Will P*mpey last till the derby?

Have a ticket and have booked my flights for the Pompey game. How serious is the chance of them not being around for our FA cup clash?? I'm also over for the Dons game but not sure if that's really worth the return airfare. Stressing a little. Please put my mind at ease.

The game will be on mate, these things always take time ticking along, the skates seem to find just enough money when needed, even if things go against them before the 13th (which is only 2 weeks away) i'm sure they'll they still be able to field a team.

fair play from flying over from Australia, whereabouts do you live over there? those flights must be costing a fair bit. You couldn't have timed your visit much better with the MK Dons and Pompey home games, both should be great occassions and you could return home having seen us qualify for the final of one competition and the 1/4 final of another.

just been on sky;

can't pay wages and current bills but when sale of Kaboul goes through they will be ok.

Also 'Arry saying he spoke with Avram and said if he doesn't want to sell he will pull out, and Avram told him he has to sell.

Also Avram saying he knows nothing about the sale, not does Storrie!

It was on sky last night that Storrie is being kept out of the finances completly and Grant doesn't know who will be next out of the door.

The Directors CAN'T put the club into admin anymore becuse there is a winding up petition in place.

I agree that it would be crazy for the secured creditors not to put the club into admin before the petition is heard but it is equally crazy for them not have appointed administrators already.

After Monday there will be little an administrator can do. All the time that he runs the club he will be personally responsible for any losses incurred and would have to be really REALLY sure of a sale of the business to continue to trade unless he can raise funds from elsewhere.

With no ability to sell players to raise funds to cover the losses himself he may have no option but to shut the doors anyway, unless somebody else agrees to fund trading (can't see that happening).

EDIT: Not saying there is no chance of them continuing to trade for a short period without a sale, but trying to highlight that the chances of them not making it are significant.

Sorry but I dont agree. The Company can apply to Court for Administration. HMRC would have a chance to be heard and the Court may well say no, but its an option. The option that is no longer open is the Out of Court procedure - the "quickie" Administration.

Or, as you say a Secured Creditor could petition for Administration.

Another option is for the Directors to propose a Company Voluntary Arrangment - essentially this a deal that all Creditors get to vote on. It needs to be "attractive" to have a chance. HMRC may well oppose that and so might others.

Winding up -v- Admin should be a no brainer in favour of Admin. Winding Up means that all employee contracts are terminated instantly, including all of the players, so they can all walk. PFC lose League membership. In fact the Winding Up order, if made, is then deemed to have started on the day it was first advertised, and any disposals of assets after that date are automatically void. So if players are sold to Spurs but then a WU Order is made, that deal is void

An Administrator would not have to service the current debts / pay the old owner etc etc. He just needs to fund ongoing trading and wages. I realise that this may be a lot of course, but if he follows the Saints strategy and gets the media and supporters to "rally round" and if he believes he can find a buyer -who would pay much less than full value for assets, so there should be some interest - he can justify the case

One of the members of staff at PFC has told a member of my staff that no wages are forthcoming again. He also sat with the directors this morning who openly said they expect the club to be wound up in two weeks time.

The directors are desperatley trying to get the club into admin to prevent this.

I have been told this today but alas know no more than that.

Just heard that Saints are not releasing the tickets to the skates until they've paid up front for them. Hilarious, could there actually be any skates at St Marys if they're still going when we're due to play

IF that is true, then that'll be around £100k+ they'll need to pay us, pretty sure they don't have that sort of cash at the moment!

I don't think it is true though to be honest, it is not something saints need to worry about as the receipts go to the FA who then take their cut and share with the away club, even if pompey sold all their tickets we'd still owe them money in share of total gate receipts, we can just withold what is still owed to us, so no adverse risk for saints.

Can someone post this on the Skate Forums?....haha it gets better and better.

PAY UP POMPEY PAY UP....

Oh .... you can't. Never mind eh?????

I've twittered Solent Sport to see if they've heard as much.

Why not? The forum is not the same as the OS (which is back online anyway). The main Pompey forum is actually quite a peaceful friendly place - unlike this pit of vipers :-)

I can't see the FA or Premier league allowing the possible demise of p*rtsmouth buggering up their competitions if they go pop that would result in a massive loss of face for 2 of their "prestige" products they will keep them going until the end of the season, when they will then cut them adrift just as the World Cup starts to lose the news in, that's if someone has not rocket up to buy them.

Problem for the PL/FA is the winding up order is beginning to snow ball as other people owed money add their name to it. They may be able to do what they can to keep pompey going on the football side but can't see them stumping up 10 to 20 million and if they did their would be ourcry from the teams around them.

It's really beginning to move out of anyone's control, no matter how much damage will result from the winding-up petition. It's literally like watching a train wreck and being completely unable to stop it.

And, besides the legal ramifications of the winding up petition and order, I'd be amazed if a number of key players aren't already in 'secret' discussions with other clubs so that they can move on as soon as payroll is missed. Who can fault them? And who can fault the clubs that could pick those players up for next to nothing?

Am I right in saying that now Pompey have failed to pay the wages again this month that the players can give 14 days notice then move onto a new club for free?

I'm not even sure they need to give notice TBH as Pompey are in breach of contract. It could make things interesting, as if Kaboul wants a bigger signing on fee, he can just walk away and sign for Spurs on a free, as can Begovic. If this happened there would be no transfer income and therefore no wages. Not a good situation really.

It is on a thread somewhere but not sure which one. It maybe on the is theirs worse than ours one (CBA to check). It certainly makes sense as this way means we would not actually be a football creditor, which we would be if we released the tickets to them prior to sale. I think thats why other teams did the same to us when we were in admin.

I actually feel quite sorry about this. I "hate" pompey in that I want them to exist for us to beat them 5-0 every time we play them (an Arsenal mate of mine sent me a text when they beat them 6-0 or something asking how many I wanted, and I replied "one more than you score") but I don't "hate" them enough to want them to go bang completely - where's the fun in chanting "We dislike Brighton and we dislike Brighton, we are the Brighton dislikers". Actually, thinking about it, I do quite dislike Brighton.

I wouldn't want them to go completly out of business as we go back a long way, they were my first away game in 1976,and I have been to every encounter since....my best mate is a Pompey fan and I would be devastated for him if they went bust.

They have to survive but I do think they need to be punished and brought down to a suitable level.

I know that there was an element who prayed that we didn't exist when we were in trouble but do we need to stoop as low as them? They need us as much as we need them, without each other there is no rivalry, there is no banter and when the cup draws come around there is no excitement......cast your minds back a week and remember how you felt when those two balls were pulled out if the hat, look at how those two balls have got the two cities buzzing and the whole country watching.

It would be a very sterile football world without them,we need the unwashed to infect our day to day lives.

taken off a p*mpey forum

"Things are even worse than we thought, I've just heard from a work colleague, who's daughter's school prom in the Victory Suite has just been cancelled by the club, that all functions at the club have been cancelled as no bills have been or will be paid."

think they`ve only got days left if this is true

When the Pompey visit they better lock away the silver cutlery in the Saints boardroom as well. Times are desperate !

Agreed - but how a club can continue (and be allowed to) under the current circumstances is beyond me. They are selling players to fund wages - well what happens next month & the month after that and so on.......it beggars belief, it really does.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but a pompey fan at work said that if the players are not paid by next friday the game against saints wont happen and we'll recieve a bye into the next round...

Would you take that or would you rather play the skates!?

Surely with the sale of Begovic and Kaboul looking like they are going through the club will pay their players though right? I wanna play them cause i genuinly think we can win...but we'll see what happens in the mean time!
