macthesaint Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Welcome to the Punch eon Jaidi show........ That's the way to do it! Absolute quality Johnny:p
Glasgow_Saint Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 1 million seems a heck of alot... Seems alot for a L1 side - but guess thats the price you pay to beat off competition. CCC clubs (Watford, Reading) have been linked as have MKD's (on a perm) and Leeds. It will go down as undisclosed no doubt!
Deanovski Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 but the fact we are potentially paying 1 million for a player a team in the league above paid 250k for who is deemed to have been a failure.
revolution saint Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 1 million seems a heck of alot... it won't be a million quid - that came from the fountain of all knowledge 606. If Plymouth had a player worth a million would they loan him out? Probably not. I'd be amazed if the fee is even half that.
beatlesaint Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 So we won't pay £800,000 for Stock but we'll pay £1m for Puncheon. :-o Until that window slams shut lets wait and see. Puncheon is not a central midfield player and AP says he wants a replacement for Mellis who, I believe, played central midfield. Wether its Stock or A.N.Other I wouldnt rule out another signing before the 1 February regardless of us getting Puncheon or not.
Smerlinare Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Can't believe it until it's on OS. Hope it is true, he'd be a great signing!!!
Johnny Bognor Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 I lolled Absolute quality Johnny:p The idea hit me like a Puncheon the nose.
krissyboy31 Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 it won't be a million quid - that came from the fountain of all knowledge 606. If Plymouth had a player worth a million would they loan him out? Probably not. I'd be amazed if the fee is even half that. That's what I thought. Maybe it could rise to a million depending on appearances, promotion, international appearances, champions league winners medals and the like.
derry Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Under FA third party rules a player on loan to another club is tied to the loan club, only in so much as they have under the agreement been given an option to purchase, should the home club want to sell the player. MK Dons therefore have to exercise that right and match the offer or the transfer will go through. I suspect that they would also have to match the players new contract offer. I know we can't talk to the player without permission but the agent would have this end tied up.
sussexsaint Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Bloody hell, still can't quite get my head around all these signings, still doesn't totally rule out Stock either does it?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Will be more like 300k than 1m. Wouldnt MKD's pay 300K? Plymouth paid 250 and sent him on loan - he's been a hit at MKD's so imagine they will look for more than 20% profit?
Katalinic Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 (edited) I don't know, i suppose i did jump the gun a little. Personally i think spiderman is a better player and james will be a better prospect. Wotton as terrible as he is seems to be a destructive enough playing DM in a 3 man midfield but hopeless in a two man. IMO we could do with an extra DM. Hammond hasn't impressed up to his name and hype when he joined. The problem as I see it is that none of them can dominate a game - none of them seem to be able to drive the team forward and dictate the play. Imo Hammond is the nearest player we have to be able to do that but we just seem lacking in that department somehow. The word I am looking for is power I think, we need more midfield power to overrun opponents midfield and go through them like they weren't there. Edited 27 January, 2010 by Katalinic
Matthew Le God Posted 27 January, 2010 Author Posted 27 January, 2010 No chance it will be anything near £1m.
Saint Charlie Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Wouldnt MKD's pay 300K? Plymouth paid 250 and sent him on loan - he's been a hit at MKD's so imagine they will look for more than 20% profit? Think he is aiming higher than MK Dons, both in terms of career and wages.
Katalinic Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 No chance it will be anything near £1m. Agree - 400k tops including add ons.
Smirking_Saint Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 The problem as I see it is that none of them can dominate a game - none of them seem to be able to drive the team forward and dictate the play. Imo Hammond is the nearest player we have to be able to do that but we just seem lacking in that department somehow. He is full of running tbf to him but he doesn't have the cutting edge for me and is too slow. Spiderman is by far the most creative when he is on the ball but is not defensive minded enough and needs a player there to win the ball and bring him in etc. Without a new DM i would prob play 4-5-1 with james, spiderman and hammond in the center. But then pards has caused himself problems signing barnard as if he has been told he is in the first team then he needs to play 4-4-2 which is a shame as i think our strongest team suits 4-5-1
Saint Charlie Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Plymouth fan said that their commentator on the reserves game V Saints (see other thread) said Puncheon is joining Saints on loan? Surely this is wrong?
Saint Sanso Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 I dont see it happening, seems dependant on MK Dons cancelling loan agreement, if so I cant see them handing us their best player prior to the second leg. also looks like a number of clubs are tracking him all of which may come in with bids.. nothing to say we have even spoken to him as of yet.. Hope I am wrong, but still looks a long way off.
krissyboy31 Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 I think if this wasn't happening, we would have had Saints' Official Twitter site on saying something like "Lol at SSN, second time they've got it wrong in the last few weeks!" They were almost immediate in their rubbishing of the "Ward Signs" report.
Smirking_Saint Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 I think if this wasn't happening, we would have had Saints' Official Twitter site on saying something like "Lol at SSN, second time they've got it wrong in the last few weeks!" Alternatively they're all down the pub having a few beers watching the Manchester derby cos there's no news that ever breaks on a Wednesday night

Thedelldays Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 if he signs...how much longer can we excuse not beating teams made up of frees and loanees..? would be a brilliant signing by the way
tedmaul Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 He's technically good and very quick. Looks like the Mellis replacement that Pardew was after. He wasn't great for Plymouth, but to be fair he didn't get much of a chance. I didn't get to see him at MK Dons so he may have improved. £1m seems a lot but hey I guess we can afford it!
Saint J 77 Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 I am not too sure about this signing, I dont know enough about him. It seems like we will have to wait until tomorrow for this to be confirmed by the club if its true.
Pat from Poole Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 At the risk of asking a really stupid question, with Plymouth struggling in the CCC, why is he not in their side if he's that good?
Johnny Bognor Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 (edited) At the risk of asking a really stupid question, with Plymouth struggling in the CCC, why is he not in their side if he's that good? Perhaps for the same reason we loaned out John, Rasiak and Saga last season when we struggled for goals? Edited 27 January, 2010 by Johnny Bognor
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 I lolled I can see that headline being used one day if Puncheon happens to cross for Jaidi to score a winning goal PUNCHEON JAIDI SHOW......Brilliant!
Dog Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Wright Philips replacement? http://www.croydonguardian.co.uk/news/949592.footballer_in_robbery_arrest/ Do we have the biggest squad in the world yet?
ottery st mary Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 At the risk of asking a really stupid question, with Plymouth struggling in the CCC, why is he not in their side if he's that good? Memory serves me correct..there may have been a domestic reason with his other half........Living in Plymouth so far away from the rest of the world....Could not settle etc :smt054......I may be wrong:rolleyes:
brmbrm Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 As in, it's a done deal? Or a rumour on Sky Sports? I would orgasm if this happened. Post 7, post 27 and post 45: SC is into multiple orgasms. Determined to make the thread a sticky, eh?
Saint_clark Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Post 7, post 27 and post 45: SC is into multiple orgasms. Determined to make the thread a sticky, eh? There were three threads about Puncheon, they were all merged into one.
brmbrm Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 There were three threads about Puncheon, they were all merged into one. Think that makes it worse - troilism. (Me, I'm to old for that these days)
Saint_clark Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 (edited) Think that makes it worse - troilism. (Me, I'm to old for that these days) If I get infractions for a one off joke about so many threads of the same topic being started it will be a travesty and will make a mockery of the justice system IMO. Genk Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 I'm sure there will be a tweet at 10.45am tomorrow from OfficialSaints saying 'Who fancies another signing then' !
Andy_Porter Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 if he signs...how much longer can we excuse not beating teams made up of frees and loanees..? would be a brilliant signing by the way If you're talking about yesterdays result then it's inexcusable already. We should be beating **** like that everyweek.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Brilliant idea by NC & AP. Not only sign an excellent player but also steal him from a loan spell at our JPT Southern Area Finals rivals. Leaving nothing to chance in our march to Wembley, I like it!!
Victor Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Wright Philips replacement? http://www.croydonguardian.co.uk/news/949592.footballer_in_robbery_arrest/ Do we have the biggest squad in the world yet? He stole a 48 year-old woman?! Sounds in Wayne Rooney's league.
Tac-tics Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 I was told back early this wasnt going to happen till the Summer, strange one for it now. Plus Plymouth linked with Danns, could add up.
saintkiptanui Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 I was told back early this wasnt going to happen till the Summer, strange one for it now. Plus Plymouth linked with Danns, could add up.WTF has Danns going to Plymouth got to do with it?? ITK c-ockle.
captainchris Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Wright Philips replacement? http://www.croydonguardian.co.uk/news/949592.footballer_in_robbery_arrest/ Do we have the biggest squad in the world yet? Come on, this squad is getting rediculous. AP needs to concentrate a bit more on his tactics and consistant team selection with subtle changes for fatigue rather than these wholasale defencesive personnel changes. I am seriously concerned about the AP decision making all round. He has a multitude of his own players now and has spent fortunes compared to say Brentford so it's time for results and pattern of play now. Much less 'humping' less bias towards not picking certain players i.e. Thomas - however well he plays and James who only has to turn up to be picked every time. More thought now and less default to the transfer market. I just think AP has gone a bit stir crazy and needs to focus on the job in hand...
Tac-tics Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 He's from Plymouth you tossell. Regardless as to them rating him, one in one out for depth and quality?
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 I was told back early this wasnt going to happen till the Summer, strange one for it now. Plus Plymouth linked with Danns, could add up. Maybe it's why the fees a bit high (if the 1 million figure is true). We're effectively paying off MKD the money they paid for a full season loan as well as the transfer fee. Plus, in spite of the result last night, maybe the playoffs are still our target and there's a realisation we can't afford to waste any more games so there's more urgency to buy a creative, goalscoring winger.
doddisalegend Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 If you're talking about yesterdays result then it's inexcusable already. We should be beating **** like that everyweek. Why? If Brentford are **** what does that make us. I love this billy big ******** attitude some of our fans have. Some really do think we only have to turn up to win:rolleyes:
saintkiptanui Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 He's from Plymouth you tossell. Regardless as to them rating him, one in one out for depth and quality?errr yeh thats right, ****le breathed ITK sp-unkmonkey
Andy_Porter Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Why? If Brentford are **** what does that make us. I love this billy big ******** attitude some of our fans have. Some really do think we only have to turn up to win:rolleyes: No it's because they where pretty crap, if Barnard finished his chance we would have been comfortble winners. Got to aim to be beating sides which aren't even in the top 6. We had four 1m+ players on the pitch yesterday and we can't make it count. Those are exactly the sort of game we have to learn to win if we're going to get promoted next season.
SFC Forever Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 with Palace now in administration I am slightly puzzled by the we want Danns brigade not reappearing.
Andy_Porter Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 with Palace now in administration I am slightly puzzled by the we want Danns brigade not reappearing. Left sided player makes more sense, not sure who's the better player from the two but we've been crying out for a left sided player for ages.
shurlock Posted 27 January, 2010 Posted 27 January, 2010 Assuming the Puncheon story is true, still think if we dont have a CM who can take the game by the scruff of the neck and start attacks, we won't see the best of any of our AMs. Its no coincidence that the likes of Lallana struggle when we play hoofball.
