from nothing but if i counted right had about 3 or 4 shots the entire game, Kelvin had nothing to do. 1st half was just boring as hell, by far the worst half i have seen this season. Both sides were just passing it about and creating next to nothing. The players seemed nervey and made a lot of mistakes. I felt that Wotten and Morgan was not working, Wotten made the most mistakes and really have to say their chances came from feck up's by him. The only player who seemed to be creative was Antonio who tried to lift the players by trying to create something but it would just not happen. 2nd half seemed to start the same way and really the only way either team was going to score was by a big mistake. I think Pardew got it spot on in bring Waigo on for Barnard. No offence to barnard but he had a clear chance and wasted it, it didn't looklik it was going to be his day. Bringing Papa on changed the game and gave us the attacking option we had badly lacked. The guy was class and should of had at least 1 other goal from a 1 on 1 situation. Me and some people at the game were talking about how in previous seasons we would probably end up losing the game. It is a huge difference to see the manager actually make decisions that change it for the better. So all in all a very good win against a team who just wanted a draw imo, we struggled to create the clear chances due to some players having a severe off day. But we grinded out the result and move places up the league. I think someone said if we win our game in hand we will be something like 9 points behind the last playoff spot? We will need to play a lot better then that but i think teams like Stockport bring the worst out of us. We missed Hammond and Lallana i think. Hopefully Puncheon can add a bit more to the creative side. So a lot of positives and it is great to see our defence being so solid.
Thedelldays Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 This was not an inspired substitution by Pardew, it was a major mistake he did not start . game of opinions Just back I think Pardew got it spot on with waigo.

We don't have a game in hand over either Swindon or Huddersfield, they both have a game in hand over us. It's 18 and 15 points respectively if they should both win the game in hand that they have over us.
saintds Posted 30 January, 2010 Posted 30 January, 2010 There was never any question of Stockport scoring today. We were shocking in the 1st half though. Easily our worst performance at home, and that includes the Brighton game. Mills, fantastic against Ipswich, won't have been worrying Harding this afternoon. Far too much hoof-ball from our CB's - I thought Fonté was a bit more cultured than that. We need Hammo and Lloyd back. Play Papa from the start next game please and give Antonio a rest, he looked shot to bits today.
