Lib Dems Back Safe Standing

Apologies for the delay in getting this vital information to you, but it has been a busy week!! On Sunday afternoon Liberal Democrat members voted for the party to adopt a policy of a return to standing areas at football grounds.

See here.

I'm sure that (whether or not this single policy alone is enough to get you to vote Lib Dem - which is another matter) all of us who want to be allowed to stand up at football games without all the hassle are delighted that this debate has been re-ignited, and is now policy for one of the big three political parties in this country. The test now is to pressurise the other parties in to getting the message.

Also Bradford City are backing the campaign, and perhaps the next step for us is to write/e-mail our club to ask for their thoughts. I recall Rupert in the past saying that he'd have no issue with it.

but I can't see any of the clubs in the top 2 divisions taking out seats and putting in terraces.

A year ago I'd have told you that no political party would back a return to standing. Now we have one. I'm sure clubs will be sceptical, but that doesn't mean they can't be convinced.

Tax cuts for the poor and a return to safe standing!

The Libs are in serious danger of getting my vote.

Probably won't make a difference though....probably.

Indeed, all I want to see them adopt as policy now is a 60% tax on people who earn more than £250k a year and they WOULD get my vote.

(Awaits Bungle's every so funny and predictable comment on my intelligence. Probably something along the lines of "They don't allow people with a mental illness the vote".)

They'll be getting mine for two reasons.

A) They aren't Brown.

B) They aren't Tories.

Those reasons are good enough for me.
