NickG Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 of course they did...cortese stated he was going for top 2....and they sure have spent the money.. not great at reading are you?
alpine_saint Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 It's no wonder you often find yourself with people on your back, and being on the verge of being infracted. Is it possible for you to ring your insults in please..? In my opinion, his post was rubbish. What is it you object to - the word b*llsh*t ? Dont take it out on me because you are narked by this result, please.

Thedelldays Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 exactly - all true but doesn't fit with some people's agends to knock the club all of the time for fun. agenda..why does someone who is not happy about a multi million pound team with CCC players and a player from serie A sat on the bench drawing against a bunch of players in a team who have come up from league 2 and have no money to spend and poor facilities have to have an agenda..?
St Marco Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 Is it me or has anyone else noticed that the people who get "passionate" about a loss or draw never quite seem so "passionate" when we win? Maybe it is just me! Also 3 losses in our last 24 games = 12% loss ratio. And 2 of those losses were to 2 teams away in the top 4. It could be soooo much worse guy's, lighten up, stop listening to radiohead, it's bad for you!

alpine_saint Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 exactly - all true but doesn't fit with some people's agends to knock the club all of the time for fun. How arrogantly dismissive. People like TDD an myself reckon we are doing p*ss-poor when considered the resources and support the club is getting. Why cant people like you get that ?
Saint_clark Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 agenda..why does someone who is not happy about a multi million pound team with CCC players and a player from serie A sat on the bench drawing against a bunch of players in a team who have come up from league 2 and have no money to spend and poor facilities have to have an agenda..? None of us are happy, we just realise that football isn't clear cut - as i've been trying to tell you all day.
alpine_saint Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 Don't try and hide behind the "it's my opinion" line - you completely disregarded and disrespected his in the first place. Because in my opinion its rubbish what he wrote.

Don't let your disappointment get the better of you.

It could be soooo much worse guy's, lighten up, stop listening to radiohead, it's bad for you! you're right, but people will not see it. we should be beating brentford because they are called brentford, come from L2 and have a team costing 200k. i'm sure leeds should be beating swindon, because they only have a team costing 200k or whatever - but nm. If football was that simple, we'd all be managers.
Saint_clark Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 Because in my opinion its rubbish what he wrote. And yet if we were to disregard and disrespect YOUR opinion because we think it's rubbish, you would be spitting your dummy out and claiming how anybody who isn't a happy clapper isn't allowed.
Thedelldays Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 None of us are happy, we just realise that football isn't clear cut - as i've been trying to tell you all day. I know it isnt..thanks for the effort.. but without the -10 we would not even be in the playoffs.....ie, average
scott_saints Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 Alps, we're not HAPPY to not win a game, so if you could please stop using that point, it would be much appreciated. Ta muchly x
Saint_clark Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 I know it isnt..thanks for the effort.. but without the -10 we would not even be in the playoffs.....ie, average Without the -10 we would not have had such a short pre-season and would not have had such a depressing start to the season.
saint_stevo Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 Not as good as we thought we would be, and given the money spent surely we should be able to beat a team who last season were playing L2 football......especially once we take the lead. Wrong mentality from some, mainly the 'happy to have a club, no pre-season' crew
St Marco Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 yes. dont be patronising..thanks Ah thought so, cheers for clearing that up for me. I shall check myself into the priory first thing in the morning for my chronic positiveness. They will hopefully prescribe me some downers and all will be normal!
Thedelldays Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 you're right, but people will not see it. we should be beating brentford because they are called brentford, come from L2 and have a team costing 200k. i'm sure leeds should be beating swindon, because they only have a team costing 200k or whatever - but nm. If football was that simple, we'd all be managers. and I bet leeds fans think they should do you think man u fans went away the other day thinking "oh well, football is a funny old game".. then in the next breath we will have a thread claiming the prem/english football is so unfair as teams WITH money have a monopoly..?
alpine_saint Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 And yet if we were to disregard and disrespect YOUR opinion because we think it's rubbish, you would be spitting your dummy out and claiming how anybody who isn't a happy clapper isn't allowed. Really ? My opinion is treated like that on here every day. Most of the abuse I dont even respond to. Stop with your foul hypocritical whining.
NickG Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 oh for the days of Lowe arguing with Crouch and Wilde, us losing all of the time, with no chance of ever seeing Wembley, or being on ITV playing in last 16 of fac cup. Pardew / Cortesse / Markus are under achieving. Bring back the days of monthly manager changes!
CB Fry Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 (edited) of course they are trying to get into play offs, they really want to. Don't think they ever expected it though Signing the best two available strikers in the division and a £1.5m centre back from the league above suggests an expectation in my book. It's hilarious thinking back to our Prem days and the non stop belly-aching about if only we'd "invested in the team" and signed this player or that player. Because when spending big is a reality no-one wants us to push on at all, and we're all happy to scrape clear of relegation with a multi-multi million pound squad. Because it seems we need a multi million pound squad just to compete with Brentford and didn't we do well?. But Swindon don't need a multi million squad. And neither do Colchester. Or Millwall. And they're all in the play-offs. Funny how money guarantees success only when it isn't spent in the world of "if only". As soon as it is spent some fans think we just plod along as we did before. It's odd. Edited 26 January, 2010 by CB Fry
saint lard Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 My expectations and hopes for this season, when the season started, was to finish the campaign mid table. And to use this season as a springboard for an assault on promotion next season. Yes, we are 'big spenders' in this league but at this time it does not give us a god given right to think we can steamroller other so called 'lesser' sides. Play offs were, from the begining, going to be a very tall order, christ we have come such along way in such a short space of time. This result in the grand scheme is,yes a disapointment, but not the defining result in the rebuilding of SFC. The clamour for promotion this season is just unrealistic,it will come, just be patient. Next season will be the defining moment for Pardew and his plans for the near future,we fail next year then question the management. We will get a much better idea of what the future holds when this season is over and Pardew has had enough time to put the pieces of the jigsaw together. All imo.
Thedelldays Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 Without the -10 we would not have had such a short pre-season and would not have had such a depressing start to the season. leeds did it

Saint_clark Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 leeds did it Leeds are a bigger club than us and they had a couple of months for pre-season that year.
hypochondriac Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 Dont give a toss about the league... we were never going to get to the playoffs anyway. Its all about JPT and Pompey this year, win both of them then it would have been a great season for me. Strangely I agree!
S-Clarke Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 Leeds are a bigger club than us and they had a couple of months for pre-season that year. and they kept the same Poyett/Wise partnership. So many differences between ours and leeds situations. they also managed to keep a decent squad together...
alpine_saint Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 Leeds are a bigger club than us and they had a couple of months for pre-season that year. Right. So you are perfectly happy that we are firing on all cylinders, are you ?

alpine_saint Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 im sure old rupes still gets slated for NOT bringing in investment... why on earth for..it seems On the other hand, look how sh*te we were last year.
Whitey Grandad Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 agenda..why does someone who is not happy about a multi million pound team with CCC players and a player from serie A sat on the bench drawing against a bunch of players in a team who have come up from league 2 and have no money to spend and poor facilities have to have an agenda..? What do we want? - Instant gratification! When do we want it? - Now!
Thedelldays Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 Leeds are a bigger club than us and they had a couple of months for pre-season that year. leeds had dennis wise...they were in admin..they had -15..im sure they had some turmoil, player departures.. cant remember leeds being able to buy the best two strikers in the league, a rival captain a player from CL team Fiorentia and a CCC CB... I remember prutton being one of their main players....!!!! they also had ken bates unless, you think dennis wise and/or poyet are better managers than pardew..?
aintforever Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 To be fair when Nigel Pearson was romping this league with Leicester it was "my gran could win League 1 given money". We need to win these sort of games to reach the play-offs, it doesn't help having these extra cup games tho.
CB Fry Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 Leeds are a bigger club than us and they had a couple of months for pre-season that year. And started the season 15 points down, not ten. But yeah, they had it really, really easy compared to us. Easy.
Thedelldays Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 no its suggests a serious concerted effort to make up the -10 and slow start (no early signings) to get to the play offs. Without those we would easily be in the play offs. we would be 9th..
Whitey Grandad Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 we would be 9th.. '...and slow start...'
John B Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 we would be 9th.. Which would be good for a Team like Brentford with small crowds and little money but not really for a big City club like ours
Thedelldays Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 '...and slow start...' why would our start be any different...? boothroyd did not have a slow start Wilson did not have a slow start lambert did not have a slow start
CB Fry Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 no, I reckon 2nd to 4th Trust me, you wouldn't. I'm sure there would be some other excuse. Like how much easier Leeds United had it when they were minus fifteen as others are saying.
NickG Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 we have been averaging over 2 points a game for about the last 4 months and if we had started season with this team, and preseason, likely we would have all season. That would put us level with Leeds.
NickG Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 Which would be good for a Team like Brentford with small crowds and little money but not really for a big City club like ours he got it wrong.
saint_stevo Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 i wish we had been docked an extra 5 pts. Would have made getting in the Play Offs that much easier
alpine_saint Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 I hate that we drew Poopey in the Cup. And I hate that we beat MK Dons. Both are chickensh*t compared to promotion. This assinine zero-ambition codswallop wouldnt have been posted if those two things hadnt happened.
John B Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 we have been averaging over 2 points a game for about the last 4 months and if we had started season with this team, and preseason, likely we would have all season. Thedelldays Posted 26 January, 2010 Posted 26 January, 2010 he got it wrong. just like you gave alpine facts...I will give you one.. take away the -10 and right now..we still would not be in the playoffs...and NO WHERE NEAR auto promotion.. as you said, lets deal with facts..anything else, is YOUR opinion
