so...

hands up who won't be going to Wembley if we get there, "cos it's a mickey mouse cup" isn't it.

Too many babies spitting out their dummies on here tonight.

Usual suspects of course ;)

Next season we start level with everyboby else so if we're in a similar position this time next year, then thats the time to moan and complain, not now when in all reality the play offs were always going to be a long shot this season.Getting a point at Brentford is disappointing but not a terrible, pathetic result as others have claimed on here tonight.Next season i fully expect us to be around the top of the table all season.

i'll be going, because i am a saints fan, no matter what.

But im never going to be happy with a point at Brentford

Being a Saints fan, it is you duty to grin and see the postivie / make excuses for whatever results the team and manager serves up ;)

Who threw you a peanut?

Millwall came 5th last season. In L1. Not quite playing L2 football is it.....

:eats peanut smilie: ;)

Not even top premiership sides would go to places like the new den / griffin park / saint marys and be guaranteed a result. No matter how much you spend on the squad, it's still 11 v 11 at the end of the day. League one is full of promising managers who can find bargains and make good crafty loan signings. I would have taken a draw before kick off today. Bit gutted we couldn't hold on to a lead tho tbh. It's unrealistic expectations that puts a ****er on what is really a good point away from home. And it wasn't that long ago that th likes of Wigan / Bolton / Hull / Wolves were L2 sides.

Oh dear. Seems a lot of the people who took the playoffs as a given a month ago are now throwing the toys out. Get a grip people, that run of good form was NEVER going to last all season.

It is a mickey mouse cup.

But when saints play, i want them to win, no matter what.

But i wont be calling for a parade around the city if we do win it. It means very little

Why not?

We have spent loads of money you know....that should guarantee success

don`t you know...

why arey ou saying get a grip...why do we have to settle with mid table run of the mill...while we spend more than 20-odd teams in the league above..

if leeds can make the playoffs..with -15, dennis wise, ken bates and little to spend....then I like to think we can...

Lesson 1... forget the pompey match.....

lesson 2... focus on the game at hand...

Lesson 3 1&2 probably applies only to the fans

lesson 4 saints going through that murky stage now where the straight forward catch up game has ended, from now on points need to be clawed back from decent teams!

Lesson 5 it aint over til its over... we need to put together another decent run... next 2 league games Stockport & Exeter... then it is Norwich!!

re lesson1 : Do this lot or any other professional football player really give a hoot about a local derby they have no direct relationship with other than being given a better contract than their former employer was offering? I suspect they feel the extra buzz on the day as they run out on the pitch but players today simply have no feeling for the traditions of their fans and the clubs.

JPT will always be a good day out, and i am happy with AP putting his best team out.

But FA Cup ?? Come on, especially at the detriment of our league campaign.

Completely unfair post. Neither TDD or myself was referring to playoffs as a given, but we have persistently commented on the excuse-making and lack of ambition being demonstrated on the back of our ridiculous stroke of good luck in being found by ML and NC and their resources at their disposal.

well..why all the slating for rupert for not "breaking the bank, taking a risk, bringing in investment" if money means nothing or very little..

why moan about english football being dominated by the chelseas with massive money..and that it is not a level playing field like it was back in the day when a div 2 team could win the cup..

those arguements happen quite often on here..

if money does not really mean a great deal then why the fuss...especially about rupert in that area..

Really ??

So what exactly, (10 point deduction excluded obviously)

Will be different next season to the way we are playing now ??

Because we still aren't winning games, and we are still letting in goals and throwing away points ?

All about the pre season and that we nearly didnt have a club to support this season.

and i expect AP will sign a few more CB's in the summer

you don't have to settle for anything just support the team as it strives to move forward.

man alive, between you and stevo anyone would think benitez is in charge and we're freefalling into obscurity - single minded nonsense

No one is saying it doesnt help because it does...but it does not guarantee

success like some are suggesting .

3 defeats in 25 - get a grip....

A point away isn't the end of the world in the grand scheme of things. Some of the other clubs around us didn't fair too well - so it's still 'as you were' really.

Every team goes through a bad patch/blip during what is a long L1 season - and ours is now. The important factor is to get back to playing bloody good football asap like we were doing earlier in the season - and string a good run together for the remaining third of the season that's left.

dont think anyone is..

no one is saying we SHOULD go up this season..no one is saying we SHOULD beat pompey and no one is saying we SHOULD win the JPT...

If we,d started level this season we'd currently be 9th and 3 points off the play offs which at this stage of the season isn't bad but if with our resources and after another transfer window we're lower table this time next year then thats the time to complain. We're not playing badly at the moment,we're never going to win every game.

Oh yeah sorry,

Forgot that our impending doom means we never have to show an ounce of ambition anymore because you know, better just being around doing nothing.

And yeah, probably will sign a few CB's, a RB, and a striker in the summer mate, to sure things up a bit

It's the depression and the obsession with the League table which is irritating. It's form, it happens. Why can some people not seem to grasp this concept. The last 4 or 5 games is not the prededent for the rest of the season.

1-1 at Brentford isn't a bad result

1-1 at Millwall isn't a bad result

1-0 at Leeds is hardly a disaster

2-1 at Colchester again, not the end of the world

Leeds made the playoffs, bully for them, but after our summer fire sale we had a much worse squad IMO. How well did Leeds do the season after without the 15 point deduction? Nothing is a guarantee.

Wasn't refering to anyone specifically, just the general atmosphere of irrational depression.
