Will P*mpey last till the derby?

Will the skates be around when they are due to play us? The winding-up petition is due a few days before and I notice that 2 other creditors have attached themselves to the winding-up petition.

This could well be the start of the end for the blue few, even their website has been taken offline due to non-payment. ( That's going to make their ticket selling mighty awkward )

Would you prefer them go bust before and we get a bye, get beat by us then go bust the next day or find a buyer and get beat by us?

All i am interested in is do we get our ticket money back if the skates cant fulfil the fixture?

"On the subject of the staff not getting paid he mentioned that the club did have the funds to pay them but couldn't because of something to do with the HMRC's winding-up order currently on the club, which didn't allow funds to be transferred from accounts or something of that ilk anyway"

Sounds like cow poo to me

i dont want them to go bust, i hope they find a buyer. it will be far more boring if they are gone completely. the morons on here who want them to go completely are really sad.

They would never really "go" forever. The fans would create a new club.

I agree completely perhaps the thread should read will our slim play off chances last till the derby and do our fans really care about the two critical league games in between or has the focus of their attention permanently turned eastwards?

East? East? EAST!!!!

You're often accused of being a troll, of not really being a Southampton fan, of just coming on here to wind people up but I never really believed it... Till now.

I am a Bona Fide fully paid up member of the S/T holders club and have been since the move to SMS and my support unlike many has never waivered.

I would love to have a post count over the past few weeks or even months to see how many have spent their time discussing Saints vs our friends in the East? Look how many posts there are in the Pompey Takeover Thread, do we really care that much vs what is happening at our own club at the start of hopefully something significant?

Believe what you like but our gloating obsession with Pompey has become more than unhealthy and the derby has tipped it over the edge. I dread to think how some fans will cope if we lose that game and based on our current form we are likely to be easier opposition than Pompey have faced in a while and that includes Coventry.

It now looks like we will be scoring (presumptuous, I know) against Anti Niemi if Pompey are still in existence. What which Begovic being sold to spurs and James still moving to Stoke, it looks more than likely. Unless he bench warms for Jamie Ashdown, not sure which is the better 'keeper these days and who would be first choice.

I want to know if Pompey get wound up on the 10th and can't fufill the fixture on the 13th. Do Saints then play Hartlepool in the league fixture, is this why no re-arranged date has been given yet and the official site shows both fixtures for the 13th ?

Here's the view from the Guardian's Fiver - a daily email:

24 carat comic genius! I particularly liked the suggestion that as they couldn't afford to run their website that they should employ the services of a town crier to desseminate the news, provided that they could find a suitably preposterous looking individual with his own hand-bell.

Pompey have closed down their development centres (academy for the under 9's) now too, got a letter yesterday.

F**ked off really, my nippers been training with them for months.

I was set to sit in a session with them next week to, have been informed training has been cancelled for the forseable future.

They will not get wound up. They will go into Admin and keep playing. Even if the Directors commit utter madness and a dereliction of duty and do not file for Admin, the major creditors will. See the countless other threads

The Directors CAN'T put the club into admin anymore becuse there is a winding up petition in place.

I agree that it would be crazy for the secured creditors not to put the club into admin before the petition is heard but it is equally crazy for them not have appointed administrators already.

After Monday there will be little an administrator can do. All the time that he runs the club he will be personally responsible for any losses incurred and would have to be really REALLY sure of a sale of the business to continue to trade unless he can raise funds from elsewhere.

With no ability to sell players to raise funds to cover the losses himself he may have no option but to shut the doors anyway, unless somebody else agrees to fund trading (can't see that happening).

EDIT: Not saying there is no chance of them continuing to trade for a short period without a sale, but trying to highlight that the chances of them not making it are significant.

I'm slightly confused now. I was unaware that a WUO prevented a club going into administration though now you point it out, it makes obvious sense. What other options do the club and/or HMRC have?

In very basic terms an adminstrator can be apointed by:

i) the Directors

ii) a qualifying floating chargeholder

iii) the court

If a winding up petition is in place the Directors are blocked but the other two are still possible.

Good piece Clapham.

Why can the creditors request Admin but not the Dirs? Is it just cause there is a WUO?

Yep.

If the directors want an administrator to be appointed then they would now need to apply to court.

In applying to court they are acknowledging that they are insolvent.

If they are insolvent they need to provide a good reason why the creditors would be better off with the company placed into administration rather than liquidation, as would be the case if the WUO is passed.

surely even the sale of players won't be a big help as the payments won't be in one lump but on the never never?

really think it will be one of the smaller companies that kill them off, someone will get that ****ed off or be on the edge of going to admin themselves that will do for them.
