Berkshire Saint Posted 29 January, 2010 Share Posted 29 January, 2010 Not a bad player but not widely enthused by this either. Would like to see younger players like Vince get a go. There are some rumours around about Carberry going back to Surrey which would be a diaster. Would like to think we can tell them to **** off as we've let them have Brown and Tremlett whilst they were still under contract to us so would be a bit much to release Carberry to them as well... Weston Saint Posted 29 January, 2010 Share Posted 29 January, 2010 Good signing. With Dimi and Lumb away at the beginning of the season championship team likely to look something like this Carberry Adams McKenzie Vince Dawson Pothas Ervine Cork Kabir Griffiths Briggs Beham likely to be playing in place of Vince in 1 dayers to start with. krissyboy31 Posted 29 January, 2010 Share Posted 29 January, 2010 Not a great fan of this, not that I don't think McKenzie is a decent batsman but I hate this flag of convenience b*ll*cks that allows former test players become Kolpak qualified and vice versa. IMO The only players that should be allowed to bypass the one overseas player rule are players with UK/EU passports looking to qualify for England after residency period. saint1977 Posted 29 January, 2010 Share Posted 29 January, 2010 Hants have a class side for next year now in both batting and bowling. Griffiths has a real chance to break through and push for an England spot and will learn a lot from Simon Jones. Ali was bowling seriously quickly at Worcs when fit last year and Corky is still 83-84 mph and lethal in the early season conditions when the ball moves around. Mendis should confuse most county batting line ups and Dawson should grow as an all-rounder. Pothas will contribute well as ever and encourage from behind the stumps. Dimi is an excellent skipper with a great cricket brain. Lord's was fantastic last year. Can we taste more success in 2010? There's a good chance. Granadino Posted 30 January, 2010 Share Posted 30 January, 2010 Agreed that the Kolpak system is ultimately a bad thing, but while it is rife in the game McKenzie is a class signing. Saw a lot of him when he was at Somerset and he was a class above in all formats of the game. Equally effective as an opener or batting anywhere down to number 6 he can do fantastic job of holding the innings together. Hampshire for league champions me feels...
